A Life to Live -- Story contest for Baal

Her sproutling.
That is what she had always called him from the day he came into this world.
A beautiful color she had said.
So many hues of green.
If he wasn’t wearing his mask, you would never find him.
Always mimicking his brother shrubs.
Always playing.
Always blending.
Always happy.
Never an ounce of sadness on his delicate little face.
As long as she was there, no pain could ever find him.

But happiness never lasts.
It can not be forever.
Can not outlive the whims of the gods.

And so, on a cold unnatural night, we say goodbye to the one who brought him here.
To the one who gave him life.
Gave him reason to live.

Slowly, his colors began to grey.
His mask; it cracked.
His heart; it shattered.
All seemed worthless.
All seemed lost.

Days turned frosted.
Nights became bitter with the stench of nothingness.
And by the end of a long journey, unremembered and uncared for, far to thin legs carried a withering frame to a land anew.

As he stood there atop the tallest hill, looking out at this wide landscape soon to be his dwelling ground, he felt nothing.
No joy of a new beginning.
Nothing.

But then, a voice.
A soft melodious voice whistling through the trees.
A voice that brought back his hope, his color, his spark!

This willow wisp!
It was her!

She had found him at last.

She came to him.
Brushing his face with a gentle breeze.
Calling from the forest.
Willing him to rise and be her precise sproutling once again.

'Come', she said, 'Come back to the land.'
'Feel how the plantlings have been lost without you.'
'How they too have felt your pain; unable to comfort their brother in his time
mourning.'

He felt. He heard. He welcomed all.
He stood there, hooves planted firmly in the soil beneath him.
Looking out across a land now seen through eyes unclouded by despair.

His brothers and sisters all looked on in awe at his now vibrant malachite hide.

Harlow did have a mom, but sadly she has left :cc

I would really like for him to have a mother or a father, so I can further build up his history and such. Is there anyone out there with a deer that wouldnt mind adopting the little fella?

Through Your Eyes... (Baal's Writing Contest)

"Mother? Mother where are you?", the silence broke in the Forest. A young fawn wandered around, hopelessly lost and shivering from the slight breeze. The crisp October air caressed her newborn fur, cooling her as she ran and looked around. She had only been alive for a week, and did not know much about the Forest or its inhabitants.

She came to a stop at a patch of violet flowers. Catching her breath, she slumped down and began to sob. "Why can't I find you, Mom?", she cried. At that moment, she heard a twig snap nearby. Her ears perked and she sat up, looking past the trees with her brown eyes.

In the clearing walked a great stag, the wind making his thick brown fur ripple as he made his way. His antlers rose up like the limbs of white trees, curling in all directions. The fawn could not see his face very well, so she hid behind a nearby tree and peeked at the stag curiously.

The great deer stopped, already aware of her presence, and turned to look at her. Startled, she concealed herself behind the tree, but she caught a glimpse of the face - red with a white nose and brow, his eyes seemed gentle, and there was a smile on his face.

The fawn's heart raced. She knew he had spotted her, and she didn't know who he was or what he might do to her. She wanted to scream, but her voice gave in. Her legs were tired and wobbled, and soon she lost her strength and hit the ground hard. Maybe he won't bother me..., she began to think, about the time the great stag peeked around the tree at her.

The fawn stared up at him with her eyes wide open. Her heart literally skipped a beat, and her blood went cold. She was terrified, and completely froze up. The stag smiled, bowed his head slightly, and began to walk away.

She let out a little sigh of relief, though still frightened, she found the strength to rise to her hooves. Okay. Run! Get away!, her mind tried to tell her, but her heart was already feeling a different idea.

The Diary of Seed, 10-2-09

I love the snow. There is something about any new face of the forest that brings it a new spring joy, something unexpected and wild. The snow, I love for its strangeness: the tender fragility of the snowflakes, looking so soft and so brittle all at once, each little crystal reminds me of a heart. They're born, they fall a little while, and they melt. And somehow, in the dance of their fall, it isn't sad but wonderous. That in itself, beyond the beautiful lilac color of the lake or the light fog that spreads out across the horizon, turning the world around you into a white bubble, is an amazing part of snow.

I awoke, and ran into the fawn Aleit who I had seen the other day with Virgil. We immediately set to playing by the shores of the lake, Aleit bouncing around, our laughter filling the crisp air in bright mists. Something about the light and energetic movements of him put me in the mind of a kaleidoscope of butterflies, fluttering giddily around their flowers, without a care in the world. Aleit's exuberance reminded me of my own as a fawn, and the bright waters of the lake lured me into trying to teach him one of my favorite tricks, one that many fawns don't seem to know anymore: water-walking. He was a quick study, and soon the two of us were leaping out over the flower-colored waters. Not without mishap: but that is, I suppose, the fate of snowflakes. The water I fell into was brisk, but not too cold; so close to the earth, it retained warmth enough to keep the freeze off of its glistening surface.

Aleit and I set off right away to getting my set back. On the last stage, we began to be joined by others: Quamar, Fay, and Nightshade. The hardest, final part was the pelt, where we cycled though nearly half-a-dozen sleeping deer, as they all either vanished or, in Quamar's case, awoke. Eventually, though, we got it back.

Helluuuuuuuuuuu... Again 8D

So, I had a deer on here that had a pictogram that I was not so fond of.... 8P

After hours of clicking I found one that I felt was a good choice.

Also, expect to see some art from me..... maybe..... D8

Who Should - Oct 5th

Right then, October the 5th is my Birthday... October the 5th is Toxic's birthday... but also, October the 5th is the start of the Rut in which Claudia is going to be coming into.

Now my main question is... should I be on Birthday Boy for the day when I'm allowed on or should I just be on Claudia so she can take place in a few hours of Rutting before I have to go offline XD I have the 4th, 5th and 6th off so I want to get as much time in for the Rut as I can due to work but I also want to play Toxic... despite his current state of being ill and hiding away in the Old Oak.

So you guys can just go RAWR! Be on Toxic or be on Claudia D< I'm all for either. And I can log between the two but I don't want to ruin anything in general XD;;;;;;;;

Anyway... that is all... enjoy.
