Help me choose a character (non-TEF art) - updated!

Hey, so I give thee my full permission to slap my wrist for posting non-TEF concept art, but I'm in need of help from this loving, artful community ?

^Eheh. Actually...on that note...maybe I will use this char as a TEF OC o.o we shall seeee~

Please, give me any thoughts/opinions/ideas you have about the three concepts below. I could combine aspects from any, add new things, tweak the markings/scars/colors, etc.

Please, give me any thoughts/opinions/ideas you have about the second image below. I've created four more designs based on the input I've received thus far Sticking out tongue

If this is really a conundrum to post on a community of deer things, I'll take it down - no worries! But if not, let me know what you think Smiling

Elements come to mind. I favor the earthy concept most.
It must be because of the swirls of green and powdery markings that sprout from the eyes...

Just my two cents- my favorite is the bottom brown one, the orange markings remind me of flames. I really love the blue eyes and blue markings under them. I think, if you were to draw the whole body, you could add a nice blue marking around his chest and maybe other parts of the body. I dunno, I'm rambling. 83

Actually, I think I'd favour

Actually, I think I'd favour the snow/ice concept just because of it's different subtle hues of blues and purples, though perhaps you could add the markings of the 'earth' bear onto it with deep ice in mind.

First, I have to say that the

First, I have to say that the bear with the forest tones is my favorite. He just gives off an air of being one with his surroundings despite being so large. The colors also work very well together.

The colors seem slightly awkward to me in the magma bear. I think that if you either added highlighting to the fur base or put some striking dark streaks in the fire design it would bring out the colors in a stronger way instead of how they currently just blend together. However, I really love the blue contrast and the fleshy tones you added for the lips. Bear lips are just awesome. <3

Finally, the ice bear's scarring just seems a bit mundane to me. It seems like 98% of the bear characters I see have scars over their eyes/noses/lips/etc. However, I really do like the icy tones you used and that you paid attention to the fact that polar bears do not have white skin.


All just my opinions. Smiling Thank you for sharing these. They're inspiring.

Before choosing I would need

Before choosing I would need to know more about the actual characters themselves, things like personality and setting, otherwise I would be just picking a design?

ravynn: Aw yay! Yeah, on DA, the earthy-looking one is popular too. I really like it! I just wasn't sure if it seemed to hold enough personality, or whatnot. Thank you for your thoughts~

Terabetha: Mmm, I thought quite a bit about posting a little blurb about the character, but then I thought it might just be fun to wait and see what people were interested in visually, before diving into personality/history/whatnot. But, since you asked, the design will be for an old woman/healer sort of character Smiling Haha~

Then definitely the brown and green design! For sure, the other two are too aggressive (it would seem to me to be contradictory to have a healer with such distinctive scars/injuries).

They are all very beautiful so it was difficult to choose, but I have to go for the 'earthy' one, love the colors and those markings. n_n

Yup yup.
Because the design around the eyes is not only beautiful but also "feels" like a gaurdian rather than a scary bear. (Bears are scary!) lol
But these are so beautiful. <3
