Deer Tattoo Concept

I would LOVE critiques/suggestions on this!

I've been trying to design a deer tattoo for myself. This is my first, ahem, shareable attempt. So, a little background: a doe is my main totem animal. I AM doe, and I'm guided by sparrow (I already have a sparrow tattoo). The deer represents me. The 2 symbols are the zodiac signs for pisces (my son), and gemini (my hubby).
I'm very pleased with how this came out, but I'm not sure if this is the one I'll get. I'll be drawing up some more ideas, but I'd really like to hear what you guys think. Smiling

I really like the design on

I really like the design on this. Its simple forms effectively convey the form and movement of a leaping doe, yet they are not too complicated and would translate well into a tattoo.

Post it up on the wall some place you will see frequently. Leave it there for a year. If you STILL like it at the end of the year, then get it as a tattoo. Eye

It looks like a great idea

It looks like a great idea for a tattoo and I like the tribal look to it also. Does it match what you sparrow tattoo looks like?

Aldana - no, it actually doesn't match my sparrow tattoo. My sparrow is on my right arm and is done in a chinese brush painting style. And now that I'm thinking about that and typing it out, that would probably make a gorgeous deer as well!!!! *thinks of ideas*
The deer tattoo will be on my left arm.
Here's the sparrow tat - it's a painting I did, that my tattoo artist did an AMAZING job with!!!

Wow what an amazing tat! Perhaps you could translate that style for your deer, make it resemble chinese brush strokes?

The lines are really smooth,

The lines are really smooth, I personally like the head and abdomen/back patterns a lot; but the tail clash a bit with the rest, the spiked ending alterate the overall fluid design.
I think it stops short the impression of movement you otherwise conveyed extremelly well, it looks too rigid I guess?

What do you think? :3

I agree - the tail does look a little stiff.

i like the zodiac idea a lot Laughing out loud just keep drawing till you find something you ADORE because tats dont go away easily Sticking out tongue i think it should match your sparrow Smiling BUT like i said...as long as you adore it.
you will know when you've got the right design down Eye

i have a few ideas for simple tattoos
one i drew (just a silhouette of an octopus with 2 arms in a heart)
and then rat paw prints and/or the skaven triangle (if anyone knows what that is...cookies for you!)
