The Day he Roared (Ch.3 Surrender)

Fern Fire gazed at the fawn “He’s…the deer who’s caused all of this.”

“I know Fern Fire but … I must go,” Maria huffed.

“What do you mean,” Fern Fires eyes furrowed.

“I have some things to attend to outside of this forest. I’ve been watching this fawn and I have been hiding it from the others. I fear they might kill him if they see him. He speaks very mind boggling things…And I know they mean something. And I know you are the only one who can understand it. But for now I leave you,” Maria backed away slowly. She turned away from him and left. Her hoof beats where low and quick with pace. Why was she leaving the forest?

Fern Fire gazed down at the fawn, it’s clear white eyes staring at him. “What’s wrong with you? Why do you stare at me, what’s happened to you,” Fern Fire lowered his head and gazed back at the fawn.

The fawn whispered “A gift from God, with a loving palm came down from heaven and blessed me. He whispered in my ear both noble and clear, and told me to search for the King of deer. To summon the deer and break him where he stands. But to do it all, for I am not noble and not tall, I need someone of opposite. His fur is red and fire in his head, but his heart keeps him in control. But to set him free and tear away the needs and restart the forest again.”

“…Me…,” Fern Fire gasped. “You’ve been talking about me all along. Tell me something fawn…Why did Maria leave?”

“…In her eyes it is not you,” the fawn stared.

/~*~/

Fern Fire hid the fawn in deep grass so no one could see him. He would leave the fawn for an hour or two to go find some feed, but he would never go into the field. His mind was shaken with fear and anger. And he realized how much he despised the King.
He could hear his chants he would say “Join me and we shall find the fawn. We shall rid of his nonsense. It is time we take a stand! If God will not help us then we shall help our selves! Rid of it! Rid of Fern Fire, rid of the Roar!”

His wife, Ginger would normally jump in to help. The King had finally chosen a mate. The weather was getting colder and Fern Fires neck began to swell, the rut was coming. He was hoping that Maria would return. But no sign of her return had yet appeared, and his patients wore thin.

His antlers began to spike up and he would rub the velvet off his antlers. They wear very sharp, almost as big as the Kings. He walked around till he came to an old building broken down some years ago. The voice of the King echoed in his head. Saying how foolish he was. He could stand it no longer. Then, hoof beats appeared and the King stood ten feet away from him. “Ah, if it isn’t the foolish little Fern Fire? You know things been going very smoothly since you where gone. Your friends are acting foolish and I had to put them in there place. One of them are missing though? What was his name Prong I think? Yes he also had be taught a lesson some time ago. See none of this would happen if they fallowed what I said. That’s why I’m here to tell you to come and join us again.”

“And what? Join your herd of mindless fools no thanks,” Fern Fire scowled.

“I know you have the Roar and I will send deer to find it, now you have too choices join us or-.”

“No thanks, I’d rather fight you than join you herd of ridiculous cruelty everyone here is suffering can you not see that,” Fern Fire lowered his head and kicked dirt.

“Are you shore about that...Anyway why not? Let’s make it more interesting if you kill me you can become king and do what you want with the fawn. But if I kill you the fawn will be killed four days from now.”

“Then what are you waiting for,” Fern Fire yelled and charged forward. King Vin-has caught his antlers and shook his head violently. Fern fire yanked his antlers out and charged once more. Again there antlers clashed and Fern Fire pushed and curved, almost cracking Van-hass’ neck.

Once again they pushed away and gasped for air. “You’ve grown a lot,” the King smiled.

“No my hatred for you has grown,” Fern Fire gasped.

“Vin-has,” a doe flew through the bushes and stared at her King.

The King turned his head and stared at his queen” What are you doing hear leave at once!”

Fern Fire saw his chance and rammed his antlers into the neck of Vin-has. The doe ran to her King and sniffed his body it laid motionless. A fawn came to it’s mother and tears came to there eyes. The doe looked up to see if Fern Fire was still there.

But Fern Fire walked proudly away and said “Tell your friends there is a new King….

And he has no faults.”
