Ubaki laid lazily in a patch of shade, and looked out onto the lake. He watched as the other deer splashed in the water, or played out o the shore, and sighed. He knew he couldn't go getting close to them, but wished he could. Staying out at the sidelines all the time truly was lonely, and the water would help soothe his burns, but he would just wait for night as usual-
He snapped out of his thoughts when he thought he heard someone nearby, and looked around nervously, knowing he would have to leave so he wouldn't disgust them...
Hadou walked through strange forest. He held his large black skull like head high, and silently stepped through the brush. His ears turned around, every which way, hearing odd nosies, and animals near by. He was very cautious in this forest, and was a little jumpy. He tilted his head, seeing water and seeing deer running and playing in a small lake. He walked on, not sure of what they were doing, but he was rather thirsty. He walked on, out of the woods, into the clearing. The lake was nice, clear and looked cool. He trotted over, taking a sip of water, and then looking around. He narrowed his white eyes at a small stag, with what looked like embers on his back. They were smouldering, but he didn't seem to notice or be bothered by it. Hadou didn't question it, he himself was strange. He walked slowly over to it, circling around him.
"Doesn't that hurt?" he said in a flat tone to the deer, laying on the ground. He picked a leg up, and pointed to it while he paced around him.
Ubaki jolted to his feet, and looked back to see the other deer. "O-oh.. I-I-I'm s-sorry, I didn't see you... I-I would have already moved if I had," he apologized, too worried to have even heard what the other had said at first. He stopped when he realized the other had spoken, and didn't seem to be leaving.
"O-oh... um, it does a bit, but I-I'm used to it by n-now...." he answered, and wasn't sure what to do in this situation as he rarely was in the company of anyone else and had little practice with being social.
Hadou stopped, and sat. He kept his eyes narrowed and head tilted, studying the burning deer. He seemed nervous, though it was more like awkwardness, but he was not sure just yet. After he sat down, in front of the stag, his markings began to change. From a deep scarlet, to a burnt orange color. The new color was curiosity, the old was caution. He knew this creature was no threat.
"I'm curious, how does that," he paused and pointed again to the burning flesh, "happen, and not kill you? It's odd." he asked and then commented still in a flat voice, genuinely interested. He sniffed the air, smelling the burning flesh. He didn't mind the smell, it just smelt like ash to him, which wasn't too horrible. He had smelt much worse things.
Ubaki watched the other stag sit, and couldn't help but stare as their markings shifted color. "I-I, um, I'm n-not too sure myself..." he answered, but was noticeably distracted. His distraction ceased as he noticed the other stag sniffing the air. "O-oh no, I-I'm so sorry, I know it smells awful... U-um, I could move f-farther away if you'd l-like...?" he offered, and the burns on his face glowed slightly brighter in embarrassment.
