A fawn's first steps

SpiritOfWandering's picture
From the darkness you slowly come around to the light, as if a voice was calling you to stand up and do something. The proces is slow. First, you open one eye, then another. You lie for a few more minutes, recalling where you are and how you got there, shaking of the remains of drowsiness that still threaten to take you over. Finally, the freshness and pure beauty of your surroundings strikes you with full force and you feel completely resored, energized, ready and more than willing to explore.
First, though, you put up your ears and listen carefully for any sings of life around you. There is none, within your hearing range at least. Thus, you find yourself alone. Alone in a big forest.
You relax. As a newly born faw, this a good occasion to practice all the necessary moves.
You roll with laighter, cower in fear, hang your pretty head in sadness all one after another. f other deer saw you they might think you;re crazy, little one. Thus, you practice secretly, when no one sees you, to be ready for deer-to-deer interaction when it is possible. And not offend anyone.
You hear the birds and the forest whispering something about dancing and then some creatures mentioning it along words such as fight and afraid. You're curious but right now you cannot try this option. It seems it is only avilable when others are present.

You quit wondering about imposible actions and instead carefully look around. You learn to run and run forwards towards wherever your road may take you. You still apear to have problems stopping though and as you try to stop at one point, you find yourself..sliding?

You keep running among trees, rubbing against some of them. You find the mushroom tree and eat some. You feel power rushing through you as you receive an enchantment. Too bad there is no one around to try it on. But then again..do other deer welcome enchantments? They are easy to cleanse...the dip in the pond is a lovely venture, too. Again, you are preoccupied with this is though only for a brief moment as there is no one around anyway.

You then try to find the Pond. on your way you see a beautiful pacth of pink flowers and you pick some to adorn your bambi head. Youhop around gleefully and then you start running again. To the pond you go.
Ah there it is. Though yu kept missing it before...well..your navigation does require some work...it blue tranquality eventually reahes your being. Feeling adventurou, you dive into the water and...disappear?!
But, easy. You;re still there. You're just so tiny that the waters hide you completely. As you walk towards the other bank you reemerge wet, but refreshed.

You lusten again. Your not-so-keen (as of yet) hearing still cannot detect anyon within closest range. You decide to explore some more and yet you fail to find all the landmarks. There will be time for it, you say. There is the time for everything.

Content with what you have seen and learnt so far, you return to the pond and fall asleep in its soothing company.

You are yet to learn and see so many things! This thought lulls you back into the arms of sleep.
Dream about your adventures, little one. We shall meet again very soon.

A newbie's note to self aka baby fawn's essential reading.

*the main website is a great intro.

2) Camera zoom using a laptop touchpad, no mouse: http://tale-of-tales.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1607

3) Assigning hotkeys:
"Put your cursor over one of the action buttons, and hit a function key (F1-F12, but not F10, as it just freezes the game until you press it again). To use the action you assigned, hit the F-key you put it as. Make sure your cursor isn't over any of the buttons though, or you'll reassign a new action to it." This will be a blesing, especially for combining movements ^_^
