Childhood says hello

Featuring Aurora

Why the title? Because I found an old christmas childbook some days ago, which I loved as a kid and stil quite like.

The german title is "Wo der Weihnachtsmann wohnt". This book has so much cartoony yet wonderful and amazing detailed pictures. I remember how much fun it was for little Nishi back then to look through it and discover every detail there.

Unfortunately, little Nishi already loved pencil works back then and to....well, sadly to draw into books, too. So I consider rebuying another copy of it without my child-time picasso decorations. I do not plan having kids, but in case I should one day, I definitely want to read this book to them.

Oh well, I wanted to draw a reindeer in that style, but it came out again far too detailed. Poor victim was Aurora. Hope you like it, even though it is far from special. *silly grin* She just jumped into my mind, seeing those fellow caribous in the book. Smiling

Now back to projects, though this was a delightful break. ^^

Watercolors and a bit colored pencil work, took about 3hs?

EDIT: The reindeer in the book carry bells around their neck and at their ears so they can be found when moving too far off or getting lost. That's why I gave Aurora the same thingies XD

EDIT2:
Rory and Cal are lucky charms, I am totally sure now.
Just yesterday I went to the shopping center with my mom to help her get stuff for the holidays and walking by a book store, I pulled her in. There I went through the amount of colorful mixed fairy-tale books about Christmas and.... BOOM... found "Wo der Weihnachtsmann wohnt". I checked through the pages and everything was like it was before; all the drawings and the text was the same. (You see, sometimes when they bring an old book out again, they change parts of the content to make it more `accurate` to the society today and I feared they did the same with this book.) Anyway, instant buy of course. Gosh, this sounds silly but I am excited like a child and certainly happy as hell.... no, happy as heaven !!! Laughing out loud Thanks Calinka, Thank Aurora.

That's an amazing painting!!

That's an amazing painting!! You used watercolors AND colored pencils? Awesome @__@
My grandmother might have a book written by Mauri Kunnas.. The style of the pictures in "Wo der Weihnachtsmann wohnt" are very familiar.

Aurora looks so lovely and cute x)

So beautiful and bright! I

So beautiful and bright! I think that you should also consider making drawings like this if you ever have children. Looking at it makes one feel more cheerful.

I think I'll be asking my aunt to send me for the holidays that book you speak of too ^^

Look at you, Nishi, all so

Look at you, Nishi, all so quiet and suddenly BOOM, ART.

I'll say, you really have me smile here! To see that you think of Aurora when reading about reindeer during the pre-christmas time is really hearttouching! And mind you, I definitely could see Aurora as the first female co-worker of Santa, ahaha.

But you know the load of mine I already texted you on MSN - that was a very touching and nice thought of you, thank you so much, Nishi. <333

PS: Aurora-bell-earring is just ADORABLE. Adorable. I want to cuddle my own character, is that weird? xD

@FishBiscuit: Thank you,

@FishBiscuit: Thank you, though I still need to learn much when it comes to traditional art. Yep, Mauri Kunnas did a lot of political satire-pics and also released a lot of books for children from what I heared. But then you have an idea about the style that inspired this picture, even though I have to get a lot more sketchy and simpler when drawing picture such as this. Thank you again.

@Nimariel: Aww, such kind words from you, darling. Thank you thank you thank you!!! Yes, you should defiantly ask your aunt. It is worth it!! *hugs*

@SighthoundLady: Thanks a lot!! I have to admit, I would love to see traditional arts from you, too. They must look breath taking considering your style Smiling

@Calinka: Well, that is the closed Nishi-style!! Yeah!!! *dances gangnam style XDD*

Making you smile makes me smile. Knowing I could bright up someones day means I have done my job well. And you know, she doesn't even need a red nose, because she has her brain for finding the way (*cough* and a GPS *cough*).

You are very welcome. And as we already know, you paid me back well, you walking lucky charm, you. *hugs hard*

And nope, it is not weird, those ear bells are just too charming. If you already have or ever will have an Aurora plush/figure, you need to buy such a little bell to put it on her ear for the Christmas time.
