The sky was covered with soft wavy clouds. Despite the warm orange color of the sunset, the air began to get cold. Cedrelÿa was slowly walking through the forest, gazing the Sun she could glimpse behind the high trees. The forest seemed quite deserted, only the firs scent and the wind melody lulled the finned doe. She was glad to be able to enjoy the end of the day alone, in the calm of the coming night. The autumn leaves was crumbling under her hooves, until she stops suddenly, recognizing a familiar scent in the air ... That only could be Sthenelus !

Following the scent, she finally glimpsed a dark mass in the middle of a pile of leaves ... Cedrelÿa started to walk to him, attracting by the mesmerizing flames of his candles, dancing according to the breeze direction. When she was enough close to see his face, she noticed he was deeply sleeping. She didn't want disturb him in his dreams, and sat silently against him, to keep him warm.

Schism snoozed on, hardly

Schism snoozed on, hardly attentive to the world around him as he lay there, his black flesh pressed against the rough, biting bark of the tree. He didn't mind. Sprawled in a tedious expanse of fallen leaves, his body treading upon their fragile expanses, the brute's body rose and fell with slow, consistent expanses of breath. It was... peaceful here, at night, as the moon swallowed the sun. Carefree. Rarely did he feel like this, but sleep and the night were times in particular when he could find peace.

Stirring slightly as a new warmth pressed against him, his ears flicked curiously. The crimson and black bull rose his head groggily, turning his facials to face the stranger with his working on. Cedrelÿa. A smile crept on his lips and he nudged her fondly, dipping his head in greeting. "Hello."

The finned doe believed her heart will stop to beat ... the lovely attention of the tall stag moved her deeply, as this is the friend from who she's the most attached. Share this peaceful atmosphere with him was a real godsend ... And she would love take advantage to this moment where they were alone to show him more the true romantic feelings she began to have for him since some days. But she couldn't for the moment, knowing the stag seemed not ready to love another doe. And ... maybe less to love a strange scaled creature ....

Cedrelÿa answered to Schism, showing to him her largest smile, and tenderly gazing him. As she sat against him without ask him his permission before, she told him with a soft but deep voice "Hello you ... I hope I don't disturb you in the beautiful dream you seemed to were in ?". The finned doe finished her answer with a gentle laugh, followed by another large smile.

Schism considered for a

Schism considered for a moment, watching her, silently squinting in thought. "No, you didn't," he reassured her, a pleasant smile creeping onto his features. "I can't remember it," he shrugged. "It must not have been very beautiful, I suppose," his smile widened and he nudged her again. "How's your day been? Impress lots of stags during the rut, mm?"

The scaled doe shivered when

The scaled doe shivered when the large stag nudged her. Her question was quite unexpected. Cedrelÿa can't be able to lie, and admit with a slight disappointment: "Oh ... not really ... How can you believe that a stag can be attracted by a doe with antlers ... It's too masculine. But hey, a stag seemed to be interested by me, as he invited me in his herd and cuddled me. But erf ... Too possessive with his does, I couldn't stay with any longer. I prefer my liberty, and walk where I want." The aquatic doe was quite proud to tell this last thing to Schism ... And tried to detect a ounce of jealousy on the non romantic stag features. She followed asking him: "And you ... Did you find a conquest ? ". She gritted her teeth, wishing the answer won't be positive.

Schism frowned. "That's

Schism frowned. "That's silly. I've seen antlered does with stags all over them. It'll just take some time, and soon you'll be complaining about how they're all over you," he teased, his frown turning into a gentle, encouraging smile that wavered at her mention of another harem. He shifted rather uncomfortably at her latter question. "No," the ashen bull responded. "I've mostly played for fun, I suppose. I haven't been too interested in keeping more than those I know."

Cedrelÿa was quite reassured

Cedrelÿa was quite reassured by Schism's words. Above all concerning the fact he didn't really pay attention to other does. But she stayed a little skeptical, as he was somewhat hopping she had some stags looking for her. The possibility that he couldn't be interested at all by her made her a little uncomfortable. The muscular doe tempted clumsily to reveal her feelings to him. "What you say is encouraging. And I hope you're right. But in fact, I really don't care to have a lot of stags around me ... As my heart is already reserved for someone special." She tried to hide her embarrassment, to he couldn't be sure she was talking about him. She prefered test her reaction, staying vague about the stag she has feelings for.

Schism felt a little pang at

Schism felt a little pang at this. He'd tried for what felt like ever to drive away the possessive emotions he often encountered. What right did he have to be jealous? He didn't know. Pressing a bit of a frown away, creasing it into a somewhat hopeful smile, he tilted his head. "Oh, really now?" his voice drifted into something light hearted and teasing, his smile wavering slightly. "Do I know them?"

Cedrelÿa felt that the

Cedrelÿa felt that the features on Schism's face was different during one seconde. But she thought that the desire he loves her was too strong, and that's certainly why she imagined he was jealous at this moment. She closed her eyes during a short moment as to think more objectively. She suddenly had the strange feeling this stag will never love her as she dreamed it. She felt like she just lost her heart, but reassured herself thinking it should be better for her. She didn't want her jealousy break their friendship one day, as she's really attached to this gentle stag. "If you know them ... I think you don't ... ." Her voice started to quavering, and some tears appeared on her eyes. She felt so silly at this moment, and prefered all confess to him ... He's one of his closest friend after all.

"What I just told you is a lie ... You know him, and you know him better than everyone, as it's YOU !! But don't pay attention to this, I know your feelings towards me are not the same, and I understand. I'll try my best to destroy totally these romantic dreams, be sure of that." The doe didn't dare to gaze Schism, she felt so lost at this moment, and wished more than ever to be elsewhere.

Sthenelus stared at her, his

Sthenelus stared at her, his head cocked to a curious angle, his brows raising to indicate his desire to prompt her onward. He certainly was no doe, definitely not hell-bent on gossiping, but... she was his friend. And friends cared what went on in one another's life, no matter how trivial, and love was certainly not a trivial thing. His lips parted in sorrow at the sight of liquid around the rims of the does eyes, and the Red Raven went to cautiously, reassuringly nudge her. "Alright there...?" he ventured, smiling gently.

The smile creased into something of... surprise. Surprise and regret over her confessions. His heart was troubled, as it so often was. Riddled with guilt, desire, and so much more. Confusion. He wasn't sure he was prepared for any prospect of feelings, even if he knew, deep down or quite obviously, that he returned them. "It's not that I don't..." he fumbled for words, looking around desperately for some way to respond. "I'm not good with.. love. Emotions," he began, rather stupidly, staring a this hooves. "I feel them--but I don't always understand them. Especially not... not now," he gave her a small smile, tilting his head. "You're brilliant, Cedrelya. Absolutely brilliant--but I'm not ready to acknowledge my own feelings. Not yet." And probably not ever he added mentally, inwardly sighing.

Cedrelÿa was quite confused

Cedrelÿa was quite confused by Schism's answer ... So ? He doesn't know ? Strange ... But there is certainly a reason to explain that. After all, Cedrelÿa didn't know a lot from the past of this stag. Why is he no longer with Allison ? Why does he lost his left eye ? She in fact never dared to ask him something about this, as it's indiscreet and also because there is always Black Knight or Fall around. But this night, they have the opportunity to discuss deeper, in a quiet place. "Don't worry about it ... I don't want annoyed you or forced you to love me. I'm also afraid by the fact I have strong feelings for you, whereas I don't know your story. But I didn't dare ask you something about it, as I imagine you have a dark past you certainly don't want to talk about. But if by chance this night you want to confide in me, be sure I'll be here for you. Remember, I'm your friend." Cedrelÿa stood up slowly, to sat on the other side of Schism. Gazing in details the scar where there was an eye before, she couldn't stop to feel sad for him ... She licked cautiously the damaged skin before put tenderly her face against his. She was determined to know more about her close friend, she was ready to share his dark side. Friends are also supposed to be here when things go wrong. She rose her head to his left ear, and started to say, with a small and deep voice "You can't see me but I can hear you ... It should be more easy for you to tell me the truth about you like that. I want know all of you, to better understand your strange behaviour ... I can all hear, I'm understanding. But for that, I need to know who you are exactly."

Schism sat there for a

Schism sat there for a moment, listening to her, unsure what to say. What to do. So he listened in silence. His frame shook slightly, tensing, when the doe stood to approach him on his blind side. His body grew rigid with worry before the new tautness of his muscles evened out. He trusted her. "My past is... complicated," he said, the area around his blind eye squinting, trying to find something to see. Just darkness. He swallowed as she cleansed it, but nodded his thanks.

The Red Raven sighed before he began. "I'm not sure how, or where, to start. But, I guess... I'll begin with when I left the forest a while back. I don't know how I did it. Let alone why. I was just walking one day... and suddenly I was gone. Suddenly the forest wasn't endless anymore..." he blinked at the memory, staring oddly around him with his remaining, golden hue. It was odd speaking to no one. "I had a son, too. I left with him. He followed me. But when I came back, well... he didn't make it back with me," the bull was unable to word what followed, his ears leaning back to pin against his head. He knew why Wahale hadn't come back; but he had no desire to tell.
Eledhwen22's picture

Cedrelÿa listened carefully

Cedrelÿa listened carefully what the stag said, knowing that talk about one's life was always difficult. But when he said that he had a son, she couldn't help but shiver. She never thought he already had a fawn ... She would love to know more about him, but obviously didn't ask nothing more. She felt that he didn't seem to tell her all the truth, but that was comprehensible. Loose a child was certainly the worst thing which could happen.

Ced felt really sad and uncomfortable. Schism had a darker story than she imagined it. And in addition, she doesn't know all yet, as he didn't talk about this missing eye ... Ced felt terribly guilty. Her curiosity was again a wrong personality trait. When Schism finished to talk, she didn't know what to tell him ... What a bad friend she was. Schism deserved better. The silence was here, during a long minute ... before the scaled doe put her head under his muzzle. She said, in a breath, closing firmly her eyes to contain some tears: "I couldn't imagine that Schism ... I'm so sorry ..."

"It's alright... he whispered

"It's alright... he whispered in reply, smiling sadly. "He's in a better place, I would suppose," the Red Raven drifted into silence, staring blindly at the blackness where the doe should have been. He sighed in thought. She wanted to know more, certainly, he would have if he was her. Curiosity was a trait they certainly shared. Shifting uncomfortably in the silence, the ashen bull pulled himself up to a straighter posture before continuing.

"Also... the Knight. Black Knight and I used to be... enemies. Well, nemesis' is a more accurate lable," his expression grew weary. "One day he... he sought to upset me, so he chased Allison. When I stopped him, he had a fit. He was unstable. I wanted to help him see that he didn't need to be so angry at the world, and he ripped my eye out," Sthenelus shrugged and sighed. "I still don't... trust him entirely. But I do my best to help him get past his darker parts of life."

The bull blinked his remaining optic and tilted his head slightly. "Is there anything else you want to know? I can't think of anything..."

Cedrelÿa was really shocked

Cedrelÿa was really shocked ... She didn't know Black Night like that. Yes, she thought he was really mysterious, but didn't imagine him so violent. And now, with her real doe appearance, and the fact she's pregnant, she seems inoffensive. This doe never was boring with her, unless the really first time with Nile. But this was the only one time. "It's difficult for me to imagine Black ... Dae like that. I trust you, that's not the problem. I just hope she has really changed since this time ... We must try our best to that never happen again."
The scaled creature realized how much her questions could be injuring. She gazed in the silence this deep empty orbit, before dare answer to the red raven "My goal is not to make you sad with my questions ... I think you've enough suffered for today, remembering these dark moments from your past. So I have no question anymore, but I can hear you if you want/need tell me something particular."
Ced put softly her head on his back, taking advantage of his sweet fur, her ears flattened back. She would also reassure him with her presence in this way.
