In answer to your question, you are a fawn for one month. In that time you cannot change your appearance and have it stay that way. When you grow up after the month, the changes in appearance with stay. The way you change your appearance is to have other players cast spells on you.

Only other players can give you a set, aka antlers, masks, pelts...
Keep in mind that sets won't stick on fawns for long, so only when you're a grown stag will they be permanent. It'll take you about a month to grow up.
You can obtain mask/antler/pelt spells through pine cones, mushrooms, sleeping deer... Explore for yourself.
You can wear flowers as a fawn however and candles. All of which you can find on the ground though candles are usually only cast by other players or found on foggy nights.
