i knew it... i logged on again and after i helped someone get their antlers it went straight back down to 1 fps. i have three letters for you.

i dont understand! i asked Dad about it and he said it might not have enough memory. the other reason could be the server, but that cant be since everyone else's game is running fine... this computer doesnt have a lot of memory for some reason, and the type of memory it has is ridiculously expensive.

it ticks me off so much! and here i thought it would be okay! i knew it wouldnt last forever. i get two chances and then it goes away forever. i guess ill never see Vessel or Fulu grow up. i mean what was even the point in getting Vessel's second set if i cant even use it? gah... i hate this computer so much...

why did Mom have to get the sh***iest computer of them all? so it has just enough memory to let me play, but not enough to let me play nicely. AND WHY NOW? why, after this whole month, did it decide to crap out on me NOW? why couldnt it have crapped out on me before i got hooked on it? it let me have a taste and then took it away! thats like taking candy from a baby!

maybe this means something. i am Christian, and i wouldnt be surprised if this was happening for a reason. ive been getting a little ginger about writing prayers to the Twin Gods, even though i dont believe in them or anything. but this is just unfair... to let me play long enough to really start to enjoy it and the community, and then throw a monkey wrench that i cant possibly solve at me.

im just so freaking pissed! excuse me for venting here, but im so angry right now! this is probably the most unfair thing ive had yet! all the other unfair things ive had in my life have been solved, but this? what am i supposed to do? get a new computer? i dont have that kind of money...

sorry for wasting your time, i just needed to get this out. i think im gonna cry after Dad leaves, out of pure frustration. *sigh* i just cant believe how stupid these computers can be...

Hmm...increasing the RAM

Hmm...increasing the RAM might get rid of the problem, and maybe a new Video Card? It sped the game up for me, even if...*points to her rant entry*

*anzel nuzzles you*...It's all I can say...

But here's some advice: Delete old, unused, large files. Maybe it'll help?
Kumiko's picture

*nuzzles* There there...I

*nuzzles*

There there...I may not know much about computers but let's see if we can't figure out something to help you out a bit. After all, your computer is apparently ok enough to run it if it ran it nicely once.

Have you tried running anti-virus and spyware programs to make sure nothing was slowing down your computer?

Have you tried defragmenting your PC?

Have you tried deleting any other games or other things you don't really use to free up space?

Do you make sure that you have no other programs or windows open when you play TEF to make sure your connection isn't being split?
Kanaf's picture

its an idea... maybe if i

its an idea... maybe if i get a job i can by Mom more RAM. im not sure about the video card, though...

but i will go through my stuff and delete the stuff i dont need anymore. it might help, but Mom has A LOT of crap on her account >>;;;

*nuzzles* its a baffling problem, but thanks for helping <333
Kanaf's picture

hmm, well in answer to all

hmm, well in answer to all those questions:

this is my Mom's computer, so i would have to get her permission. but im not sure if that would be it or not, so it could be the problem

i have no idea what defragmenting means XD

im going to try that in a minute, and then log on tomorrow to see if anything happened (because i might have more patience tomorrow)

every time i get on the forest i close everything down. im not sure if any programs on Mom's account would affect it though...

so, i dunno...

If you have a bunch of

If you have a bunch of screenshots in your screenshot folder, that you won't use, or won't need at that size...delete them, then clear the recycle bin, mwahaha.
Kanaf's picture

yes! thats exactly what i

yes! thats exactly what i was thinking >:3 they're all hosted anyway, soo... *evil face* XD
Anzel's picture

Go to control panel

Go to control panel Arrow add/remove programs...then check and see if there are old things that are never used, and uninstall them.
Kanaf's picture

okay i got rid of a lot of

okay i got rid of a lot of screenshots and A LOT of unused things

and... oi.. okay, im not sure if i should delete all these... i dont know what most of them do, so im a little afraid
Anzel's picture

Google their names, and see

Google their names, and see what they do :3

Or just tell me, I might be able to find out something about them.
Kanaf's picture

lol, that would take a

lol, that would take a while. there are like 75 programs here O_o probably why theres so little memory XDDD ill do that tomorrow or the weekend when i have more time...
Anzel's picture

Hmm...maybe you should try

Hmm...maybe you should try the forest once more, just to see if there was any improvement?
Kanaf's picture

there might not have been

there might not have been much, i think i only cleared out a few kilobytes.. but i suppose its worth a shot *opens forest*

*EDIT* okay, i got off the forest. and to me, it seemed to have improved just a slight amount. it was kind of skipping between 1 fps and 5 fps. before it skipped between 1 fps and 2 fps! id say thats a small improvement O_o

Defragmenting is basically

Defragmenting is basically compressing files to free up more space.

I'm not sure what your Operating System is, so I can't tell you how to to defrag your PC without knowing it. (I know that there's a different way to access the Defragmenting program depending on rather you're using XP or Visita and if you're using a Mac...Then I know nothing about it. Sticking out tongue )
Kanaf's picture

oh so thats what that

oh so thats what that means... i dont really know how to do that (i guess thats an obvious statement since i didnt know what it meant at first) i use XP. but, like i said about removing programs, i would be a little ginger about doing that, since i dont know what all to compress.

Thanks for the antlers. I'm

Thanks for the antlers. I'm sorry you couldn't log on again after that...

Defrag is a really good idea. (I have Vista, so I can help you find it if need-be). I would still ask for permission, but it won't hurt the computer. Spyware and viruses slow down your computer too. You might want to run virus checks for those as well. Never hurts...

Also, I wouldn't randomly delete programs.I did that once and messed up a computer... Make real sure you know what they are. You can use control+alt+delete and stop some of the programs from running, but make sure you only stop programs that have your name or computer's name on them. Any with "system" shouldn't be deleted. (These programs will load again when you restart the computer. To run The Sims 2, I used to stop tons of programs and then restart when I was finished.)

If none of those things work, it might be your internet connection...
Anzel's picture

I don't think it's

I don't think it's connection, to be honest. Because if it was that, then you could run around in the forest without connecting, and it'd run super fast.
Kumiko's picture

Here is a step-by-step guide

Here is a step-by-step guide on how to defrag your computer. I'm sure that will be an easier to understand explanation than what I can give you. Sticking out tongue
Kanaf's picture

oh i didnt know that was

oh i didnt know that was you, Laruna Sticking out tongue

id agree with Anzel. im pretty sure its the RAM, because i deleted a few things and it minorly improved. plus, i remember Dad telling me that this computer has a ridiculously low amount RAM. i remember that being a problem arising when i tried to get OpenCanvas (which didnt even do anything to the computer XD)
