"Figures... I come back and almost no one is around..."
So the red stag thought. Jergens lay on the pond’s shoreline. Not close enough to get wet, but close enough to feel the fallen temperature that the water brought with it. He watched a few deer nearby spell-spamming each other, squinting his eyes each time the light of a spell was cast. It was a normal, lazy summer day. Barely anyone around… More than likely under shade and whatnot…
“Gr-r-r-r-r-r-ow-ow-ow…”
He flicked his ears. The hell? What was that growling? Is sounded like a puppy… A puppy…
A puppy was a dog…
Jergens leapt up and looked around, snuffing the air, and darting his head around. The two spell-spamming deer stopped their play and looked at him uneasily. He ignored them, but frankly, if he had had fingers, they would have been getting a certain middle one right now.
"Hown ere!" A little clicking voice shot up at him from the ground. Jergens slowly tilted his head to the ground and saw... a weird duck... red... thing...
A platypus, actually. Not only that, but a red one as well. Red just like Jergens. It looked up at him and her bill clicked as she spoke. Her words were garbled, and very hard to understand mainly because of her beak. Unlike a pair of lips, they could not form words properly, and the series of sounds she could make were limited.
"Wah hoorh heph, Herhens!" she cried up at him. It wasn't angry, actually, her warped voice carried a very happy tone. Jergens couldn't understand it at all. The voice sounded female, so it was a girl?
"What the Hell are you?" he asked, raising an eyebrow at it. He had never seen a platypus before. The duck-billed flatfoot shook her head and waddled to his left front leg, nibbling at it with her bill.
"Hoorh hoo hoophidh, Herhens. Hoo ahwhehs her..." she mumbled, lightly picking at his curly red fur, cleaning it. She sounded... mocking almost. Jergens didn't like the tone.
"Watch it girly, ya making fun of me or what?" he stared down and mentally melted at the sight. The creature was a bit overweight, giving her a very fluffy, chubby appearance. Her beady black eyes stared right up at him, making her seem all the more adorable.
Oh my god, she's adorable... He grinned a good, old-fashioned friendly Jergens grin, to which she clicks happily in reply.
"Hoo AH Herhens! Ah how hath hinh aheyherh!" she curled around his hoof and chittered joyfully, digging her little claws into the ground.
He blankly stared at her, uncomprehending. "I have... absolutly no idea what yer yammering, man. It's cute as hell, don't get me wrong. But yer drawing a blank on me." he shrugged his shoulders and sat back down, letting his face get closer to her. She squeaked and reached a webbed foot to his face.
"Hoophid Herhens! Ahm hoh haphey! buhher Herhens!" she clicked once and lightly pecked his chin, her way of a kiss. Jergens grinned in responce, already liking the little fat ball of platypus that he had been blessed with. "Man, yer really cute, and yer red, too! Nice combination." he chuckled. The little mammal simply purred in reply.
"Ah hoove ooo, high buhher Herhens!"

You're so stupid, Jergens. You always were...
You ARE Jergens! I know that grin anywhere!
Stupid Jergens! I'm so happy! Brother Jergens!
I love you, big brother Jergens!

Pointless. But I needed an outlet for my writers block with my fawn storyteller requests. Jergens and Olay meet after the longest time in the forest. Olay is happy, but Jergens has no effing clue.
