Comfort

Normally Toluse was fearless. If he came across something strange or unknown, he wouldn't get scared; he'd get curious and try to play with whatever it was. But now, he was scared. He had experienced rain before in the forest, but never before was it ever this heavy. He stood up in the field that he was fallen asleep in and looked around, ears tilted back. He couldn't figure out why the twin gods had made it rain this hard. Well, whatever the reason was, he was getting cold and wet, which were nice when separate, but unbearable when together. He shook the rain off of his coat and trotted to the pond. There he found several adult deer running around. He froze when he heard the hoot of an owl and looked around before approaching the stags. They seemed unphased by the heavy downpour, which confused him. He stood under the shelter of one of the willow trees before another owl swooped by. He then turned and ran for the giant tree. If there was any sort of decent shelter, it'd be there.

Toluse never did stop running until he came across the tree. He trotted inside without so much as a second thought, then froze. Normally when he came into the tree, there was a sense of peace in there. But now, there was some strange noise echoing about within the tree. He tucked his ears back and shook. This heavy rain must have had something to do with it! This strange and heavy rain. He was scared. But then he became aware of another being in the shelter. A stag. He had never seen him before in the forest and continued to shake, frightened by the whole mess. Then the stag stood and stepped up to him. He was certain that this stag might try to do something to frighten him more or laugh at him, but his fear was cut off when the stag nuzzled him. Toluse stood still for a moment, letting the kind gesture click in his mind. The stag laid down once more and Toluse, once again, felt the peace that the tree had to offer. Though the odd sound still rang, he wasn't scared anymore. He sat down beside the stag and remained there until he fell asleep once more.
