He awakens with a stir, his brittle fawn legs shaking, something was moving around in the bushes to his right. He jumps up with a frantic look on his face. The noise gets deeper and deeper into the forest until there was silence. Monty? Hello? Are you there? He asks hopefully. His brother Monty was the only thing he has left with his parents abandoning them. He wanted him, no, needed him to be here. Monty this isn’t funny. Come out NOW! He steadily walks up to the bush. He Parts the leaves in the way of his view. His face goes white. NO! He cries. His brother’s necklace glistens in the sun. The little charm of a leaf is stained with the blood that ran through his brother’s veins. Why? Oh why would this happen? Why not me? Why couldn’t you of taken me?! He crashes to the ground in a heap of sorrow. He can’t go on. He won’t do it. He has no one and nothing to look forward to. Then he remembers his brother saying, “Don’t give up you hear me? No matter what happens! Promise me you won’t!” and he had promised. He starts to stand up weakly, taking the necklace in his mouth and runs to the river. He dips the charm slowly in the running water. I will do this for you brother. He says as he looks to the sky. Taking the necklace he swings it around his neck. No matter what, I will always go on. I will protect those who have done no wrong. Laying down he begins to weep until finally everything goes black and his body goes numb, letting his dreams take him someplace safe.
