I have a character who came from the human world into TEF, I'm planning on humans calling it something other than TEF. Something like "another world" or "no mans land" but I want it to be translated into another language.
You can comment below a sentence referring to another world or a land where humans can't go and with the exact translation and I'll choose what one I like best. I'm always looking for just short sentences for things to say 'Another world' and such like that, sentence, "name", etc.
Please don't take this as disliking the language itself.
Please don't make things purposely mistranslated.
rubs my little hands all over
"C'è un mondo, che può sarà aperto attraverso i tuoi sogni. Pensano è falso; è solamente una opera narrativa, una storia di fantasia, e il bambino di il mente umana. Ma, sono sbagliati."
There is a world that can only be reached [ltrl. can only be opened] through your dreams. They think that it is fake; that it is only a work of fiction, an imagined story, and the offspring [ltrl. child] of the human mind. But, they are wrong.
please.... drupal, spare me....
@Shey: Oohoh that sounds
In Welsh there are various
If you wanted a direct translation of "the other world", you could use either Y Byd Arall (the other world) or just Byd Arall (other world).
"C'è un mondo, che può essere
Tiny fixes! I'm half Italian and I can speak it.. MOSTLY well. This sentance was written pretty perfectly tho.
Thanks guys
A few morsels of Croatian for
"drugi svijet" - other world
"negdje drugdje" - somewhere else, "nekamo drugamo" - to somewhere else
"ni?ija zemlja" - no man's land
"inozemstvo" - abroad LOL
I'll add stuff with my
"Másvilág" literally translates to "other world".
"Messzi vidék" is "far away land".
"Senkiföldje" means "nobody's land".
*flexes my Spanish* Otro
Otro mundo - Other world
El lugar que ningún humano puede ir - The place that no human is able to go
Detrás de dos pilares de alabastro efigies está un mundo donde nadie puede visite: una tierra infinitas y ondulantes de magia luces y piedras ese grito. - Behind two pillars of alabaster effigies lay a world where none may visit: a infinite and undulating land of magick lights and stones that cry.
All are exact translations so may sound a lil wonky in English
I know that in Irish
They're a little specific to where they are, but their basis might lead you to some ideas. I've also found that a lot of Otherworlds tend to overlap, like Tír na nÓg is similar to the fabled Avalon in Arthurian legend.
Old Irish and Welsh tends to be my favorite for mystical names because their myths and names sound very fairytale-like to me |D
Another idea if naming is giving you trouble, be literal with your names, like call the forest something along the lines of "land of sun and wood" or even just "the endless forest" and translate that into whatever language you like. In my Irish examples, the names tend to translate to a very brief description of the land, like Avalon means something along the lines of "land of the apple trees" and Tír na nÓg is "land of youth".
Just another suggestion if it helps give you any other ideas~ What you have so far sounds pretty interesting c:
lol I'm just super into mythology and world-building, it's part of what I do for part of my living so I just automatically have a bunch of random info |D
