Daneth: Watermark

Sighthoundlady's picture

Larger Version On DA

Daneth. The big lummox had to go and ascend. Grew wings. Has no clue what to do with them. Keeps jumping off the high shore of the pond...only to plunge into the water. Again and again. Getting a little depressed about it. And all wet.

Once again, thanks to everyone who popped in for a visit on Livestream. Smiling

SnowSauria: Yes! He could use some tips! Usually a Latharan would have a mentor to train them…but one has never been reborn into the forest before so he’s on his own. And thanks so much.

Kaoori: Thank you! The water was such an experiment. I had no clue what I was doing, lol.

bluejay17: Thanks so much.

PandaXiongMao: Thank you! Those koi are probably thinking what a klutz he is, lol!

Iaurdagnire: Thank you! Yeah, Dag got to witness his inelegant crashes into the pond, the big silly head.

Silensia: Thank you! The pond is a nice soft landing for trying to learn to fly…but it sure is wet!

Shiori: Thanks so much. ^^
Those wings have done far more swimming then flying so far.

Graveyard: Yes, he could use some tips! Lol. Thanks for keeping me company whilst drawing. It makes it a lot more fun when I’m not alone. Smiling

Thanks Pegasicorn! It was an effect I really hoped I'd be able to pull off, wanted his wings to be lifting out of the pond with water running off them. ^^

This is a striking piece of work, damn, you're really really good.
!!
Can I ask, how did you do the water effect? The small puddle gathered on th top of his right wing is also reflected on the water, when we should see the appendage from below..so do you copy the pic paste it beneath the original and work on it to get a watery feel? Or is it something else?
How my brain noticed this detail at this hour I dunt even now.

OkamiLugia: Thanks so

OkamiLugia: Thanks so much!
Nayu: Thank you. And you are so correct, the reflection is incorrect. I was mucho lazy and just inverted the image. Then smudged ripples into it and painted the water effects over that. Sticking out tongue

The depth of field here is wonderfully done. The reeds in the foreground let the eye travel to Daneth in the distance. I absolutely love what you did with the rivulets of water, as well as the ripples; it really implies that Daneth had just made a crash-landing, hehe! The koi fish are a nice touch, as well as the lilypads and the little glow on the flower. Is Herla lighting it from beneath? J/K! Sticking out tongue
