August 12, 2016 - 11:40pm — Rya
The eternal spring of the forest twittered on. Every day as the last, with only the smallest changes. New fawns were brought into the world in the usual way, and older deer passed on from the world as they did from time to time.
Rya stood among the dandelions, leaning down to closely watch the blossoms. For her, the only passage of time was watching the dandelions turn puffy so she could blow them away, sowing new golden blossoms along the forest floor.
Now she was patiently waiting for the latest one to open, staring rather intently at it with deep blue-green eyes.
Her horns swept back along her neck almost blending with the grey-blue of her mottled iridescent pelt. A dainty hoof nudged the flowers leaves.
"Come on... puff." She lows softly at the stubborn blossom.
As if expecting the bloom to respond she snorts toward it. "I'll eat you if you don't hurry up."
A rusty brown young buck with
From what he heard, she wanted it to puff out and she threatened to eat it if it refused. Being a bit playful and curious to see her reaction, the plant prince changed the dandelion into what he called a 'wishberries'. Growing ram horns were brushing against the grass, trying to find where his mask had gone; he was certain it was here somewhere...Ahh, there it was!
After situating his long-faced mask on, the strapping lad gracefully walked forward. "I see I am not the only one who likes these plants. Do not be alarmed, for the Bamboo Prince will not harm you."
The curled up head of the
Imagine her surprise then when the head opened and rather than a pretty fluffy bunch of seeds was a cluster of berries!
She yelped out in surprise as the flower changed and looked around. Spotting the young buck the female blinked several times. She eyed the long-faced buck and his swirled ram horns. Her eyes darted down his side to the swirled pelt before going back to his face.
She was surprised more by the berry turned dandelion than by the buck's appearance. The younger deer were always popping out of odd places on her.
Rya tossed her head a bit, lifting herself up to her whole flank height. A mini deer female with the iridescent coat mimicking a magpie's glossy feathers and swept back horns.
"Bamboo Prince?" She questioned with a quiet voice. "You don't seem to be a dangerous kind. I've seen a few of them. And of course I like them. These yellow blossoms are amazing. They're sticky and sweet, the greens are tasty, and they change forms."
With a sidelong glance at the berries where the dandelion had been. "They don't usually change form -that- much though." A dainty hoof stamped into the ground leaving the small imprint.
The chestnut male grinned
Bamboo Prince? The title
The title rolled around in the small doe's mind a while as she watched the masked buck. She lifted a dainty hoof to poke at the used-to-be-a-flower berries before giving a toss of her head and bending down to sniff them.
Strange deer appearances didn't bother her. Sneaking around in tall grass and flowers wasn't as unsettling to her as it probably should have been. But turning flowers into berries? That was new.
And new, she very well knew, could lead to interesting adventures.
"His Majesty? Who's majesty? I'm Rya, by the way." She sniffed the berries again, then nudged them with her nose.
"Anything I can imagine?" She looks thoughtfully at the berry before taking a bite.
Immediately regretting her decision she made an awful face and scrambled back, tripping over her own hooves as her tongue hung out and she glared at the berries.
Both forelegs rub at her face and tongue as she shakes her head, frantically trying to rid herself of the awful taste in her mouth.
Perhaps she shouldn't have been thinking of the koi fish in the muddy pond bank.
