Personality

Coral dislikes being in the same area for to long, never staying in one location more than a month, though he loves to return to the same places. He particularly likes the more secluded and botanically rich areas, as crowds of any species tend to annoy him. How ever, he is by no means antisocial, loving to meet new deer. Exploring new places to add to the plethora of locations he moves to and fro is typically what makes up a good percentage of his free time. Coral typically avoids confrontation, disliking fighting, though he is more than capable of defending himself or those he cares about, and will do so very passionately. He is though very untrusting of new situations despite his curiosity of everything, often taking his time to become comfortable with such things. He is kind to everyone, even those he has not gotten to know yet, though is typically untrusting. When he does get to know a given animal he is usually very concerned with their well being, and happiness. In a social situation he is very aloof and childish, paying no mind to what is going on. There are a select few though that he is comfortable with, and will behave as him self around. In summary he is rather deep and into him self, but when he branches out he brings that spark of passion with it.

History

Coral was born to a key doe by the name of Melina. The father how ever is unnamed, having left his mother soon after they mated (rather typical). He was born under a Mollorn tree which had a parasitic fern on it known to bear blue crystals that occasionally glowed, but for reasons un-known. For the most part the species of fern was known to not infect anything but the Mallorn trees, simply living in it's branches and feeding off it's sap. When he was born how ever the crystals were glowing and the ferns released their spoors. No longer than a week afterwards the ferns began to appear on coral and his mothers back/ back of their heads. The two found that they were incorporated into their bodies, and could not be removed. After about a year, the time a normal buck would leave their mother, she became ill. He did not know that the fern was feeding off her blood, much like it would be the sap of a Mallorn tree. She eventually died due to the lack of nourishment which the fern had stolen from her body, though coral was un aware of this, having left to begin his life as a buck.

The fern was much more incorporated into his body due to having developed with it attached to his central nervous system. For reasons unknown this made their relationship mutualistic as his circulatory system soon became fused with the vascular system of the plant. In term the plant fed off him as much as he fed off it. This close partnership soon added magical properties to his body the fern would normally have. For example he can now effect the growth and movement of plants, and sense the "natural energy" (Coacolina as he calls it) of near by organisms, much like the ampullae of Lorenzin in sharks.

Later into his life despite the odd circumstances of his biological abnormalities, he went about his life rather normally. It did how ever lead to a slight introverted personality as described above. At one point though he met a doe named Aini which he became very close with, and was one of the few animals he acted him self around. Despite his preference to move around allot, lately he has been spending a lot of his time in one location, where she is.

Relationships

Friends: Aini 'Taiga, a key doe he met recently and has become very close to. He is one of the few who have looked passed his parasitic fern, and has shown him more kindness than he has ever known. She is also different from many other deer he has met in the fact she is as concerned for his happiness as he is for hers. At the moment she is his best friend and possible more in the future.

Enemies: Thus far he has no serious enemies though he tends to dislike the superficial, and even more so those who disrespect life.

Other

*Coral has to feed two living things, him self, and the fern. This requires he eats either a tone, or spends time in the sunlight. As results he is rather weak, and his colors faded in the winter, though the ferns turn a bright golden yellow like aspen leaves. *

*Coral is not only vulnerable to normal ailments that a deer might have, but also those of his fern. If the fern were to die, he would as well, as it is so deeply incorporated into his body.*

*Coral likes to eat, and keep Indian Paintbrush flowers*
