justdance: Thank you! I'm glad you think so.
Flyleaf: Cheers man! Happy you think so!
SoliloquyChryseis: Thanks! Jin did a pretty good job adjusting it I think! Though maybe his butt is a little lot too light...
RikkaChan: Thank you! I try to capture the colourations and markings of the Scotland subspecies...
Hi Veedeer,
it was good to see you in forest after that long while (I couldn´t believe it first).
You both do such a good job! He looks like he has seen many things in the world (good ones and bad ones).
Rouda: We try. <3 Thanks.
Keepiru: Eee, glad you think so man. Means a lot!
Pink: It has been a long time, heh. I missed TEF a lot throughout my times away - it's a very unique place. And I like to think he has seen a lot! It's really shaped him, for better or for worse.
Hum: Especially Jin, I can't draw to save my life... Ahaha. I'm glad you think so. <3 -Hands a tissue-
Looking at how Virgil has always been, I realize my character is essentially a giant rip-off of him and I feel awful because I didn't even know until he came back. I'm sure you don't feel that way but just so you know, it was unintentional. :<
Cries and loves you. Thank you, my friend. You are a gentleman and a scholar.
Yeah, The Red is, like, exactly bro-tier except for the weirdness of hanging out with another male. But really, talk about a respite from the sparkle deer hybrids. I'm sure stone will be on the lookout for him by mere characteristics.
But of course! I may even have some deer behavioral tips for you too, if you're interested!
I'm not exactly sure how it is with Sangai deer, but most deer species stags don't spend all year fighting with each other! A majority of the time stags are civil, and sometimes in some species (red deer for example) even form bachelor herds. Together they are much safer and look out for one another.
When the rut comes their behavior changes and they become aggressive towards other males. This is out of competition to be the best stag for reproduction. But once that's all over they become civil again.
I hope this helps! ;w; I've been hobby studying deer for years because I'm so passionate about them, so I'd love to share around what I know!
I'm really looking forward to encountering him in the game though, no matter if it's a positive or negative meeting! Gonna be frikkin rad, man.
I read, or thought I read, an article which stated that male Sangai separated from females out of the breeding season and tended to stay solitary, only joining the females periodically—however, I'm starting to think I must have found an awful source or drastically misread, as another source I've just found stated they tend to separate into same sex herds out of breeding season. Sources really do seem to differ, but considering how popular that is among deer species, I'm tempted to say that's correct.
I'm most likely not as well informed as you (partially because the data on Manipur Eld's deer is so limited—really, have a look, it's stupidly unavailable [if you find anything good, share 8l]), but I've also dedicated myself to studying the habits of deer and other animals, particularly his species to better represent him. I'm a biology major, so it's sort of a general pursuit. Obviously though, I'm not infallible. I like to be as accurate to nature as possible, so if you see me mischaracterizing/portraying behaviour improperly, please correct me. A.K.A. no worries mate, I try not to be a complete moron. :D
I sort of hate myself for choosing a highly endangered species because lol2uniquespecialsnowflake but it just clicked with the personality of the character I was creating so w/e.
Maybe I'll actually play more. Normally I just take a dip in, don't see anyone I know, let him sleep for an hour or two uneventfully, and leave. xD
It's not entirely untrue! I like to think that some stags have preferences with being solitary or bachelor herding, because sometimes it does vary. The thing to take into consideration is that wild animals don't like to over-exert themselves because it makes them vulnerable. If stags were always fighting, they'd always be exhausted, therefore an easy meal.
Hm, well since the info is so limited I'm sure you can apply knowledge on other deer species to make up for the gaps. Think about the environment they live in and see how you can apply it to be fitting. There's absolutely no shame in portraying a feral deer with slight improvisations! I do so with the Red. Maybe if you find the game-play a little boring you can do so too? Entirely up to you, of course!
I think the stone balancing thing is a really interesting concept. I suppose in the wild it's not something done, but here in TEF, things are different and it seems like a good pass time. I really like that aspect of him.
Oh, most certainly. I've definitely observed that myself. Back when I was in college, I had a whole course on animal behaviour—I think the thing everyone walked away from that with, more than anything else, was the sheer individual variance among members within a species and how fascinating it can be.
That's definitely what I've been trying to do (applying his environment to his behaviour). I'm happy to see another agree with the methodology I've been applying toward portraying him! (So far, simulating the behaviour of feral deer has kept me entertained, perhaps because I had never previously done so.)
Oh, most certainly. Despite his "feral" basis, I really wanted to emphasize how the Magic of the Forest made him "human," in terms of his cognition. The animal instincts, memories, and some desires are still there, but his perception of the world is most definitely permanently altered to that of a much more human mindset. Certainly makes him easier for me to play, all things considered!
What a handsome guy!
