Most people likely do not know what Nightmare is, or what he was before he became what you see now. Very few knew him back when he first came into the world of TEF, and those that did get to know him have moved on. Anyway, this is a small look into the past of this creature and monster to hopeful, give those that love him or hate him a look into him as a whole. Early 2009

Toxic Creed was what Nightmare was known as in his past life, his Very First appearance was quite different than this one but this would be the foundation of the monster. Toxic as he was known as back then was the social butterfly, he enjoyed playing and roaming the forest and spending time with those he both knew and didn't know. Quite different from the 'Nightmare' we know now isn't it?

October 2009

During October of 2009 was when Nightmare himself was born, this concept was born from me actually falling Ill with the Flu/Swine Flu for a week. I spent that entire week going to town with this character who had evolved from Toxic's depression and misery. Nightmare was born October 5th, 2009. My actual birthday, this was when he was called Toxic Nightmare. It was this stage in his life where he was the very cliche monster of sorts, and it was this stage where he was deathly terrified of things like the Devout Pelt, Twin Gods Statue as well as the Crying Idol!

Late 2009/Early 2010 (I Believe)

After certain events played out with Nightmare, a love that he had for someone and then the death of that love would lead to his First Death and his first rebirth. It was during this time that Nightmare would have his many encounters with Beliar. He still had great fear of the Devout, and it was also during this time that he shared many heated moments with Renoir as well. This was also back when I considered the BZD as a 'father' figure to him instead of Aeron, this was before Aeron and Catrin were even thought of! His skull markings were inspired by a few pieces of artwork that I had been browsing through at the time. But has since evolved away from this particular look and grown into something more 'original' for him.

Mid 2010

His next rebirth would come after another love was shared, and it was actually also the result of some minor 'drama' with friends. The issue was resolved shortly after but Nightmare's rebirth would result in his lost memory of those that brought it about to begin with. This rebirth came from when the giant stag was skewered a live and left to bleed to death before finally being reborn with the three jagged spikes in his chest as a reminder of what happened. This was the time where he was starting to develop a tolerance for the Devout, and where he grew into the silent and ever watchful creature that would sit with you and not say a world but watch out for your character. This was also the time when I Played with his skull design a bit.

2011 and Now

And the after June of this year you have him how he is now. Nightmare is a very deep, personal character for me, while his TEF self is only 2ish years old now (going on 3) his actually character as a whole is over 5 years old. He's something that I have loved since the day I created him, and will always hold a place in my heart and hopefully, others hearts as well. I'm having mixed feelings with him now, and a hard time deciding what to do with him at this point but I hope to continue playing him... and to continue having great times in the forest with him. Even if they are a bit 'drama' filled or crazy.

Overall, Nightmare has become a very special thing to me. He's my baby, he's my pride and he's my joy. We've come through many bumps in the road and are still pushing forward slowly but surely. Whatever happens next well I don't know, we'll just have to wait and see.
