The green stag finished his missive. He had been wandering and writing for over a week now, focused intently. When he was with his friends, he had been thinking only of the poems. When he was alone, he was pondering the poems. And now, at last, he was ready.
He stood from his sunning spot at the river mouth and climbed the hill to the Twin Gods' statue, where he left it. He had, with some care, made an ink to apply onto a sheet of peeled-off birch bark. He left the note there, unsigned, to preserve some mystery to it.
To All Dear Forest-Dwellers:
In the interest of letting poetry be as it was meant -- a surprise look at the world, a delight to reach and understand, and a part of the community -- I have gone forth and spread some of my poems throughout the forest, with each poem tied to its location. I will release them gradually, so that I will be able to preserve them for my collection in case no one decides to hunt them out. Each wave of poetry will get, ideally, harder to find: you who can find the last poem will, without question, truly know the forest. You'll have truly gone and looked around, and been fully aware of this world.
All the poems have been found --I hope you found them as if you had come across treasure.

((Ok, here's how this possibly bad idea works from our end. This is an interactive piece, after all, so everything should happen from the perspective of the characters, including the hunting and finding of poems and clues.
#1: You post a screenshot of your deer in what you think is the intended location of any poem in the wave, and a small optional description of why/how they're looking (if you like, no pressure).
#2: Then, I reply back either with a small scene describing the position of the poem and the poem itself, or a small scene with the unveiling of another clue.
#3: Once a clue is released, everyone can use it, since you're going to see it anyway.
#4: If you'd like, you can respond to the last message with your deer, possibly leading to a little interaction between your deer and the poem's author, Seed (he's probably lurking around, waiting to see if anyone finds the poem). That's totally optional, and only if you can think of something to say.
#5: When all poems in a wave are found, the next wave begins.
I hope lots of people participate and have fun -- I'm releasing these slowly to check interest, but there will be more! The rules and clarity of the clues may change depending on how easy/hard a time people are having.))

Which was sort of funny because in this case there had been a treasure.

There was a note on the back
If I hid a poem at the starting point, it wouldn't be much of a hunt, now, would it? This whole hunt is interested in nature -- these two lovers are also natural.
((Edit: Ack. I forgot to add the clue to the top of the page.))
"I never thought trees could
Hanging between the two
I considered these, I will admit; I think the two must love eachother dearly, if everyone can see that. But the trees I'm thinking of are in a newer part of the woods. Look there.
The fawn read the words and
He let out one last hmph! before setting off aimlessly, looking for another set of trees that appeared to be "in love", or perhaps some old Deer who could tell him where the "new" forest was.
Seed was lounging in a flower
He turned his head to see the fawn approaching, rose to his hooves, and bowed slightly, with a soft tilt of his head.
"Is something the matter? You look perplexed."
Upon seeing the Deer
"I was just reading- er, wondering, sir... I heard that parts of the forest are newer than others. Would you know what order they came in? Could you tell me, please?"
Nightshine looked at the ground as he asked his question, a little shamefully. He didn't like that he couldn't figure out answers on his own, and it felt like cheating to ask for help, even if he hadn't asked directly for the answer.
Seed gave the matter some
Seed shifted his mouth around, trying to think of what he could supply with confidence.
"Hm....Well, I don't know all the details myself -- most of the greatest changes occured well before I was born it seems, and the gods do less now... But... I have a friend who was alive before the area of the Birch Forest became a part of these lands, when this area known as 'The First Forest' was all the forest that there was. Does that help any?"
He asked, with a kindly and worried smile.
Although his head was
"Yes, Yes! Thankyou thankyou sir!" Nightshine darted away, stumbled as he came to a sudden halt, then turned around long enough to run in a circle around his helpful friend before diving under the Deer's belly (his own playful display of affection) and finally zooming off towards the Birch Forest.
Edit: He might be rushing a bit.
Close, but no cigar. There
Yes. Yes he had.
Closer and closer... You can see the First Forest from where they entwine.
(lol poor Seed xD) They're
They're so tall!

And Seed probably enjoyed it. He's so excited about how well this has gone.))

Hmph, I hate when edit buttons vanish Dx How about this?)
((That works!)) There,
There, written on the ground between the two trees, was the thing:
With all the grace antlers could produce, the final poem, carved into the red clay that formed the birch wood.
All above is as below;
anything else is dishonest.
How honest is it to twine
like mating swans or a mother serpent
In the middle, where everyone can see you --
but in the sky, your bodies seperate,
And underneath, you roots have never touched?
These two are constant lovers. To the eyes of deer
who patter by, their trunks seem
seperated by the chasing of sunlight,
the wind that pulls them to grow apart.
But above, where they transcend
Petty earth's concerns, they flex
their branchless bodies together.
And Below, their roots are the same roots,
coiled into one ball plunging deeper
and deeper into the brown earth.
All above is as below:
Together.
The final piece of the treasure hunt, an act made for the love of poetry and the forest... Celebrating forest love.
((Ha-ha! That's all, folks!
I had a lot of fun with this, and I think other people did, too.
Think I should do another, when I get the chance to write more poems in big doses like this?))
Sure! It was great fun
