The End

Tyerk stirred in his rest, nestled in the warm sun atop his favorite slab, curled in his claimed bed of soft, green lichen. He wasn't asleep, though his eyes were closed. His mind was drifting, thoughts flowing and bobbing within his head- complicated thoughts that were giving him a headache. Does he really want to raise fawns? Could he bare to see how they would come into the world, would it mean Revthyr suffering? A macabre image of his young ward torn open send a quake over his body.

(More inside.)

Curse the pseudo-Gods.. curse them for answering his prayers.. curse his devotion..
-
It's not that he wasn't glad for his lover. Nothing brought more joy to him than the light in Rev's eyes, the pride that welled within the young stag as he strutted with his swollen belly. He was certainly in a brighter mood lately, but Tyerk couldn't help but feel that something was amiss with the situation.
-
His head turned to the sky, a bright, white, glaring blanket in his face.
-
Why does knowing you may exist seem like such an omen? Even after realizing your power.. I still can't bring myself to worship you or respect you. I could never pray to you. You just can't possibly be..
-
He could feel his blood throbbing through his body. He was living, there's no way some figment could take something as solid and real as his life from him. His pulse pounded in his ears and he closed his eyes again. The light could be felt through his eyelids, burning and irritating his brow.
-
I'm not listening to you, Twins.. I'm not listening to your demands, your insistence on my humbling towards you.. you can't harm me, you're not real, you're not real..
-
The words looped in his mind, an echo, a murmur, that seemed to build with defiance every time it repeated itself, the stubborn idea was welling and growing within him. He felt he could scream it to the heavens and go on with his weary life without a worry. He spoke aloud, then, to no one and through gritted teeth,
"Stop trying to rule me.. I don't need to bow down to anyone.."
-
Any normal deer wouldn't think anything of his fit. It was well-known throughout the forest that everyone must respect and love their Twin Gods, but Tyerk's stubborn, realistic view of the world, of the Forest, was sinking him deeper and deeper into a pit of impending denouement. He was mostly unaware of this fact. What were they? Nothing but harmless apparitions! They couldn't touch him!
-
The grey stag rolled, moving from his knees to his hooves and stretching once he was up. He turned in his mossy patch, facing the glaring sun, and called to the sky,
"Fine! If you think you can change me, I dare you! Prove to me that you are the Gods you insist you are! I'm invincible to fairytales!"
-
A split second later the air around him was buzzing with energy, lighting up every hair on his hide with static. The atmosphere seemed to sizzle, and from the heavenly body of light in the sky, two orbs that seemed to be in par with brightness descended. As their forms came closer to the stone slab that the buck was frozen on, they began to change, taking on the shape of two massive and glowing golden deer. Their bodies shone from within and appeared nearly translucent, but they were clearly solid. Above their divine heads shone a halo that held no recognizing picto- these were the revered Twin Gods.
-
Their solemn, superior gaze fell upon Tyerk and his anger melted into a sick mixture of horror, disbelief, and.. understanding. Seeing them awakened something in him, something he should have known from the start: He was a deer of The Endless Forest, he was created by and always meant to be a believer and lover of The Twins, for The Twins are the sole creators, they are all and above all. Without them, there would be no Forest, no Tyerk, no Revthyr.. no deer.
-
Ty's jaw gaped. He was at a loss for words, but the two entities before him knew, they knew everything. Even from the start, they KNEW he would meet his looming fate, in the end..
-
He took one step back and fell immediately to his knees, eyes clamped shut and his cheeks already wet with tears. His emotions stripped to regret and it was all he knew at that moment. He trembled, mournful for himself and terrified, hoping to be forgiven.
-
For Tyerk, the Gods could not show such mercy.. with synchronized bows of their mighty heads, the unworthy stag faded into nothing. The last thing to vanish was his pictogram and with its disappearance, so were the Gods and any trace of them or Tyerk gone.
-
The only thing that remains of the deer is a well-worn patch of green moss and a handful of memories.. memories that echo painfully in hearts that may miss him.. but in the end, he brought it upon himself- does he deserve to be missed?

There are not words to

There are not words to describe how beautiful this is. The writing style is excellent [and you say you can't write. XP Liar], the story itself comes to a beautiful - if tearful - conclusion.

For Revtheyr, this time will be one of intense mourning. But the love that Ty had for him will be his buoy, keeping him from dashing his own body against the remains of his horn - as he plans to do. Not to mention the love of his friends, and those who he holds close to him. Tally, Saosin, Leonardo, and others.

This story right here is a testament to the impact that Tyerk had in Rev's life, and the impact he had in the Forest itself. He was such a complex, sweet, and gentle character that I'm sure is going to be missed again and again - not just by Rev.

If your intention with this story was to pull at the heartstrings, you have succeeded, I'm almost crying again reading it, and... it takes a lot in a story to make me do that. You should be proud of this, and proud of the way you have gracefully written a lovely character out of a beautiful world, and into the bosom of the Twins.

Honestly, be proud of this. It's better than I could have ever done myself. Bravissimo.
"I am not the Kirin Prince my father wished me to be. I am the three-horned darling of the Forest,
and my friends are my strength."
