I'm no expert on that, but I know you need a program like Gimp or photoshop...
Usually you need to have a solid coloured background behind the image you want to have a transparent background.
Then you have to find out where the "transparency" option is in the program. And set the colour of the background, to transparent...
That's really basic instructions I think... but you should be good as long as you have a program that can make transparencies.
If you have Photoshop, when you create a file, at the very bottom is a drop-down menu that asks you what you would like for your background. i.e. Black, white, current color, transparent.
