Okay this is just a stupid thing I'm working on, but I keep finding songs that would fit if there was a soundtrack to
Divine Intervention. Below is a tenative list of songs that would be on the soundtrack, and songs will be added/removed later. Each song title will take you to a Youtube link that plays the song.
You'll notice that most of the songs are either mysterious or sad. I haven't really found any fast-tempo songs that really fit aside from the Good Charlotte one and the Papa Roach one.
Soundtracks/albums generally have 12-15 songs on them, and I want to try to find songs from various genres that would fit what's going on in the story, but we'll see what happens.
Live - The River
Live - Selling the Drama (Quad's Themesong)
Damn Yankees - High Enough
3 Doors Down - Be Somebody
Shinedown - Second Chance (Story Themesong)
Collective Soul - Run
Papa Roach - Time is Running Out
3 Doors Down - By My Side
Hoobastank - Without A Fight (Please ignore the Naruto crap
)
3 Doors Down - Not My Time
Lynard Skynard - Simple Man
Journey - All The Way
Queen - Show Must Go On
Good Charlotte - Broken Hearts Parade
Rob Thomas - Ever The Same
Journey - Knowing That You Love Me
Breaking Benjamin - Rain
If you have any ideas, please let me know or provide a Youtube link so I can hear it.
Really special thanks to Laruna for some of the songs!

Short description of why a few of the songs are there:
Live - The River: I think of it as a song about healing and love, or in Quad's case, cleansing his mind. "Bring your burning skin to my river once again, I'll give you life." It always sounded like a song about deer anyway.
Live - Selling the Drama: This was the song I chose for Quad a while back. I thought it fit his personality, as he often is indecisive, but he's strong and supportive, and he loves the Twin Gods.
Damn Yankees - High Enough: I liked how this one felt nostalgic, maybe like the first time Quad talks to his mother before he has to leave her. Always loved this song and was suprised how well it fit with the story.
3 Doors Down - Be My Somebody: One Laruna picked out. I like the lyrics, because it also feels like a good one for the first time they speak, or it could be like what he wants to tell her when he's older.
Shinedown - Second Chance: I consider this to be the perfect themesong for the story. He talks about telling his parents that he tried to live his life well and that "Sometimes goodbye is a second chance." It fits with the story because Quad wants to see if his mother is still alive and find out where his father is.
Collective Soul - Run: Another Laruna picked out, and it feels good for the planning of the journey Quad has to do.
Papa Roach - Time is Running Out: This one also doesn't *really* fit, but I thought it was a nice song about taking care of things before your time runs out. He says "my whole life is destroyed", which makes me think of Quad's situation.
3 Doors Down - By My Side: Another Laruna picked out. I liked this one because it made me think about how Scorn, Auge, Dim, and Mazey accompany Quad. I also felt like it would lead into the fight scene really well.
Hoobastank - Without A Fight: Pretty straightforward - it's a good fight song for when the deer have to face the Coyotes.
3 Doors Down - Not My Time: You guessed it - Laruna picked this one out too! I thought it would fit well when Quad gets shot by the hunter, but he becomes so much stronger than before.
Lynard Skynard - Simple Man: This one is pretty simple (pun not intended). It's like what Quad's mom says to him when they meet again - to live a simple life and be a simple deer...err, man.
Journey - All The Way: This was a nice one by Journey - another "Quad and his Mother" one, and another one where she's speaking to him. (I know I have too many of these kind of songs in here, so I'll probably choose one or two to keep)
Queen - Show Must Go On: An old favorite song of mine, and while listening to it, it made me think of when the deer make their journey back to The Endless Forest, Quad feeling much stronger than before. It also sounded like a good anti-hero song (Quad not wanting to accept his powers, ect.)
Good Charlotte - Broken Hearts Parade: This one really doesn't fit into the story, but I love to think of it as a TEF song. Although the song is about having problems and such, it's such a happy-sounding song that it makes me think of the deer running, jumping, and dancing.
Rob Thomas - Ever The Same: Laruna picked this one too. Quad wonders whether his experience changed his life or if he'll ever live the same way he did.
Journey - Knowing That You Love Me: Another sweet one. I felt like this would be a good one remembering Quad's mom.
Breaking Benjamin - Rain: This would be the last song on the album, as it would have to do with Quad growing up a little and not being so negative on his outlook of life (which he's really not in-game, but in the story he kinda is).
omg I love "Rain" from
I haven't gone insane......I've gone awesome.

I'll suggest a few... I tried to search my collection (and artists I'm familiar with) for similar themes/songs based on the descriptions you wrote.
All were chosen for their lyrics:
---Sad, but fast-paced
3 Doors Down - Be Somebody
3 Doors Down - By My Side
The new single is pretty good too...."It's Not My Time"
---Sad, ethereal (vocal electronica)
Delerium "Silence," feat. Sarah McLachlan (w/lyrics)
---Sad
Keane - We Might As Well Be Strangers
---Really sad
Rob Thomas - Ever The Same
---Melancholic, leading to hopeful?
Collective Soul - Run
Porcupine Tree - Lazarus
edit: Heh, my descriptions are bad (sad, and really sad? lol).
