She was just a fawn when her father died. Ever since she had a tough fawnhood. Sometimes she felt like drowning herself in the pond, so she could see her father again. Other times she would sit on a hill, and look at the stars, wishing her father could be right there, telling her the story of the stars.
"Every time someone dies, there is a new star in the sky. But some deer never make it to the stars. They can only become a star when their business is finished." He would say. And she would listen to her father's stories, looking at the night sky, dreaming of becoming a star one day.
Well...they didn't even know how her father died in the first place. Voice and her mother heard a fawn coming. It was her brother. "Dad is dead!" He blurted out. He showed them his dead body and they grieved.
Soon Voice grew up, but she still missed her father terribly. But something didn't seem quite right, and she could not find out what it was until she was looking at the night sky one night. The stars shone... but Voice... for some reason... she knew one of them was not her father. She was trying to find his star all night, but not one star was her father's. Then she remembered his story. Voice knew that if a deer died without his business finished, he would not become a star, so her father must of had some unfinished business. Maybe it was his death.... His death! How did he really die? Perhaps he was... murdered! Voice knew that if she wanted her father to become a star, she had to find his murderer.
Every day Voice became more suspicious of her father's death. When she asked her mother about it, all she said was, "It was just a fawnhood story. Your father safe in heaven right now, and besides, your father was so sweet. Who would of ever killed him?" Then she asked her brother. All he said was, "That was the past, and we should all focus on the present." and walked away. Voice noticed that he didn't like to talk about his father at all, not just his death, but when he lived.
But Voice didn't really focus on that. She was focused on looking for her father's murderer.
Meanwhile, her brother was in love with a doe. One day the doe said that she didn't love him, and walked away. His heart broke into millions of pieces, and he would not stop crying everyday. Then he saw the doe with another buck. He started to shake uncontrollably. He started to go insane. Was this really happening? Was this all a dream? Then he saw a fawn, bouncing around. Tears started to flood down his face. And the doe said "I love you," to the buck. He could not take it anymore. He charged at them, killing the family. He was driven into madness.
One day Voice went to the De Drinkplatts. She heard a sound... another deer. She sniffed and recognized her brother's scent. And...blood. She turned around. "Are you hurt?" She asked.
And indeed, her brother was hurt. By his love of his life. He started laughing uncontrollably, and pierced his antlers into her chest. Then he reared, hitting her face, smashing it into the ground. Voice was too stunned to fight back. Blood splattered everywhere. Voice closed her eyes, expecting her brother to give the final blow, but felt nothing. But she knew she would die anyways. She had lost a lot of blood, and her wounds were too deep to be healed.
"Brother...why?" She croaked. Her voice was creaky and rough.
Her brother started to laugh. He never did answer her question. Voice got up, and slowly limped away. She limped for hours, trying to get home in time, but halfway, she fell to the ground. She was dizzy from blood loss. A tear rolled down her face. Before she died she whispered, "Mother... goodbye..." and closed her eyes.
The next thing she knew she was in darkness. And she saw a star. But the star faded away and she saw the Twin Gods, Micheal and Auria. "Am I dead?" She asked. They nodded. "But you will not be a star in the night sky," Auria said. "Because your business in not finished." Said Micheal.
"Wh-what business?" Voice said. Her voice was normal now, it was not croaky or rough.
"You wanted to know who murdered your father," Micheal explained.
"Then tell me! Who killed him?" Voice roared with rage.
"Your brother," Micheal said. Auria nodded. "You see, when he was a fawn, he had two other fawn friends. One day they asked him to push his father into the river. At first he refused, but when they started to dare him, he accepted. He was too small to push his father so he pushed some rocks downhill. They rolled down, and slammed right into their father, and he fell into the father with a splash. You see, they never intended for him to die, so they just started to laugh, expecting to see their father come up laughing. They did not know that as his father fell in the pond, the rocks landed on his legs and back, so his father couldn't swim back up. He ended up drowning. When the fawns realized this they asked another adult deer to pull him out, and got you and your mother to come. He never told you two that he murdered his father." She explained.
Voice started to cry. "This never happened," she cried. "this is all a dream."
"Voice..." They said. "It is all true... we were watching."
"No!" Voice yelled.
"Until your business is finished, you will never become a star." The darkness disappeared, and so did the Twin Gods.
"That... was a very weird dream." She said. She got up and started walking home, but she felt... weird. She looked at one of her legs and gasped. Her leg was transparent! She looked all over her body. She was completely transparent! Voice suddenly realized that it wasn't a dream. She was a ghost.
"What is the point of dieing then, if I won't reach the stars?" She said, looking up.
"Someone must save me... and they will..."
And to this day, Voice's ghost roams the forest. She cries for help, wondering if anyone would save her. So if you hear her call, she is calling to you... to save her... from death.
