The Coming of Winter [ RP full!]

Mary13's picture
Feel free to track, but this RP is full. 4/4

So umm, I'm really getting into this stuff and I wanted to start my own. The character I'll be playing here is Manda (OOC, you can check his bio for more information) obviously, and this is meant to happen in a really chilly environment ( the Forest is nearing winter and the air is mostly cold, however there is no snow.).

This RP is meant to focus on character communication and conversation mostly ( prepare to get pretty deep, there may be adult themes here.) , but nobody knows what will happen if this actually progresses further than me talking alone huehue.

Under cut.

Rules:

- Use unique stories and have an actual background/certain nature to your character. You don't have to have perfect english and you need not to worry about length, just make sure you write everything that's on your character's mind and don't just describe what your character DOES but what she/he THINKS and what gestures they make.
- No swear words unless absolutely necessary to your character, please.
- ANYONE can join, I don't care if you know Manda or not.
- Remember to be pretty active - I don't want to wait weeks for a reply as it makes continuing it hard for everyone.
- Remember to respect other characters and what they have to say.
- I would prefer if they have to check out their appearance. However, if they don't have one, describe it in the comment before you join.

Ready..set..go.

---------------------------

The stag was shivering as the wind suddenly changed it's heading. The warm air that usually filled the Forest seemed to escape to the south, fearful of it's sibling that came down from the northern mountains breathing it's cold mist upon the Forest in attempt to take over. The wind kissed the trees harshly, clinging to them like an insect in its master's fur.

The stag was worried about the sudden change in the air. The rut was nearing its end, but it would take time for the other stags to finally calm down and start preparing themselves for winter. The ones who had does beside them were lucky; they had someone to take care of them while their intense hormones cooled down for another year. The stag didn't want to imagine what would happen to the losers of this year's rut - they were alone, their pride and respect had dropped to zero and on top of that, they were most likely injured. They'd have to struggle to survive, as the cold would make it harder for the wounds to close.

On his journey to find solitude from the rut's last fights, he found himself enjoying peace and quiet in the birch forest. It felt different today. Manda didn't come here too often, he didn't like the height of the birches, too far away to eat the leaves and the tree bark tasted horrible. Of course, as soon as winter would be coming he would have to swallow that yucky stuff in order to survive. The tree bark was easily accessible.

The birch forest seemed almost abandoned, if not for the sounds that the birds made. Most of them would follow the escaping warm wind to the south, and it seemed like they were already ready to make the journey. They were as surprised by the sudden change as the stag had been minutes ago. In the distance, the intense sounds of rutting were still noticeable, but the stag was glad that the sounds had quieted down quite a lot during these past few days. Even when the rutting deer had almost lost their minds to instincts, it was necessary. Even if created by lust rather than love, it would mean new fawns in the spring.

The stag eventually sat down by the playground rocks, seeking high ground to stay out of the cold air attacking the flowers. He shivered again as the wind entered his legs - they had always been sensitive to the cold. This would mean he'd be getting frost injuries early this year. Yay.
This month was the worst of the year, but at least there was one joy coming up - Velocity. Even the name alone brought an exciting warmth to the buck's heart. His mood was quickly ruined by the cold wind going through his face, blowing out one of his candles. Quickly he decided to try and bury his face in his thick orange fur, listening to the rut sounds that were nearing their end. It seemed like that in the distance, someone was losing.

(( *sneaks in and sits down*
I might as well. Need to get my characters more active. ^^
Gonna be using Lucas, since he's my main muse at the moment. ))

---
He would say that he never understood just what the stags fought for during this time of year, but he'd be lying. Nearly all deer were hit with the instincts that the time before winter brought. Some more then others. This forest had similarities to the outside world, but it was in no way the same, and that made it all the more interesting.

Such thoughts were kicked from his mind at the sudden breeze that ruffled his multicolored fur, ears perking up as he lifted his head from where he'd been rubbing it against a tree. It was cold. Colder then the breezes and winds before. But he was not all that surprised of the change, more of how sudden it was. Seemed winter might have been coming a little earlier then expected, which meant that the opportunity to take dips in the pond was going to plummet. He didn't want to end up frozen or sick after all, and he doubted his siblings would like that either.

He stepped away from the tree, mask falling back down as he relaxed into his stride and set off through the tall birch trees at a slow trot, tail flicking now and then. Well, at least the grasses would provide some warmth for the inhabitants of the forest... until snow settled and covered the ground. To be honest, he'd never been fond of colder weather. Being as big as he was, the cold got to his joints and made them stiff. It didn't help that his back was more of a reflective surface then one that collected heat. It was a drawback to being a piebald and wishing to sit in the sun to soak up the rays.

He could still hear the echoing bellows and cracks of late rut participants through the trees, hoping that all of them would be well enough when winter actually set in. But for now, they had some time to cool down and relax before the weather started to get worse.

There was a clap as his hoof struck a stone, having been lost in thought, not realizing he'd reached the rocks of the playground. He stopped, lifting his head up to look at the boulders the deer used to play. Parts of the surface had been worn smoother from so many hooves moving over them, and it made him smile at the thought that so many had enjoyed the places before them.

The breeze brought a scent that he somewhat recognized, a curious huff leaving the stag as he turned his head towards the higher ground. A few steps forward, and he spotted the wavering lights of the candles, slowly moving towards them to see if his guess was correct. It was indeed, as he noticed the orange male curled in on himself, trying to keep any heat he possessed. It took a moment for the, usually solitary, male to decide that sharing heat was probably better then leaving the other there, and moved over to settle himself down between Manda and the wind, pressing his fur against the other. He hoped he was not being a bother.

The orange stag stood up in

The orange stag stood up in surprise as soon as the big buck sat down beside him. His senses sharpened and his muscles tingled as he was ready to defend himself if needed.

Quickly he calmed down after recognizing the stag's multicolored coat. The hard, cold wind took the stranger's scent with it - so chilly it was that it almost hurt Manda's nostrils as he tried to sniff the air. However, he knew there was something familiar about this stag. He remembered seeing a fur colored like that once not too long ago. He sat down again in silence, while trying really hard to remember the stranger's name. Gladly, it didn't seem like he had come here to challenge him into a fight as most of the stags this month had done - instead, it seemed as though he needed the silence and warmth as much as Manda did.

It was appreciated greatly, and the stag smiled slightly at the stranger. As he focused on the eyes beyond the stranger's long mask, he thought he finally knew him. The light from his candles illuminated the stranger's face, and after that there was no doubt. "Lucas, was it?" He asked slowly with a deep, rough voice. He didn't know if he was correct, but his memory was sharper than the average deer's. Curiously he sharpened his ears to hear any words his new companion would say.

The rush to get up had him

The rush to get up had him shift slightly, turning his head so he could look at the startled stag out of the large eye hole of the skull he wore on his face. He hadn't meant to startle him, and he felt a little bad. Although, he was sure the other would calm down once he saw he was no threat. You could never be too careful around this time of year after all.

He was silent, just watching the other with curiosity as to what he would do next. Would he sit back down or move off? Either way, Lucas didn't mind. After all, he had invited himself to join the other. Some of the deer and creatures in this forest were not fond of others intruding on peaceful moments, especially if the one intruding was someone they didn't know, or didn't know well. Others did not mind. But you never really knew until you approached someone.

He noticed the smile, and how the orange stag seemed to relax, which, in turn, made Lucas a lot more relaxed, ears flicking around to listen to the sounds of the forest. His tail flicked slightly, before the question had him turn his head towards the other, nodding. He lowered his head and lifted a hoof to gently place it in the front of the crocodile skull, pulling the mask from his face. Hazel eyes looking back to the other, a small smile on his lips.

"It's nice to see you again. I apologize if I startled you. Ya looked cold. Thought I could help."
Mary13's picture

The orange stag appreciated

The orange stag appreciated that Lucas had removed his mask. It made talking all the much easier, and Manda could properly see the stag's impression. It showed him that the buck wasn't uncomfortable or wary in his company.
Secretly he wished that he could have done that himself, as well. However, since it would just cause unnecessary reminders of his past and make him so vulnerable to every last word others would say, he lowered his head as a manner of apologising for his behaviour. He just couldn't take the mask off.

Lucas had seemed really patient with him, only slightly moving from his position as Manda had stood up startled. The stag had awaited for Manda to calmfully lay back down before saying anything, which the candle-antlered stag was grateful for. He had always been kind of jumpy, especially when he didn't expect to see anyone in the birches this time of year. A word in his scared state would have probably caused Manda to flee from the scene or poke the stranger with his antlers - that wouldn't have been a happy ending.

The orange stag watched as the stranger nodded upon hearing his name, and his voice was calm when he spoke, taking out the last bit of stress that Manda had left in his muscular body. He let his ears relax and slowly exhaled to get all the tensity away from his body. It was clear that this stag hadn't joined in with the rut. He smiled back at Lucas, still a little embarassed about being scared for nothing, before answering him softly: " I-it's okay, I get wary of everybody around this month, and I should be the one apologising for my prejudice. " He smirked, chuckling rather awkwardly. The next breeze of the cold forced him to close his eyes for a while, before he glanced at the sky, worried. His eyes focused on the gray, cloudy sky as he mumbled, quite straightforward :
"I don't like how the air is today. It just seems.. wrong, like somebody forcefully pushed the warmth away from the forest and from our hearts, as well. I wonder if the gods are angry from the intense rut this year? There's been so much fighting." He let out a deep sigh in disappointment, before he asked the stag : " What do you think of all this?"

The only time he kept his

The only time he kept his mask on in company was when he was not familiar with the other, or he felt somewhat threatened. After all, a crocodile skull was very much like a helmet, with how thick and heavy the bone was. There was a reason he only had the top half of the skull. He'd been thinking of using the whole thing when he found it, but it had been way too heavy. Using only the top added only a slight amount of weight added to his head, that of which he could stand because of his antlers.
He didn't mind that Manda didn't move to take off his own mask. It was really none of his concern what the stag wished to do when it came to such things.

As for seeming patient, patience was something that Lucas was known for among his two siblings. He'd always been the one that would stand back while the other two rushed forward to check something out. He was more of an observer and listener then anything else. And he knew that when someone was scared, they could lash out at whatever it was that had startled them. Which was why he had waited for the orange male beside him to show signs of relaxing. The last thing he needed was to be gored and burned by the prongs and candles on the other's tines.

He listened quietly before he couldn't help a small chuckle.
"Mmm... I do not blame you. You do not know who is friend or foe until they make their intentions clear. So it is smart to be wary, even not around this time of year." Which was true. Anyone could attack at any time, so it was better to observe and judge if you were willing to associate with another, then not taking caution. Although, not taking risks was also bad. Because you didn't know what you could be missing. Merida had told him that he was a little bit too quiet and that he held himself back when things were obviously not a danger or bad. He agreed with her that sometimes he could be too wary. But that was just how he was. It was how he had always been.

His eyes followed the other's gaze up towards the sky, looking at the dark clouds overhead. They looked heavy with whatever it was they were carrying be it rain, sleet or snow. But until they allowed their cargo to fall, no one would know except for them. Lucas was silent still, lowering his gaze to look at the mask that sat on the ground, a thoughtful hum leaving his lips.
"I try not to meddle too much in the idea of what the Gods are thinking. If they wish us to know, then something will happen. If this is their doing, then there might be many reasons behind it. Trying to quell the fighting is at he top of the list. But maybe they are bringing forward the season as to shorten it for when any fawns will be born. As much as we may anger out creators, they do still want to see us in good fortune. But, I guess, the reason behind such a sudden change will vary between the ones you ask. If winter starting now means less of the cols months, and more warmth, then I cannot say I am complaining." He smiled gently, fur bristling a little as the cool fingers of the winds danced up along his back. He guessed they will find out just what nature and the Gods had in store for them soon enough.

The orange stag listened to his new companion intently, but he was unable to take his eyes off the sky for a while. Lucas said words that were true, but the orange stag found it really hard to think positive as all the odds were against him. It had been so long since he had even mentioned the gods to another being - to be honest, he was losing his faith in their good will. Ever since they had taken his dear friend away and left him alone to face the winter a few years ago, he had doubted their intentions. However, he did feel hopeful as the stag spoke of spring.

Manda had always loved spring, his favorite of the seasons. It was a signal of hope, a sign for the winter survivors that they would be able to enjoy of another year in the Forest with their friends and family. The first, tasty patch of grass that would appear in the ground was the best. However, Manda enjoyed the spring best because of the fawns. He had always wanted one of his own, but does tended to avoid him - he couldn't blame them as he was a social hermit and it was hard for him to make any acquaintances. The does appereciated strength over anything else, as they wanted to make sure their mate was able to defend the family. Manda didn't lack in strength in physical terms - it was his unchangeable mentality that was the problem. Still, he looked forward to the spring to be able to play with the newborns if their parents allowed.

Even sweet little Emilia who he had loved the most had now grown up and lost interest in him. She had begun to take interest in deers her age and as old as Manda had become, he was no longer needed in her life.

The orange stag finally moved his gaze to his companion, who was waiting for a response with a gentle smile upon his face. The buck seemed to be serious with his words, not just spouting happy-go-lucky nonsense with zero faith in his own words. The orange stag admired his positive thinking. Lucas spoke of things that were true without being ignorant or naive of the future. As the next wave of cold air landed on the stone they were sitting on, the stag felt the pain again in his ankles, and he coughed a little before leaning closer to Lucas for warmth. " I admire your positive thinking," he said as he heard antlers crackle in the distance, quickly followed by intense cheering. The fight was over, but Manda knew it was only the beginning for the winning stag. He'd have a lot of enthusiastic challengers in line.
"I just can't find the strength for it. This month has been tiring as it is, but now we all have work to do preparing for the winter earlier than usual. The stags still need time to calm down from their.. crazed state and it worries me. Their wounds take time to recover, and the weakest won't survive without constant help. How many of us are truly prepared to help those in need? What if you saw an old stag wandering about in mid-winter, nearly starved and hardly having the strength or will to stand up? " The orange stag paused to breathe, as the vision he was having in his head was getting out of hand. " Would you.. would you go to his assistance even when you knew, that helping him would make life a bigger burden for you in winter?" As his breathing quickened, he asked himself the same question deep in his brain. Would he do that?
Probably not.

He soon noticed that he wasn't giving his companion a change to speak, and he quickly shut his mouth embarassed, moving his gaze down to his front trotters. This happened too often when he tried to talk to others - his thinking was too egoistic. He was afraid his warm companion would run away after hearing his emotional burst, but at the same time he was surprised by how open he'd just been with Lucas, despite this being the second time seeing him. The stag seemed friendly and easy to talk to, and opening up to him seemed to come almost naturally. However, Manda knew not how far the patience would last - considering that he himself was not easy company for others. He might just have ruined his chances to make a new friend.

He was usually not so open about his positivity. Then again, he was not one to really talk to many about anything. Sure, once he felt comfortable, he would open up a little more. But even then, he was usually more of a listener then talker. But something about this moment had him a little more talkative. Might have been the fact that neither stags liked the thought of the cold weather setting in. A feeling of familiarity making Lucas a lot more relaxed then what he usually would have been. Or maybe he just had something more to say. Either way, he wanted to make sure that Manda was cheered up a little, even if he could not do much. He could still help.

He met the other's eyes as the other looked back at him from the sky before feeling the breeze and the orange male move a little closer. He shifted, pressing his side against the other to share as much body heat as he could. At least their height from the lower parts of the forest, kept the worst of the cold air away. But up here on the boulders, there was no real shelter from any of the elements. Thankfully, the old stones kept the warmth of the sun that had been shining earlier. Lucas was suddenly curious if anyone else in the forest had noticed the sudden change, the echoing of antlers diverting his gaze through the trees in the direction of the sound.

His attention is brought back to the orange pelted figure next to him, watching quietly, ears turned towards him. That was rather easy to understand. Even with non-participants the feeling in the air was rather exhausting. He had noticed that he had been resting a lot more then usual. But that might have just been the cold weather as well. Either way, he could understand what Manda was getting at. He kept his silence as he took in the rest of the other's words, the only sound being a soft breath now and then as he sucked in the frigid air.

He shifted at the question, dropping his gaze to the rock again.
"I cannot say I would let the elder starve. But I would not want to interfere with what nature and the gods have planned. Deer leave this place when they are meant to. Some come back. Some don't. It is what has been chosen for them and they have to follow the path that has been laid before them. I know this. My siblings do too... but they would probably be a lot harder to persuade to leave well enough alone then myself. Both are too curious and willing to help for their own good sometimes." He paused, rolling his shoulders again.

"But their hearts are in the right place, as are many who live amongst the trees of this forest. I am certain that there are many who would be willing to help those in need. Especially if they happened to know the other in some way. If they are up to the challenge, then we cannot really tell them not to. But until something like that comes around, the cold weather sets in... I guess we do not have to worry too much. We just have to make sure we, ourselves are prepared for the months ahead."

The orange stag listened as

The orange stag listened as Lucas explained his views in a calm tone, not seeming to care too much about Manda's social awkwardness in these situations. The stag was very grateful, smiling to himself as he listened, ears twitching with heartwarming pleasure. You couldn't meet a being like this every day. His breath slowed down again, now synchronizing with the occasional breezes. He tried to breathe through his nostrils when the wind wasn't blowing straight to his face.

" You're very honest. You don't act like the good saint who would immediately shout out his willingness to help, but you wouldn't abandon others either. It's true enough that we all have a certain time decided for us, but it isn't always fair.", he finally replied, unable to think of anything smarter to say as he took the words in to measure them in his head. Soon he added with a saddened tone: " I.. there was one spring when I actually assisted one of my old friends as she was having her fawn. It.. it was stillborn. I felt angry at our Gods back then, they didn't even give the young buckling a chance to see the Forest or her loving mother before passing away. " The stag opened his eyes once more, not remembering that he had closed them mid-sentence.

Quickly he shook the unpleasant memory from his head, turning his focus on his companion once more, smiling as a way of saying sorry again. He didn't want to ruin his friend's hopeful spirits, especially when winter was on its way. He watched as the cold air moved slowly but steadily on the ground, eating the flowers as it passed over them like a wraith. He was a little afraid of the cold as it could mean serious danger for him. He shivered a little, more out of fear than actually feeling cold. The stag tried to focus on something else, and very soon he was reminded of what Lucas had said. " You have family in this place?" He asked curiously, sharpening his hearing to listen to his companion through the intensified wind. The orange stag got more worried as the fire from his second candle vanished into nothingness. This rarely happened, and the stag knew what it meant - a storm would be kicking up soon.

Social awkwardness was

Social awkwardness was something that Lucas was rather familiar with. He was not as social as his siblings, so when it came to interacting with others, he could seem rather blunt and sometimes, downright grumpy at times. But that didn't mean he didn't like to talk to others. He just wasn't as big with gatherings as others might be. He didn't know why, but being alone or with a small group of friends, for him, usually felt better than being in a large group.

He lifted his gaze to Manda once more, listening intently to what the stag had to say. A gentle breath left Lucas' lips, before he he glanced up towards the approaching clouds. "A lot of things are not fair when it comes to life. It's how we are tested to see if we are willing and able to go on. But, just because it is not fair, doesn't mean it is bad. Learning from mistakes and tragedy. Growing form our experiences and loss. It's all part of life, no matter how much we may dislike it." He lowered his eyes back to the orange male beside him, leaning slightly towards him to touch his shoulder to Manda's, trying to be of some comfort, even if he was not use to such situations. "I cannot say I have suffered a loss like that... not in this life, at least. I am sorry you had to go through that. I am sorry your friend had to experience that. But I doubt the little one, wherever she may be now, would want you to keep her loss in your mind. I am sure she is happy and healthy in whatever life she lives now. She was just not ready to enter this world in that life."

He didn't mind the other talking about such things. True, most would see them as mood killers. But Lucas liked to listen, to anything others had to say. It was how you learnt about how others were. Why they did or said certain things, and how they reacted to the situations they were put into. He didn't mind at all. He was an observers and a listener, and he would rather someone tell him all they needed to get out of their heads, then dwell on it over and over.

His ears pricked at the question, a gentle chuckle leaving his lips.
"I do. Though I do not believe we are of blood relation. But that does not matter. I have a younger sister, Merida --- a rather loud, active thing... even with how small she is --- and a brother, Chester. They are... a rather interesting one. Always curious, always grinning. They do love to play tricks now and then." His eyes glanced up as one of the flickering lights on the other's tines disappeared, before looking back down at the other's face. He didn't know what that meant to the orange stag, but he could feel the air prickling with energy, and with those clouds overhead... the forest was going to filled with freezing water soon enough.

The understanding of Lucas really made the orange stag question his own views. How many times had been beaten and rejected by others for who he was? This was indeed so rare, that the stag couldn't do anything else for a while but just stare at his companion with widened eyes, deep respect reflecting in his eyes. He tensed a little when he felt the touch on his shoulder as he wasn't used to being touched by strangers, but he didn't feel scared. This one could be trusted.

"Thank you." He whispered silently, unsure whether the other stag had heard him or not. He couldn't fully express his gratitude, but secretly he hoped that Lucas had heard his whispering. Even though he wanted to shout it out at him for being so kind, it was sometimes so hard to simply say 'thank you' from your heart. "Hmm. You're right, the fawn went into a better place, but while she didn't have to suffer, the mother hardly had the strength to go on with her life. Now she is old and wrinkled, I fear that might have been her last chance to have a baby of her own. I hope she can find some comfort in these kinds of thoughts, though. " He watched calmly as one of the birds flew by, most likely starting their long journey to the south. It appeared as though it was desperately chasing the warm air, flying after it like chasing an old friend.

He laughed alongside the stag as he mentioned his family, his melancholy mood lightening quite a bit. He enjoyed it so much when he heard others discuss about something important to them. The calm, yet happy look that that made Lucas's face shine like the sun made the orange stag just smile along the whole time. " They all sound like fine deer, even Chester. People will need some cheering in the winter, and their pranks may be just what we need to enjoy ourselves even in winter. " He giggled to himself, imagining a deer with a huge grin scaring him half to death when he least expected it. " Have you already prepared for winter? Judging by the air, it's going to be a cold one. Are you going to spend it with your family or do you prefer to be a alone?" He asked his questions, curious like a little fawn.

As the cool chilling winds cared the quiets sounds of the stags chatting and shuffles, a young fawn could hear there voices. Smiling with a childlike happiness, jumping stone to stone - only small lengths apart- it gave the young fawn a bit of pride and made his heart race with just a tad excitement. His thoughts only lie on how much power he had to put on the next jump - the wind ruffling his tan and brown fur. Wondering what had stirred the twin gods to cause winter’s hoofs too arrive sooner then expected.

Yet as the day grew old, his curiosity grew larger wanting to hear exactly what the stags where talking about. There clam voices where the first he had heard in a long time - every deer in the forest ,it seemed, was on edge ,excited and he had been mistaken for an adult man times - though every time they saw him they would stop there fevered efforts. This thing the other deers had called “the rut” had made every one jumpy. He missed with a desperate woe his first nights in the forest, when all was quite and soft. Everyone seemed much easy to approach and kinder - regretting not talking to other deer, his caution stopping his efforts at the time. Know he had been in the forest for a few months and had yet to talk to anyone. Sometimes he would just talk to the flowers or trees, just to hear what his voice sounded like.

For some reason, Mystic felt like these two where the right dear to talk to. So with this thought, he silently jumped down off the stone - wanting to calmly walk up close to them before introducing him self. Now on ground level his feet met grass as he slowly walked closer to the voices. Unable to see all of them at this level - he could make out that there was a orange stag and a multi-colored stag. Candles flickered on top of the orange deer’s antlers, setting the fawns nervous at ease a little bit, the warm lights making him smile. His ears alert as he listened and approached close to the high stone they where sitting on. “..prefer to be a alone?” Hearing the last bit of the orange stag’s question. Talking a breath he looked up at the two- thinking {better know then later} - hoping they could see a little bit of him so as not to surprise them. “H-hello?” Stuttering on his voice a little - seeming as if he had never heard of it before.

It doesn't matter if you're

It doesn't matter if you're rusty, I'm not the best myself as I haven't been doing this thing for years x'D. And I think your writing is very good!

Before the multicolored stag could answer his questions, Manda heard a distant sound coming from from ahead. It was the sound of trotters hitting the ground in a rather clumsy fashion. His sharp ears spotted the little creature long before the fawn appeared in sight - the little buckling had yet to learn to hide his presence well. Still, the orange stag was surprised he hadn't heard a loud moo descending from the young one's lips. It worried him a little - this fawn was somehow..different. He wasn't as ready to express his joy to the world than the fawns Manda met every day in the Forest. The air brought somewhat a lonely scent into his nostrils.

The orange stag stood up as he noticed the fawn approach them. He was only barely visible, but Manda could make out a brown dotted pelt and green, curious eyes looking at them. The light of his candles seemed to calm the buckling down a little, but his voice was nervous and silent, maybe even a tad bit hoarse. It seemed as though this youngster didn't talk much. But the orange stag wasn't the one to judge others by their appearance, and he smiled gently, asking: " Hello there, little one. Do you want to come and sit with us?

Manda was not the only one to

Manda was not the only one to notice the approach of the younger cervine, Lucas have kept himself quiet at the clatter of small hooves on stone. It was probably not a good idea to try and continue talking when they could of had a visitor at any second. Repeating things to many times could become tiresome, even for a patient mind as himself. So he waited, watching the orange stag lift himself up to get a better look at the approaching fawn, who had soon clambered up onto the rock with them. He was on the same page as the other grown deer, that it was a little peculiar that the young one wasn't calling for his mother or anything. But if the little thing wasn't a boisterous thing, then expecting him to be like most of the other younger deer in the forest was not good for him

The quiet greeting that followed the arrival of the young hart, only cemented in the piebald's mind, that maybe this one wasn't as extroverted as the others. Nothing wrong with that. He had been rather the same as a fawn, from what he could remember. He was still rather like that to this day.

The invitation made him smile gently, looking around Manda's legs.
"I do hope us old blokes talkin' ain't gonna put ya off joining us."

As the multicolored stag

As the multicolored stag stood up at the young lad’s arrival- Mystic backed up afraid for a moment that the large deer would charge at him, but was settled down by his kind face - and relaxed once more. A large smile appeared on the fawns young face and nodded happily talking as he scrambled up the rock the two were on “I-I’d love to! “ Surprised at his over expressed enthusasium as he finally got up onto the rock - able to fully get a look at the two.

The orange stag wasn’t really all that orange, he just look like he had a orange pelt from afar. Hues of brown and tan that blended together beautifully showing his true colors. His hoofs a dark brown gaining lightness as your traveled up along his body. Upon his head was a skull that covered mostly his entire face - and would have be a scary face if not for the lulling lights that sat upon his large, majestic antlers - as if this was a spirit of kindness was upon him. It made him think of death and how even the saddest things in life have there benefactors. It also made him feel happy - the lights creating deep shadows on the deer's skull. The smell of mint and grass after a rain filled his nostrils - causing him much delight.

Another smell entered his nose - one of wildflowers and a much deserved rain - causing him to inspect the other deer that lay on the ground, behind the first one. If anything this stag's fur was much more apparent then the other male's. White fur ran along the male's spine stopping at his tail - on top of his ears ,along his face, on his dark brown hoofs, and spotted randomly on his body - stopping the soft brown to cover the rest of his pelt. The only color was a dark brown that ran along his neck - know looking upon his face. Blond locks covered his head and hid some of his deep, forest green eyes. A smile on his older lips - Mystic noticed that he had a alligator skull beside him - and knew he wore it most of the time.

As he had gazed at the two for quite some time he realized - he was looking at them without even introducing him self. Feeling stupid, he blushed and said with a apologetic voice "I-I'm Mystic, sorry for intruding on your conversation.." Sitting down where his small frame touched both of there's - there body heat warming him up quickly. "Thank you for inviting me - I-I've actually never talked to anyone before." He confessed - his ears turning downward in embarrassment - not feeling like he had to hide anything. What was there to hide?

The orange stag noticed the

The orange stag noticed the young one's excitement as he hopped closer, looking at the older stags with green, wide eyes that were illuminated by his candles. The fawn's coloring was interesting to say the least - in fact, Manda remembered never having seen one of those before. The black spots on the buckling's fur were intriguing, and it made the stag wonder what kinds of beings his parents were. He wasn't the one to judge by appearance though, and he did find the green eyes beautiful. This fawn still had the innocence in him that the elders lacked, and Manda immediately felt an instinct flowing through his body. He had been the adoptive father of many fawns in the past, and meeting a new one that aroused his interest always made that same reaction happen.

He watched calmly as the fawn stared at them with the wonder of childhood, taking in everything he saw and measuring them in his head. Manda wondered what the young buckling was thinking about as he moved his gaze to Lucas. There was a certain wisdom in his eyes, though. One that couldn't be taught by anyone, but one that had been with the fawn since birth.

Soon the little deerling introduced himself, sounding unsure but at the same time, interested to talk with them. Manda really appreciated the fawn's honesty and the fact that he was very open right from the start. Childlike innocence, but the fawn was still right to be a little wary in the beginning. These times you could never know who'd be friendly.

The orange stag smiled with delight as Mystic lay down beside them, clearly enjoying their body heat. Manda tried to position himself better, so he could protect the young one from wind with his thick layer of fur. He put his head down a little to offer some warmth from the candles - they never burned anyone unless their bearer wanted them to. Manda gave Lucas an apologetic look, telling with his eyes that they'd have to stop their conversation for a minute to offer the fawn some company. He hoped that the multicolored stag wasn't getting tired of his company as Manda was hard to get along with, but gladly Lucas hadn't yet shown any signs of leaving. The fawn's next words worried him a little - could this really be the first time the young one talked to someone? The orange stag had an urge to cuddle the fawn with his fur, but feared that might have scared the little one away. Trying not to sound too intimidating, the orange stag said politely:
"It's nice to meet you, Mystic. You have a beautiful name. Others call me Manda, and my friend here is Lucas. " He gave Mystic a sad look before continuing : "Are you alone? Where are your parents?"

Mystic felt something change

Mystic felt something change in the older deer’s demander - as he had felt the need to keep the him safe and warm. Mystic smiled at this happy conclusion, to have some warmth that came from others even for just a little while, he was grateful for - for the warmth from the sun was a lonely one at times and only welcomed him in the day. As the orange stag, the one named Manda, introduced himself and the other - he turn his head to nod at this deer called Lucas, not wanting to interrupt Manda's welcoming. As a sad, sorrow look came upon Manda’s face, Mystic was surprised by the question that followed.

Mystic looked at Manda with acceptance in his features, a optimistic tone in his voice as he answered. “Well - I’m not sure to be honest. I remember waking up in the forest with basic knowledge of my surroundings and my name. But I don’t remember anything else, and have been making memories since. I had no mother or father so I have been alone in a sense. Though I don’t think where ever alone, it just appears to feel that way. “ His voice young sounding, yet had pleasant earthy tones that would become more dominate when he grew older. Blinking as he exchanged glances with the two adults - he knew that the twin gods watched and kept safe there creatures and had faith in them. His young heart happy to finally talk to others and other that seemed to be nice and kind ones at that.

His smile only widened a

His smile only widened a little when the young one moved to get up on the rock properly, standing before them now, and allowing Lucas to get a better look at him. He looked like most of the younger deer in the forest did, brown like the earth beneath their feet, and spotted to break up the silhouette. Of course, the black spots that slowed over certain areas were an interesting addition. But they suited the fawn well and Lucas couldn't help the mental nod of approval. Hopefully, those markings would carry on into the younger's adult pelt coloration. They would certainly be nice and subtle, but give him an interesting distinction to many of the other inhabitants of the forest.

He shifted, to sit up a little straighter, as the younger deer joined them, glad to share some more body hat in this cool wind that had descended on the forest. The more bodies, the more heat, so the piebald wasn't complaining. In fact, if it was cold, it was rather easy to find the stag, because he'd be usually curled up against someone he knew, trying to stay a little warmer then what he could muster up himself.

He stayed silent, merely listening to the two talk for now, nodding his head in return to the fawn as Manda introduced him, before he turned all his attention to Mystic, listening intently. Ah. A lot of deer seemed to find themselves here without many memories of anything. And then there were quite a number who had so many memories that they could easily recall at will. It was interesting, the different conditions of the forest's inhabitants. Made him all the more curious with just what this forest and the Gods could do.

"You sound very wise for your age. Although, I'm sure we all know that smarts do not necessarily depend on how old you are or your experiences. Even some spirits who are well traveled do not know many things."

"Well, thank you. I've had a

"Well, thank you. I've had a couple of months by myself to think on things - you see you two are the first beings I have talked to since my first days in the forest." Smiling, not acting like it was a bad thing. He truly didn't know what he was missing - besides a little loneliness sometimes and feeling cold at night - he had never noticed the absences of his family, if they even existed. There shared body heat quickly making him feel comfortable and safe. Adding with a small laugh "Well besides the flowers and tress."

Wondering what kind of families the other deer had - sisters? brother? mother? fathers? Was it normal in the forest to not have a family? Curious as ever - know that even more questions then usual erupted from his young mind.

The orange stag listened to

The orange stag listened to Lucas's words and noticed how eager the fawn was to answer - but also how excited he was to ask questions for himself. It was strange though, that the fawn had no memories of his possible parents. But Manda didn't doubt the youngster's words - he himself had only memories of his father and and his cousin. The Forest was full of extraordinary beings who possessed strange powers and they had no idea where they came from either. Manda was very grateful that he had been blessed with memories of his childhood family, as those memories brought him some comfort during the loneliest days. However, as for right now, Manda was overjoyed to enjoy the company of these deer and he didn't feel the least bit lonely.

He was happy that the fawn didn't mind his protective nature, and he touched the fawn's cheek gently with his mask. He hoped that he could show Mystic what he was missing, and that he didn't have to take his distance from others. Preferring loneliness over company was not a bad thing, but Manda wanted to offer the fawn a chance for something else - when Mystic had experienced all the options he had before him, he could decide for himself what path he wanted to take in life. As for now, the orange stag wanted to keep him safe. Come winter or come enemies, Manda was always ready to take the challenge if it meant protecting another being.

The fawn was wise for his age, but not mature enough yet to live on his own. The childlike innocence that reflected in the fawn's eyes was proof of that. He knew a lot about his surroundings and the life cycle of beings, but he still lacked information of what love and the affection of others felt like. The orange stag nodded in Lucas's direction with a smile. The elders would have a lot to tell for the fawn.

"You're not the only one in this forest to live without the warmth that a family can bring, and if someone bothers you about it in the future, it's nothing to apologise for. If trees and flowers are your best friends, let them." He smiled at the thought, wondering if the fawn heard the voices of the trees inside his head. Manda was glad that Mystic was opening up a little to them, his voice not as shaky as a moment ago when he had first made his presence known. However, the fawn was still holding back his excitement, looking up to the older stags with wide green eyes as if hungry for answers. Manda laughed as he saw the fawn's eagerness, and said calmly :
"If you want to ask something from us, go ahead! We're all yours."

"Time alone certainly allows

"Time alone certainly allows one to think about things a lot more then if they were surrounded by others. It's nice sometimes, helps you work some things out." But it could also be somewhat of a problem. One could start to over things and make problems in their mind that were easily avoidable, but seemed like the end of the world if thought about too much. But keeping your mind working was a good way to get such thoughts out of your head, so the questions that both of the older deer, could see behind the fawn's eyes, were a good defense against that.

He was silent again as Manda spoke, nodding his head in agreement. Yes, there was no reason to be sorry about the fact that there was no blood relations that you knew of. Many of the families in this forest were made up of deer that were in no way related. Most deer did not know their relatives, unless they happened to be born amongst them in the forest.

"We're happy to answer anythin' you wish to know Mystic. And if you ever need company, I am sure the both of us are happy to have you around. I think my siblings may like you." He chuckled softly, ears flicking around gently, the forest rather quiet now, compared to before when the clashing antlers were still echoing through the trees.

Mystic's smile widen at the

Mystic's smile widen at the deer's encouraging deer words as he mulled it over what question to ask first. "So... Are you two friends or together? What are you families like?" He had many other questions, like what love truly felt like, how children are born, and many other things. Mystic just wanted to wait for there explanation. Mystic also had question's about him self such as what kind of deer he liked, what he was, could he perform magic, because he knew nothing of his origin.

Mystic knew he was different. Whenever he was around people he could sense if they where different or not - like what kind of emotion they put off. It was one of the main things that attracting the young fawn to the two deer before him. They seemed to put off as soft, welcoming, and exception aurua that he felt complied to meet them.

The orange stag smiled at the

The orange stag smiled at the fawn's excitement while trying to shield him properly from the chilly wind. Those big green eyes that stared at the elders with deep focus just made the orange stag want to tell everything there was to know about this world. But he knew that not all things were suitable for the sensitive ears and heart of a child, so he closed his eyes for a moment, thinking what to say about his family. He chuckled happily as the fawn asked his questions without stuttering too much this time. It would make opening up easier for the older stags as well.

"Well, in fact Lucas and I just met for the second time today. I would say we're friends, though. " He looked at the multicolored stag with a wide grin, but tried not to scare the child. "As for my family, I know almost as little as you do. I only have memories of my father. He is not in this forest, but he leads a herd of deer in the north. I have a cousin that I know of in this forest, though. Her name is Nefret, and she is one of the biggest divas you can come across. " He laughed at this point, remembering her displeased face when they had last met. When he calmed down, he added : " I do love her dearly, though. "

The stag moved his gaze towards a little group of deer who played together in the birches, not seeming to care much for the change in the air. They chased each other, their sweet laughter echoing through the trees. It made Manda's troubled mind calm down a bit, and he changed his position to fully enjoy the warmth that the others gave him. " I would say that friends are a part of your family as well. Even if you are not related in blood, your souls are forever bonded with each other. Wouldn't you consider the nature itself as your family? " He asked the fawn, giving his ear a friendly lick.
"Nature takes care of us by giving us food and shelter in the rain or the snow. It gives us the Sun when we're cold, and cold water if we're hot. I never knew my mother, but I consider nature to be the mother that takes care of me with every coming season. It can't show you the affection of others, but as long as the gods take care of us through nature, you're never alone. "

The curiosity Mystic

The curiosity Mystic possessed, was certainly something he loved to see in anyone. It meant their wonder of the world was still in full swing and that they were still growing and learning from all their meetings and experiences. He always felt sad when he came across someone who had shut themselves off from the world and others. He wasn't the most social of deer, but his curiosity was still a big part of how he got around the forest and met others.

Manda's words had Lucas nod slightly, smiling back at him before looking down at the fawn, quiet as the orange stag continued to speak. He agreed with everything the other said, about nature being their indirect caregiver, watching over them with the help of the gods that had created such a wonderful place to live. And if you paid attention to the things around you, you could almost feel the love that was flowing through all things, even if it wasn't as direct as a nuzzle or a simple sound that would leave another.

"My parents, also, do not live in the forest. I haven't seen them in a good while. I left while I was a young hart, and met my brother and sister while traveling. We might not be blood related, but I don't care. I'd protect them with my life if it comes down to it. As for what they are like? Well, Meri is certainly a loud, active thing. She's always up for a good game of chase. As for Chester, they are more of a trickster. They certainly love dancing on the lilypads on the pond and spell spamming willing participants to their games."

Mystic listened intently

Mystic listened intently with wide ears as Manda and Lucas talked about their families, small but close it seemed, wanting to meet them. His caution from his first two months in the forest worn away by the curiosity and want to talk to others. More question popped into his head as the they spoke like, what is a heard? And a diva? What’s the game spell spamming?

This didn’t bother the fawn, he knew that life was full of questions and some he’d never find the answer. He hoped with a bright optimistic out look on life, that most children had, that he would find his family one day. Maybe he had already found a part of it - looking at the too older deers. Taking in Manda’s words like a sponge - surprised by his friendly lick - smiling brightly at the affectionate action.

Mystic knew much about Nature’s kindness, having been his only companion before he talked two the two stags, it had kept him warm and hid it from the harsh rain. Licking him on the cheek with the same friendliness - saying with a smile “What is a heard? Do you guys have anything that you like to do?” Thinking back to his hobby of finding neat thing and keeping them decorating his home with them.

The orange stag was amused as

The orange stag was amused as he seemed to confuse the buckling with his words. It was okay, though. There were things the fawn would have to learn for his own, things that the adults couldn't teach no matter how they wanted to. There existing so many ways to look at this Forest that was endless, even the gods had difficulties judging what was right and what was wrong. The orange stag only hoped this fawn would be wise enough to know the difference inside him.

He listened as Lucas spoke of his family with a comforting smile on his face. Heh, the multicolored stag's love for even the black sheep in his family was obvious, and it was something the orange stag appreciated greatly. It was rare these days, when all that seemed to matter is how attracting you look to another being or what status you have.

The stag smiled upon being licked, and a tiny flame was lighted in his heart, hot enough to resist some of the cold that the winds carried with them. He had never met a young fawn so willing to be so close to Manda without being scared. His heart was jumping with joy as he looked into the fawn's green eyes. It made him wonder how it would be like to have a fawn of his own. He was getting too old for the younger does growing up this winter, but all the older ones seemed to have a mate already. His dream would never come true. He made a tiny frown, looking at his hooves with silence for a minute. He didn't want to get too emotional with these deer even if he felt safe around them.

As the fawn asked his question, the orange stag was glad to have his attention focused on something else. As he searched through his mind for the words and memories of his old home, he soon answered : "A herd is a big group of deer, Mystic. It is lead by a mighty stag who is strong enough to protect many lives beside his own. Especially when most of the herd's members are does with their young, a lot depends on the stag's physical and mental strength. He needs to protect the group from predators and possible rivals to keep his lineage strong. " He made his answer specific on purpose, as he wanted to test how much information this fawn could let sink in in one stand. The buckling seemed smart.

For the next question, the orange stag took a minute to think and said : "Long ago, I used to be quite the fighter. I would roam the land in search of possible challengers and aim to be the strongest. " His smile died quickly. "It - it didn't end well, though. " He wanted to shake his nasty memories from his brain quickly, so he turned his attention to this day and this moment. "More than anything, I love playing with newborn fawns in spring as well as mixing different herbs together too see how they taste - and what they do to you."
He moved his gaze to the fawn again with curious eyes, asking quietly : "And what do you like to do, Mystic?"

Mystic was not afraid of

Mystic was not afraid of making close ties with people, having not known the sorrow of loss. Mystic wanted to make a bond with someone, a bond that meant he could call that person family. Knowing it took time, he was patient and he felt a kindle sprit in Manda. No one had ever extended friendship or kindness like the stag had, and the only other person who seemed to want to be his friend was the other stag that sat beside him.

Smiling wide at Manda hoping to tell him in this action, Will you be my friend?
Hoping he would understand that he meet more than friend - he meet family. This was just the foundation -hopefully- for a strong and hearty bridge they would build. Then he noticed a frown on his face as he seemed to be in thought, looking down at his own hooves. Moving closer to him to comfort him, also moving closer to the other stag in this action since they all sat pretty close. Not minding - hopping Lucas didn’t either.

As Manda took a moment to answer, Mystic took a moment to think on this herd matter. Mystic could never picture himself in such a thing. It seemed very mate based - as if the only purpose was to bread with as many doe’s as possible. He believed in the one and only, that there was one person out there for you. Not labeling it as something bad - he’d just have to see it for him self.

Tilting his head as Manda explained he was once a fighter, the fawn imaging the orange stag much more fierce and combat, thinking that it didn’t suit the calm stag. Smiling able to picture the stag with fawns all around him much easier. Wondering what taste and reminds the stag created as he asked him a question. “Oh, well I like to collect things.” Smiling happily. “I have a few feathers, lots of flowers and a mushroom.” Proud of his small possessions.

((Deciding to hop onto this

((Deciding to hop onto this bandwagon. Here's to my first rp! I don't actually have a written-out bio for my character yet, I hope that's ok!))

Huff.

Hufffff.

The small fawn trotting through the forest was too distracted to feel any cold, or to see where she was going. She had been running quite a while, so she was feeling pretty warm, and now that she had slowed down to a calmer pace she stared fascinated at the clouds of breath coming from her lips. She giggled to herself, then blew through her nostrils as hard as she could.

SNORT.

She coughed and sputtered a little, oh twin gods why did she do that. She tried to wipe off her nose with her legs, rubbing the mint green fur over her face, that slowly went over into white, and then on to a soft yellow color of her hooves. She sniffed a couple of times, before looking around.
Where -was- she, actually? She hadn't been in this forest very long, she knew that for sure. She also knew that she didn't know much. Well, of how she got here, for once, or where she came from at all. She'd seen a few stags around, some wild deer. She was pretty sure she'd seen something huge moving through the treeline in the distance a few days ago as well, still not sure what that was... Too many questions, and far too-

Cold! She shivered, pressing against the nearest tree. Breathing out her precious warm air, that was an even more stupid thing to do. Good going. She continued to peer between the treeline, in search of something familiar, or unfamiliar, in any case something else than more trees!... Like light.

She blinked against the cold breeze, staring at the wavering specks of light, most likely fire. She stepped from hoof to hoof, pondered some more, and then set off against the tree to circle the source.

She lowered herself as much as she could, basically almost -crawling- her way over the piece where the two stags and fawn were resting against the cold air. She peeked over the ridge to see the candles in the antlers of the orange stag, her buttercup eyes growing in amazement. Then she got a very devilish, playful look in them, took a deep breath, and attempted to blow one of them out from her crouched position on the ledge above them.

The curiosity of the fawn was

The curiosity of the fawn was just wonderful, and Lucas still couldn't help the smile on his face because of it. It just made Mystic all the more adorable, and he could tell that the young hart was going to be one to make good decisions when he grew. True, there might be times where he would pick the wrong path, in the eyes of others, and if he realized that it wasn't truly what he wanted, he would learn from his mistake, grow, and know not to make the same choice if the opportunity ever rose again. That was what the piebald loved about still growing minds and hearts. They could be shaped by anything, and others could influence, but could never have actual control over the outcome of the individual.

He was silent as Manda explained what the young stag had asked of them, nodding silently as he moved his head to look out between the trees once more. The cold was still moving between the trunks, but sitting beside the orange stag and the fawn, seemed to almost give a barrier of warmth against the cold fingers against his side facing away from them. It had always been like that. As long as he was with others that had could bond with, or was close to already, he could feel an energy almost driving the cold away.

He glanced back as the other male asked their little visitor what he liked to do, interested in what the younger deer would say. It was always nice, hearing others talk about things that they loved to do and what intrigued them. Lucas loved seeing just how much of a shine others got to their expressions when they started talking about their hobbies and likes. Just how they got lost in talking about it. He wasn't one to complain about it either. Even if he didn't know exactly what they were talking about, it saved him from having to talk too much, which worked in his favor, and it worked in their favor too, since they were talking about something they loved.

"They sound like wonderful items. If you ever need any help getting anything for yer collection, I would love to help. I'm happy to dive down to the bottom of the pond and find a water polished stone for you or anythin' like that." After all, Lucas loved to swim, so he wasn't fazed about being asked to swim down to get something for someone. Though, it was getting colder. They might have to wait for when the weather warmed up again.

He felt silent at a sound behind them, ear flicking back, but not yet turning his head, a low rumbling sound rolling up from his chest.

OOC: Just fine, Zuzu! ( Can I call you that Owo.) We know how your fawn looks like and we're going to find out more about her in a moment anyway. *excited*
_______________________________________

The orange stag noticed something about Mystic - a deep desire for something the fawn had never experienced. The smile that now adorned the buckling's face was strange. It wasn't a normal smile, the stag was good at interpreting facial expressions. It was the expression of someone who was hungry for an answer - an answer that the fawn was too afraid to ask. He didn't understand, but he was very intent to find out what the fawn wanted as soon as possible. The orange stag smiled at the youngster as he moved closer, apparently noticing the stag's mood. Manda was incredibly grateful, and tried to make Mystic more comfortable by shielding him from the wind. Ouch, this breeze was cold, but as long as the fawn was safe.... He'd do anything.

He watched with joy as the fawn's face lighted up upon telling of his hobby of collecting things. "Ooh, I love that! I used to do the same as a young lad. I collected all kinds of different berries. Have you ever found anything exotic, Mystic?" He asked, suddenly feeling nostalgic. As he listened to Lucas's answer, he wondered what to say next. The orange stag had noticed the confusionon the fawn's as he told of his past as a fighter. He hoped he hadn't scared anyone. He had been extremely violent once and was ashamed of it, but he didn't want to lie to Mystic nor Lucas - both seemed patient and wise. He just didn't know how forgiving they'd be if he told the truth. He opened his mouth as to speak, but distant noises from the Forest behind of them interrupted him. His sharp hearing picked up the sound of someone crawling, and instantly all his muscles tensed. Was it a predator? He tried to listen for possible growling sounds.

As he felt a blow on his back, the orange stag jumped up in shock, almost falling on top of Lucas. Only working on pure instinct, the stag stepped in front of Mystic, ready to protect the buckling if necessary. He was ready for anything. He scratched the ground with his forehooves, ready to lower his antlers and attack. His confusion was enormous as he didn't notice anything dangerous - just a small fawn. What.... He had no idea how to react at first. It didn't seem like this young doe was scared of them - quite the opposite. Even if the stag had a soft spot in his heart for fawns, he was wary and slightly annoyed. He really didn't like being approached from behind. It could have been dangerous for the fawn. Still shielding Mystic, the orange stag asked curiously : "....Who are you?" Despite giving the stranger a stern look to show that he didn't appreciate that, his mouth was carved into a smile. Playing around was normal for a young fawn, and he couldn't stay angry for more than five seconds anyway.

The fawn pressed herself against the cold ground when the candle-antlered stag jumped, flatting her ears onto her head with a short but audible "Eek!". Her voice was jumpy, and she tried to keep her jaws pressed onto each other to keep them from clattering because of the cold. She sat and listened to his question, a very simple question, ears popping up as she canted her head.
"... Well yeah I guess formal introductions are important... though I really wonder how those candles are even burning in the first place but oh well Hiiii!~" She smiled wide, crossing her front legs over eachother. "I'm Tia!"

She gazed from buck to buck, eyeing their antlers with a pinch of jealousy. "You all have really nice antlers, you know? Gosh I wish I had a pair..." The random thought distracted her again, staring off dreamily, before a strong gush of wind woke her from the daydream. "Brrrrr its cold, way too cold! Hey, mind if I scootch into your cozy looking party? I rather don't want to be turned into a fawnsicle." She asked, teeth clattering.

She then noticed the other fawn in their company, and leaned in closer, her gaze growing with curiosity. "Oh gosh! Another fawn! Like me! We could be friends!" She spoke jolly.

Sorry guys got grounded for a couple days - but I'm back! Welcome Zuzu! I hope you have fun ^^

==============================================================

Mystic felt warm and safe with the two stags around him. It wasn’t just due to the fact that he was nestled almost perfectly between the two large deer know, his rump the only thing left bare to the winds. No, Mystic felt this mental warmth and cherishment as well as the physical heat. It seemed to protect the deer as they shared there stories with each other, driving the cold away from there spot of merriment. Relaxing even more if possible, a large grin upon his face, joy filled his features.

“You’d really do that?” Surprised by Lucas offer to get him a smoothed stone from the murky pond, his eyes filled with awe. “I would love it if it wasn’t to much of a bother.’ Turning back to Manda as he spoke inturn and smiled at him as well, answering with a nod “I have two feathers, there my most exotic so far. One‘s a pure shade of ebony while the other mixes and blends with browns, tans, and reds.”

Suddenly, there merriments had stopped as they all heard something in the distance and Mystic strained his ears to listen. Surprised by Manda’s sudden jump, backing up into Lucas a little flipping his ears down in embarrassment. Shocked, to see a fawn like him with a soft green pelt, almost unnoticeable - then she came up scrapping up the rock. As she noticed him, he chuckled to himself - his embarrassment gone. Moving back a little so that he was taking more of the wind - letting the fawn have some room for more warmth since she was the coldest at the moment.

”Well, we certainly can be friends! I am Mystic, Tai. These stags around me is Manda, the one standing above me and Lucas ,the other one beside me. There both are kind gentleman so I am sure they don’t mind your companion. “ A warm smile on his face as he welcomed her.

The stag stepped out of the

The stag stepped out of the way as Mystic spoke to Tia, now convinced that the newcomer meant no harm. He'd let the two fawns get properly acquainted, maybe they'd be friends rather quickly. He was still wary as he was bitter over being approached from behind, so he stepped a little farther from the group, glaring at the newcomer. He'd see how the situation progressed first. He looked at Lucas to see how he would react to to Tia, trusting the multicolored stag's wiseness.

He was slightly taken back as Mystic introduced him to this new fawn so eagerly, letting out a silent grunt. He didn't want strangers to know his name just like that, he wanted to know about them first before speaking for himself. There were now many deer here, it had become 1 to 4 in a matter of minutes. The orange stag didn't like crowds, so he felt like he needed to step farther from them. His smile was now gone, but he kept a curious look, watching how the new fawn would react. "Hello there, Tia. I'm sure these two wouldn't mind you sitting here. We all need to share some warmth with the air changing like this." He didn't smile, but his eyes were kind as he spoke, not wanting to chase the newcomer away. He gave a glance at his antlers, where the candles still swayed in the wind, resisting to be blown out. "This is not ordinary fire, you know. It's a gift from the gods. It's a matter best not spoken about, though. There are those things in this world that will never have an explanation, unless you make up some theory of your own." He grinned, but kept his muscles tense. He felt like sweating with all these deer there watching him. Too tense to move back to them but too curious to run away, he was stuck in place.

Out of the corner of his deep

Out of the corner of his deep green eyes , Mystic saw Manda step back a little as if he was wary of her. Come to think of it, it was very unwise of her to advance at such a angle, especially at this time of year. Yet she was a young fawn, who had nothing in mind besides fun and dreams. Most worries such as these had never been shaped in the mind of most fawns, only learning by experience. Tensing up, this movement slight yet noticeable to those that where watching.

Mystic felt distressed as he thought that maybe the stag might flee or sneak away quietly, his ears flipping down though he tired to stay positive in front of the cute fawn. At least on the outside. He wanted to talk to Manda more, and if that meant tracking his scent down - then so be it. Yet he didn’t want one of his newest friends leaving so soon, glancing at Lucas for a moment from the corner of his eye, afraid he would leave as well.

He may seem cool and calm in front of the two stags, yet he was quite nervous in front of people by himself. His ears moving slightly to hear Manda better as he mentioned “the gods”. Mystic believed in the Twin Gods and was very religious when it came to most decision - he tried to be the best deer he could be. Holding his tongue and his questions so that other’s could talk, taking noticed that this may not be the time to talk on some things.

"Course I would. It's not a bother to me. I love ta swim, so it's somethin' I could easily do. In fact. I could always teach you how to swim if you so wanted?" His voice was soft, one ears turned back towards their new visitor as the rumble continued.

The sound from his chest was a gentle warning to whoever it was that had the audacity to sneak up behind them like that. Now, he'd never been all that jumpy when others had come up behind him, mostly because he was confident enough to trust that he could turn the situation in his favor. But even then, he was cautious. Even if this forest was a sanctuary for its inhabitants, there were some here that could easily use their strength and powers to overcome someone else.

The sight of the young fawn had the piebald stag shift himself over so he could turn his head without much strain on his neck. Well, that was always another thing that could easily sneak up on you at times. He didn't know how many times he'd been relaxing, only to have open his eyes to find large curious eyes watching him where he lay. Then again, as many deer as there was here, and as many colors they came in, he'd never met another deer like himself, so he was not all that surprised when the younger ones asked about it. Though, it seemed this little doe's pelt was a soft green color. Not as bright and bold as the first blades in the spring, but not dull enough to be the last blade either.

The young doe's mention of their antlers had Lucas glance up to the tines he could see jutting out from above his forehead, before a gentle chuckle replaced the curious rumbling. "My antlers will be gone soon. I do not need them for the winter and they will drop off, only to regrow for next seasons. But, I am sure you will have your own someday." He smiled at her, though had noticed Manda's hesitance. He had a feeling the other stag didn't like the fact the fawn had came up behind him, which was understandable. Too many things used that trick to get a better shot at a successful kill. So it was only natural to be wary.

"You are welcome to lay yourself next to me and keep warm, sheila. I can't brag about being the best heater. But I'll try my best."
He glanced towards Manda again, meeting his gaze for a moment, hoping the other would get the silent look in his eyes.

'You do not have to stay if you do not wish to.'

Tia listened to the many

Tia listened to the many words and phrases, her head turning from the one to the next. She made a small hop off the ledge to sit down between Lucas and Mystic, brushing her cold fur against theirs. "Fantastic! Being friends is great! Well, I hope it will be. I've never made friends before, I guess that makes you my first friend ever!" She spoke enthusiastically. She had little recollection of anything that has happened before, she merely remembered waking up in the cold. Not that she was too worried about that. She was a bit warmer and in much better company.

She tilted her head at hearing the names. "Oh those are some great names, I'll be sure to remember them!" She gazed at Lucas' and Manda's antlers again. "They fall off? But they're so prettyyy.... You mean -the- Gods? I didn't even know gods came to the forest to light candles. I know about the stars and the moon, and the big warm sun, but candles?" She seemed even more curious than before.

Now she noticed how Manda was distancing himself from them, and her ears flipped down. At hearing Lucas' words. "Oh please don't leave! I'm sorry I startled you, I was just wondering if those candles could go out! Pleeeease, oh please please please!" She hung her head low, putting up a puppy face.

The orange smiled at Lucas as

The orange smiled at Lucas as he noticed the look in the multicolored stag's eyes - he was so understanding it made the wanderer warm just thinking about it. He nodded slightly to show his deep appreciation, and stood up as if ready to take off. He would be perfectly happy with Lucas watching over the two, and more than anything, he wanted Mystic and Tia to be friends. Tia was like an answer from the Gods; just as they'd talked with Mystic what it's like to have family and friends, the green, bubbly fawn had appeared behind them like a ghost.

The fawns seemed very eager to get acquainted, and it made the orange stag smile. He felt like this was a miracle. You could rarely see anything like this when it wasn't spring. It was his favorite part of everything that happened in this Forest. With these thoughts, he was very surprised as the little doe seemed upset about him leaving. It made him feel wanted - something he felt quite rarely. As the fawn apologised, the orange stag relaxed quite a bit, but didn't sit back down. He was still wary about all these people around him, expecting him to talk about something wise. He felt a little ill as he took a deep breath to calm himself down, and answered the fawn: "Heh, my antlers don't fall off. I've had these babies ever since I was a dumb teen. " He laughed a little as he showed off his large antlers, but knew very well he sounded quite awkward. He wasn't used to boasting, and it made him think about the past too much. "Between you and me, I think the candles are what keep them alive and well, unable to break or fall. " He was very unwilling to tell how he got them in the first place, but would think again after hearing both the fawns' thoughts. He trusted Lucas would take it well, being as wise as he was, but he was afraid about the young deer, whom he didn't want to scare.

"You're forgiven, Tia. I'm not angry at you, I was just scared. It could have been dangerous for us all." He finished as he looked at the stormy sky, now facing the wind without shelter. So many thoughts raced through his head, and he was unable to sit down. He'd have to wait a little while.

"They do. But they will grow

"They do. But they will grow back, probably somewhat bigger the next year. Although, I am sure they are probably at the their biggest. I am not the youngest of stags. But I'm not too old yet." He chuckled at her fascination with their antlers, not at all doubtful that she would end up with some of her own. Even the females, in this forest, sported antlers sometimes, no matter their breed. Hey, his brother Ches didn't even have antlers. Though, he was sure all of what would have made their antlers, had gone into those teeth and that tails they possessed.

He glanced back towards Manda as the stag steadied himself, still a little tense from the sudden appearance of Tia it seemed. Although, Lucas couldn't blame him. The piebald was a little fluffy still, from his fur bristling slightly at the same instance of the rumbling that he had sounded before. A simple warning to anyone listening that was not visible to the stag. He nodded to the orange male's words, before glancing back down to Mystic and Tia.

"Another lesson to take with you. If you do not want to find yourself in a situation, that could have easily been avoided, make sure you make your presence known to others. Ya never know who could be known for kicking out or attacking with their antlers when they get spooked. I've had that happen before. It's not a pleasant thing to be caught in." In fact, he had a few scars from that encounter. Mostly on his side and legs, where the larger deer had tossed him slightly in the air after catching him in their antlers. He'd been young and stupid at that age though, but he'd learnt quickly not to do that again.

Occ: I'm so sorry for the super late reply but I promise to either reply tomorrow morning or afternoon. I have been very busy with school and grades but I am better managed know and won't be this slow again! Promise.
