It's funny, really, the small things that people never seem to notice until they hover on the brink of death. Everything from rain showers to the fluttering of a butterfly's wing.
Which is just how Chopin had felt on his deathbed.

No, not the musician that was known all through the world for his wonderful music, though a composer just the same.

Nobody can really know the thoughts they will have while death takes them until it is far too late.

He was a small boy, still young, just seventeen but with enough wisdom that he supposed it was all fine, what was happening.

Soft dark blue hair, tipped in gold at the ends fell in choppy locks down to his cheeks, eyes the colour of a robin's throat gazing out the window with a look of disinterest, falling half closed gently as the pale moon crept into the sky.

His eyes flickered to the dusty violin sitting next to his bed, reaching out with the last of his strength to run his slender fingers over the strings, a soft musical thrum filling the empty hospital room.

His other hand rested gently upon his chest, pale skin against the pale nightgown.

"is life not but a song?" he breathed, pale lips turning up slightly in a soft smile.
"it begins at an Adagio, rises to its Crescendo, then comes to a Fine."

He allowed his eyes to fall all the more closed, a sliver of rust red colour showing beneath his long dark lashes, seeking out the stack of papers on the nightstand, reaching over to take them, glancing over the sheets swiftly.

"Every Sonata has an end" he mumbled, paper slipping from pale hands as his eyes slipped closed, mouth held in that same light smile.

A soft huff left him.
But no...
His eyes flashed open, blazing like a fire, no.
he was dead, this could not be.

Groggily he rose to his feet, tripping as he moved, something was wrong, where was the room...

The sound of water hit him, and he stumbled as he made his way through the trees, stopping at the edge of the cerulean pond, the soft sound of birds and frogs filling the air.

he leaned forward, a gasp leaving him and he tumbled back, landing upon his side.

'this is not real!'

he rose, dashing through the trees until his sides heaved and chest ached for breath, collapsing before a pair of bright statues.

He looked down, long legs covered in soft tan fur and ending in cloven onyx hooves greeting him.

A deer, no, no how could this. . .

"welcome"

Chopin jumped, skittering to his feet, ears swiveling.

certainly it hadn't been, the statues?

His robin-breast eyes slowly sought out the twin statues.

"We've been waiting for you Chopin"

"Oh yes, for a while now"

"We thought someone like you"

"Might enjoy a place like this"

The fawn stumbled again.

"What is this place? a dream, heaven?...hell?"

"you'll have to decide that for yourself"

The small animal shook on his legs.

"But I don't understand!"

"You will..."

"please come back!"

he waited, and waited. But the voices did not return.

He lay there for hours, rising when he heard a soft calling, and the sound of hooves.

He managing to teeter his way into the trees, just walking, not sure where he was going, not sure that he could really Go anywhere.

He learned to use his legs, to dance, to run.

And most importantly, to make music.

The sound of hoof beats a pleasant beat with the Dulce the forest offered.
And there were others, but he found, he could not speak to them, which was fine, he had never been one for words.

A new song had begun.

This, was Chopin's Da Capo.

I have to agree with Dajhi here, this is very great! I really love how you used music terms here (especially the use of Da Capo), and how you made the Twin God Statues talk. Smiling
Inspiring!
