------
The peacock stag was tired of being depressed. All he wanted was a day where he can actually stop crying for once. He sighed as he looked at his reflection. Then... he heard dancing and laughing. He turned and saw Phobos, Honeyfur, Nanetta, and some moose called... Moose, all wearing the red pelt, hanging by the Crying Idol.
Maybe Peirce could join them. Actually have some fun. Be friends again. Happy ending. He walked up to them, hesitating a little, then saying "Hi!" All the deer turned around, looking at him.
Phobos scratched the ground. "We don't want you here, Peirce." Honeyfur snorted, Moose started trying to shoo Peirce away, and Nane... well, she was so small, the only thing she could really do was yell at him to shoo.
Peirce was shocked. He was not expecting them to reject them. "Guys... I didn't... mean... any harm..." He started to back away. Phobos started to taunt at him.
Stop it! Do you know how hard it is to shoo away the monster?
But the orange stag could not read his mind and kept shooing him. He started to rear.
...That.... is....it...
Peirce started to shake with anger and rage as the monster clenched him. He roared a raged moo, and charged at Phobos knocking him into the river. He got up, shook, spraying droplets everywhere, and reared, a warning for Peirce. But Peirce didn't respond, because he was trapped inside the body of the monster. He knocked Phobos over, smashing him to the ground. Dust flew everywhere. Suddenly Peirce felt hooves and antlers. Moose charged into his side and Nane was attacking his legs, making it nearly impossible to move. Then he saw Honeyfur. He saw her rear.
...The monster... It has broken friendships!
Peirce fell to the ground. He couldn't do anything. He felt hooves and antlers beating him. He mooed in pain as his blood spewed in the air. He finally got the chance to get up- and ran. Far away. While running, he looked back. They were actually relieved that he was gone.
Peirce kept running until he was far away from the sight of any deer and lied down in a patch of purple flowers. The monster let go, and now Peirce felt bad for what he did. Then he heard something. A human.
Ella.
Ella was carrying a knife, with a red ribbon attached to it. She walked to his flower patch, and started to pat him on the head. "Peirce, you are a very good stag. Such a sweet buck. It's a shame the monster has taken over you. People won't treat you the same for a while." She said.
Peirce was shocked Ella knew about the monster. "The monster? You feel it too?" Ella nodded. "Every person, every animal, has a monster within. The monster is somewhat like rabies, though you don't get it by being bit. What happens is that the person gets angry, or sad, a monster is born inside them. As they get more angry or sad, the monster grows. When the monster reaches maturity, and can take over the body at any time. Controlling them. And the person tries to escape. I hate seeing people being attacked by the monster. Especially you, Peirce." She explained.
"So... I see... my monster is mature now. And I hate it. I feel so bad, but the monster... well... I just....
hate him." Peirce said.
"But, there is a cure." Ella said. "If the deer feels calm, or is away from anger, hate and sadness, or whatever caused the monster, well... the monster feeds on hate and anger. It needs it or else it will die. So it will die when the person is calm." She explained. "Come. Follow me."
Peirce followed Ella to the Ruins. She pointed at the cage. "Go inside it."
Peirce walked into the cage. The little violin sound somewhat calmed Peirce. Then he realized Ella was walking away. "Where are you going?" He asked.
"Leaving you alone, so you can be calm." Ella said.
"What!?" Peirce ran out of the cage, but instead of running though the cage, that little mysterious blue glow appearing, and that violin sound, Peirce felt something bump his head. He tried to escape the cage, but nothing happened.
"Ella! What did you do!" He mooed. Ella did not answer. A little black cloud surrounded her, and when it disappeared, she was gone.
Peirce started roaring in anger, and then he calmed down. He heard Ella's voice.
"You will stay in here for a week. By then the monster will be dead."
Peirce relaxed. The monster. Dead. Boy, he couldn't wait for that. Seeing Phobos and not feeling the monster within him. He feel asleep in the cage, dreaming of running though the forest- without a monster within.
