Bit of a warning, there's a drawn spider in this picture. If you're really sensitive to that (like me!) you're now atleast warned. XD





I've wanted to draw Verve with a tarantula for a while.. Wasn't easy going to look for references with a phobia in the back of my head haha! But I did it, pat on my own back.

It's a Poecilotheria metallica in case you're interested, they're really pretty.

Already told you how much I loved this. I love the lighting you used and the way you used blurring to achieve a sense of depth and draw focus to her face and the spider. I need to get more brave about using blurring for things further away from the viewer, I always wimp out and don’t do it, but it’s just so effective. Verve is so gorgeous, love her African features, she’s totally lovely and it’s just refreshing to see an attempt to faithfully portray her more ethnic features.

And go you drawing a spider with your phobia. You need to draw more of them Eye

I have to admit, that's an awesome spider....and I'm the person who freaks out at pictures of spiders... Love your Verve though, such a unique character!

Blurring is funn. I get what you mean though. I had those spiders I mentioned to you in the BG, but they're entirely invisible now. (Perhaps for the best rofl) but yeah XD It's something you gotta want.
Aw thank you! I'm still on the level of loads-of-references-aah for her face especially, but ah training gets me there.

Ah yes! I based it pretty much of how the spider really looks. I saw some really awesome spiderpictures on tumblr and knew I had to use the species one day.
I'd love to deliver more! I just have a lot of projects going on and this was really an in-between thing XD

Aah this is great. Love how you did the lightning here, very atmospheric. And her ears and dangly stuff and the spider looks really nice too. Such a pretty spider species :D

Hahaha! Delightfully creepy, thank you! That sounds accurate XD I do like creepy. Spiders are not my favourites either, I'm a bad, bad phobic. But I've been doing better, dealing with pictures and stuff now without panicking. So drawing is one step forwards!

Hehee! I did love the idea of trying out some new lightning than the generic side-top stuff I tend to do. Yay for creepy.

Thank you for the compliments! I'm glad you think the background works too, I blurred it out in the end but it had more detail before. Just didn't want it to distract, glad that works ^^
