This is absolutely gorgeous...I love the shading/lighting and the contrast of the bright red poppies. I know she's going to be so happy with this, especially since you added the Tilaka/Bindi ^^
I love the pose so much, and how you draw muscles... and your colouring &hearts it's awesome and I know too that she's going to be so happy with it : )
What can I even say? I have absolute no saying in this subject :'p It's perfect, I'd even believe it's a screenshot if it wasn't for the customized face, antlers and the incredible flow of it; the colors, the fur, the poppies in the antlers, it's... it's the in-forest appearance, period. :')
Firstly, the pose and anatomy. The anatomy is gorgeous--I love the length given, in the limbs and the neck, so graceful and suiting of the pose. It all reminds me of that first moment of flight. The texturing of the fur is--as always in your works with fur-detailing--completely realistic. It just looks soft, downy even, to the touch, so welcoming and sweet. I love how you've portrayed the Kabuki pelt, it's a perfect translation of the game's version upon your drawing, flowing beautifully and with the most precise and beautiful shades. The shading in itself, as well, is delightful, the contours of the body and the fur integrate flawlessly, seamlessly. There is not limit to how I admire those careful, precise, and yet ultimately so wild and expressive strokes.
I could go on about the way you portray the fur, but I don't believe I could ever capture what I feel in words. Oh, how I pity the blind for what they're missing here.
And more minute details, too (as I certainly am obsessed with them).
The hooves, for one, and not merely the hooves but also that indentation that travels slightly up the leg where the hooves are cleaved. The adorable little dewclaws, and again the coloration.
The curve of the tail, so... Cute, for lack of a better word.
The expression--and I always pay close attention to such a thing--is one I know upon it so well. I've never drawn Atvana giving this expression, and yet so many portray it that way. It brings me joy, because this is how I see it, this polite, coy little smile ands eyes open, and yet somehow feeling slightly lidded with bliss, always looking toward the sky, the best. Ears drawn back, not in submission or fear or any of those lesser things, but going with the flow of existence, expressing benevolence with a smile.
The poppy flowers--and they are dearly beloved, for I have a story with them and why Atvana wears them so. They are beautiful, bright red like I see and with such gorgeous petals. And too, I love their vines, twisting elegantly through its antlers.
It's antlers, perfect color with them too, so powerful looking, formidible. And yet, as its nature, not the focus, not the intent or even the inherent meaning. I'm sure you must have intuited quite a bit of its nature, just by the way you've portrayed it.
I have to bring the attention back to two things I'd mentioned before: the neck, and especially, the legs. I've seen individuals draw characters with exceptionally long necks, and I've thought, "once, I want to draw it like that, see it like that, because there is something there." And there certainly is--it lends to the poise, stretched up to the heavens, aloft above the miseries and envies of the bottom-level-places. As well, that patch of light beneath its chin, for some reason I simply adore it. Again, the fur detailing, too... Ah, it's just... Wordless.
The legs, now, are one of the things that first caught my attentio. I love the length, the stretch to them, how they look so enthralled in the jump. I love how the front pair fold to the chest, so alive, so fluid.
My words will never fully describe what I have to say, but perhaps the most important thing I could ever say is this:
Thank you, for allowing the chance for anyone to speak up, and for choosing me.
It's not merely the work,
But the thought.
