Background
The first thing Bluebell would tell you about her childhood- if you ever gathered up the gall to ask- would be that it was like it is now; solitary.
The first deer Bluebell can remember knowing was an elderly stag called Hemlock. Despite his age Hemlock always commanded an air of power about him, most likely aided by his impressive antlers and that no doubt awed a little Bluebell. Hemlock took Bluebell under his wing and the two lived a nomadic life, never really settling in one forest for long before moving onto new lands.
Eventually Bluebell grew older and questioning. She wished to know why they had no herd, why they always kept moving, and why Hemlock had taken her in as his own. Bluebell pestered the old man over and over, noticing how much bigger than him she seemed now and noticing how he couldn't keep up with her as well as he used to. She knew that one day Hemlock would wear down and answer her truthfully.
But the day he did, she wished he hadn't.
Hemlock simply collapsed one autumn afternoon, his now frail body barely making a sound as he fell. With his last few breaths he told the weeping Bluebell everything she had ever wanted to know.
The two had once been part of a smallish but powerful herd of deer that ruled over an entire forest that resided in the shadow of a mountain. Hemlock's son, Hazel, was the leader, just as Hemlock had and his father before him, and all was good until a horrific storm had swept over the forest, dowsing it with one long, harsh downpour. The mountain eventually gave way under the pressure and a deluge of muddy water and boulders crashed down into the forest, flooding and crushing anything that came in its way.
This included Hemlock and Bluebell's herd. Almost the entire forest was destroyed, and the parts that weren't ended up polluted from the harsh minerals that had lain within the mountain and the bodies of what had perished during the disaster. The forest had been effectively split in two by the debris and water, splitting apart what remained of the herd.
Seeing the damage impacted on both the forest and the few living animals that had- by some miracle- survived, Hemlock had made the decicion to leave his perished home with the hopes of building a new herd on new territory from the ground up. With him travelled Verbena, the late Hazel's doe who was pregnant with the next in line. The plan she formed was to take in loner deer who could help form a new herd and Verbena would lead until she and Hazel's child came of age. The child was eventually born but it was too much for Verbana and she passed on, and without her lively attitude Hemlock fell back from the plan, feeling he was too old to keep up such a grandiose dream and vowed to raise the child in place of Verbana and Hazel.
Bluebell didn't need any more to know how the rest of the story went.
When Hemlock finally breathed his last breath Bluebell did what she knew best- move on. She left Hemlock's body to return to the earth and travelled far away until she came to a forest she hadn't come across before. Despite the amount of other deer unnerving her lonesome personality slightly, Bluebell took the abundance of her namesakes that grew in the forest as a sign that there was where she should stay.
Interactions
Bluebell doesn't tend to stay in one group for long and tends to leave to walk around the forest. This behaviour isn't meant in a rude or offensive way, Bluebell is simply a loner at heart and likes to have time to herself. In order to prevent misunderstanding she bows to show respect to the group as a whole before leaving to do whatever her heart may tell her at the time. If a deer wishes to find her it's a good idea to look around the bluebell patches that patch the area, since she finds her namesakes to have a comforting scent and anjoys watching the butterflies flutter about.
Despite this seemingly cold attitude, Bluebell isn't aggressive towards other deer if they approach and will gladly interact if they persist. She is friendly towards fawns, hating to see them wandering around the forest alone and calling out to nobody in particular. If she manages to engage them she'll lead them to a group and, if all goes well with the fawn and the others, she will make her leave and return to doing whatever she wishes to. If a fawn were to follow her even after being brought to a group she would accept this, but still try to insist they stay with the group because she feels one lone doe would not be able to protect a fawn.
If a deer came up to Bluebell and started acting in an aggressive way, Bluebell would cower and back away, especially if she and the deer in question were in a group the deer would be a part of. However, if she felt she had a need to fight back or had a reason to be violent ( eg, a deer had been violent towards a deer she was friends with ) then Bluebell would throw her all into it. Unfortunately Bluebell's fighting ability isn't the best, so unless she was VERY angry it's likely she wouldn't be able to land a final blow. One thing Bluebell would have on her side would be stamina and pain tolerance, but being beaten up isn't exactly a fight so she avoids relying on these points if possible.
Basically, Bluebell is an outsider looking in and likes to keep things that way.
