Curious...

Banteris's picture
So here I am with Banteris, my fawn, yet I've no idea how I can express his character or traits that make him different from any other deer.
(I find the limited duration of items on the fawns annoying, as it doesn't really make me want to try and develop the character if his look wont stay put for more than a minute. Constantly having to re-Load the stuff I want is frustrating, just thought i'd get that out there.)

So I was wondering if a few of you might be interested in telling me about your deer and how you developed them as their own character. It might help me log on for more than 30 minutes if I can get into this game. XD;

Regards,
Bant

I write, draw and roleplay

I write, draw and roleplay with my deer waaay more than I'm in forest 83
it helps, you can post on a biography to start a roleplay or make a new blog 83
This account is a biography holder. Nothing more.

I don't usually play TEF for

I don't usually play TEF for longer than 30 minutes, and even then I usually have something else running (like looking on The Community, doing some drawing or writing). TEF for me is a background, something that I can interact with for a bit of a break should I need it, or just enjoy the atmospheric sounds of The Forest.

As for my characters, I'm not sure. I've always loved making characters and I find it comes naturally to me, but one solid piece of advice from me to you; don't form your character around how the deer will look in The Forest. Focus on personality, on what you actually find fun about The Forest...if you find yourself enjoying dancing, make that a part of your character, if you enjoy certain places, those can be favorite places for your character too. Let the way your character looks reflect who it is, not dictate the character itself.

Developing my deer Anjali has

Developing my deer Anjali has been difficult for me, too. But I try to notice how I act and feel when I'm in the Forest. I tend to be nervous about approaching other groups of deer and feel uncomfortable sitting right next to ones I don't know, so Anjali (my deer) is "shy". I love playing with the cute fawns and am fascinated by nameless deer, so that became part of Anjali's personality too. I like the pond, so that's one of Anjali's favorite places...but I don't really like the Ruins, so Anjali is a bit frightened of them. Then I might try to build off something like that: why is Anjali scared of the Ruins? Does he hear voices there? See ghosts?

I also ask myself questions about my deer, if I'm trying to think of ideas:

Does he have a family? What were his parents like? Does he remember them?

I hope that helps, but it might make no sense. xD

Sometimes I leave brd in the

Sometimes I leave brd in the forest while I am sleeping and let him sleep, too. Other times I play to go and meet strangers, or to meet friends I have interacted with before. These relationships are built over time, by encountering each other repeatedly.

Sometimes I want to be with as many others as possible, even if I don't know them. And other times, I only want to be with one, even if they are a stranger. Sometimes I go to be alone, or to watch the others from a distance.

I base my actions on the actions of others and how they make me feel. I just go with my feelings and see what happens. Appearance doesn't matter since my name will never change, and I can be recognized by that.

And it seems, too, brd has developed a personality through this playing style, without me intending it.

If we play together maybe you will get to know him, and we will get to know you.

I don't strive to be the best, but instead I strive to do my best, and always give it my all every time.
