The Diary of Seed, 6-30-09
July 1, 2009 - 8:25pm — Seed
I awoke to find Bastillion recovering from defending some fawns against an older stag. The more I see of forest violence, the more it puzzles -- the more it saddens me. They forget, all of them, how pointless it is, the attackers and the counter-attackers alike, as they blend together like reflections, like puddles and rainwater... We cannot be wounded; not truly -- the forest isn't made for it. We are only as wounded as we feel ourselves to be, I believe. So every day, my heart (fragile thing, isn't it?) breaks when I hear of, when I see, the blood and the bruises.
I awoke and sat with him -- this is my place, I think, in times of violence. I sit with the combatents, after their trials are over, and try to help things heal. I cannot decide if I am being wise or cowardly.
After a while, Bastillion left and Scape arrived (I immediately, of course, congradulated him on his proposal; ah, love...). We found a very peculiar thing: a sleeping stag we couldn't see! Not at all! When we were done quaking about it, we joined a stag, naked but for his mask, in a dance. After a while of that, I noticed something most astounding. I noticed, of all things, a nameless stag dancing on the water. It's still my favorite trick, after all this time; I had to rush out and join him. Scape and our bemasked companion joined me, as did a fawn. While the nameless stag fled, we continued to dance among the lillypads. After a while (and some amusing underwater antics, by a deer I did not know) I noticed some fawns on the shore. One was clearly trying to join us, with little success, and the others simply watched and roared. I decided that it was rude to leave them out, and tried to teach them...with limited success. I fell in (twice, once due to joint issues, another time due to a simple mistake), but two fawns joined Scape and I in a second round of water-dancing. And, after a time, it became just the two of us.
After a time, I decided to go and play where it's dry. We mostly began hopping around like ninnies, racing our curving, winding way up the river, guiding us up the river's own mother, the Crying Idol, and to a new line of activity. Eating, Drinking, and being merry. Having fulfilled the last one, we goofed off and did the remaining two, perhaps to excess. The berry juice mingled with the crystaline waters of the crying idol. blending our white-lipped mouths into such a fine, thin shade of blue. After a time, we abandoned this, too, and ran up and down the hills, deeper into the birch forest, until we stopped a while in some rocks and sat, like a pair of nuts in some very hard cookies.
We sat there for a long time, soaking in the birch forest sunlight, feeling the gentle, intangible hardness of the stones around us. Then I heard Zerg on the horizon. After a bit of finagling (and some encouragement from me), they eventually found eachother. I was reminded, the moment they can near enough to touch, of how beautiful love is, to feel and to behold. After I gave them room for a multitude of nuzzles, I went and gave Zerg my regards. Sadly, after that, I had to depart.
I awoke later to see Terrant sitting next to me. I was a little touched: I'm not often as good a friend as I should be. I got up to greet him, and we ran around until we reached the playground. We seem to have developed a game there that we do when timing and mood allows: we try to cross from one end to the other without touching the ground, and only walking across the stones. Well, that's what I'm going for, anyway. I'm not sure if he's playing it quite the same way, but he's at least enjoying himself when we play this -- and so am I. After only one round, though, I ended up collapsing! That happens more often than I'd like it to... It was the end of my day.

Wait, though, the berries may not contain alchohol if they're on the line...
So wouldn't it be more of a sugar high?

Maybe it's the combo of the idolwater and the berries that does it...
