This is going to be some of the conversations between my two characters Ird and Lilith. Some will be written in poem format and some won't. Not sure how many of these there will be.

Does She Remember?
"You'll leave. Everyone does."
Four words spoken from the heart
Weary little one, the truth is often heavy is it not?
You're so earnest dear, how many have you seen go?
Close my eyes, bow my head
The truth is hard to blind
"Yes. I've always been a leaver....why stay when no one else does?"
I look at her, eyes narrowed
Something as big as her, scared?
You can go, leave anytime you want
Seek what you must
I remain here.
No matter what.
"Of course you'll go! No one cares about Ird!"
Oh little creature....don't you know?
If you love it let it go
This world will forget me, drag me down and kill me
I'll fade from your memory too
I can never stay.
"I do. I-I can't stay, I'll be here until the end of time."
---------------
Are you?
Today was a quiet one, no demons, no battles, no mentally unstable individuals to cause panic. The great blue doe was sunning herself on her favorite willow hill, soaking up the sunshine like a lazy cat. She carefully watched the hyperactive grass creature bounce about the base of a willow close to hers, the last time she'd let her guard down she ended up getting hit in the face by an excited koi fish. Not something she wanted to repeat, the irritating creature had shrieked in amusement by her hissing, spitting reaction. The very recollection of that event makes her eyes narrow and a huff rise out of her.
When it finally settles down with a large frog, she allows herself to doze off a bit. Face turned away from the idol spirit, eyes closed. In all honesty she should be able to hear it if it starts moving again, the thing manages to sound like a small elephant.
Ird crouches down next to the frog happily, it took winning a jumping contest to just make the frog stay awhile. Seems every frog it meets thinks they're too high and mighty to keep a little old Ird company without getting something in return. Or maybe it just doesn't understand frogs very well. Hmmm....going to have to find another frog to ask cause this one already knows what Ird's doing.
"You know you're actually really pretty right?" It chirps at the grumpy frog.
The frog lets out a low croak as if disbelieving the idol spirit's comment.
"NO REALLY! Everything has beauty to it, absolutely everything. Maybe not the conventional, ordinary commonplace kind of beauty but the unique kind, like a new caterpillar, a cactus, even bones have that kind of prettiness. It's different but still wholly beautiful in a way that most don't even see until someone else shows em. That's amazing right? How one person, one instance can alter the way you see something for the rest of the part of forever that you'll see. You're an deep earth, cool water, smooth green kind of beauty. Like deep ponds covered over in lichen and water plants, secretive and unseen for the most part. You don't care what others might think cause you know exactly what and who you are. You are a frog and you're happy with it cause you make a darn good one!"
After spewing all that it curls up next to the frog and nudges it. The grass stag cuts a conspiratorial glance at the dozing giant laying on the bank and tilts its head close to the startled frog.
"You see her over there? She's beautiful too. Quiet and cold that one is, just like her pelt. You know something frog? She reminds Ird of a mountain. One of the tall ones that almost reach the sky and had caps of glistening icy snow around them all year long. The kind of mountain that stays there for a very long time, not giving very much care to all the wildlife that comes and goes around it. In fact there's a quote that someone said once: The generations rose and fell like so many waves upon the beach, and he stood alone, a rocky unmoveable sentinel, letting the waves of humanity pass him by, hardly noticing them at all. Lovely isn't it? She's like that. A rugged grand kind of beauty, movable and strong as steel. She's no silk and gossamer girl Ird'll tell you that. More of a leather and kevlar kind. Ird gets the feeling that she's going to be here even after we're all gone, after our children and our children's children, all across the generations."
It paused, gazing at the uninterested frog intently. Letting the creature listen to the words the echo leaves behind. Soak up all the meaning behind each syllable. On the far bank one blue ear twitches, half listening to the spirit's endless prattle. She hasn't hidden herself as well as she thought.
"But Ird's gonna tell ya a secret. She's all warm and caring on the inside, like a volcano that's been asleep so long the snow's forgotten to stay away. At the core she's bubbling and turning like magma boiling away under rocks. She shows her love in little ways, hot springs to warm all the little creatures and weary travelers should they need it and in strong sheltering bows of the few trees that dare brave life on those slopes. And if she's angered...all that hate comes rushing out in a fountain of rath and there ain't no way she's gonna stop until nothing's left."
The frog eyes the water mournfully, waiting for an opening to get away from the meaningless chatter. The old doe is of no concern, a stranger and therefore not worth its time. Not like she's a frog anyways. Oblivious, the beflowered stag grins mischievously, humming with trickery.
"She's a kickass grandmother! And a mother too!"
Those words finally get the behemoth's full attention, prompting her to open her eyes and stare at the creature and its reluctant temporary companion. She blinks slowly, watching as it flattens itself and tries to become invisible.
"Ird what are you saying to that frog?" She demands sternly.
"N-n-nothin! Ird ain't been saying nothing!" It peeps at her.
Eyebrow raise she waits for it to crack, fighting a smile as it nervously peers up at her. Oh for heaven's sake, it's odd sort of adorable.
"You telling my secrets to a frog?"
It frowns guilty. "Yes. Ird was." it admits sullenly.
A sudden laugh bursts out of the female. Her secrets told to a strange frog, it's too funny not to laugh at. After freezing for a moment out of surprise it starts laughing too and unoticed the frog finally gets to hop its way to the pond. Darn deer and all their yapping.
