Under the cut
A globe-like belly stretched from the frame of a very pregnant doe. Her body hunched as she staggered through the brambles, all the while whispering nothings to her unborn fawn. We will be there soon, Anjali, my baby.
The thorns grew thick, pricking more and more at the long fur of the magnificent doe. Her blue-tinged gray coat was slowly being plucked from the supple skin of her form as she rushed to get her Anjali to safety. It is not much further, my child. The doe urged herself forward, pushing through the brambles and in to a glade. Giant lily pads formed a wavering floor as the doe trod over them, stumbling until she reached the destination.
A fragrant blossom greater in size than the circumference of the largest Birch in the forest opened to emit her in to its pale pink depths. Folding herself within it, the doe began the agonizing process of bringing her son in to the world.
The lily flower closed, muffling the sounds of the birthing doe. Of course, this would be the last the doe made a noise, the flower taking in her very essence as food to transport the little fawn to a home. He would never know that his mother had traveled all 200 days of her pregnancy to die in hopes of saving her son from the cruelty of their world.
It was fabled that the flowers chose the best destiny for the fawns that were born within their folds. Deer came from far and wide to sacrifice themselves for their offspring, to get the fawns to a safe place where they would thrive. The fabled lotuses would always take the offspring to the same place, however. They deposited the fawns in The Endless Forest.
The giant lotus comforted the fawn as it winked out of view, only to return a moment later without its precious cargo. It had done its job, and would die soon as well. Two beings would always die to produce one, as was the way of that planet.
((I know it is short… but I always imagined Anjali being born from something like a lotus flower… he is so calm and serene.))
Aww that's cute imagine
Thank you Kaoori for this drawing!Natali looks beautiful =D
Ah, this was sad, but
Either way, thank you so much for writing this, Miss Buttefly; I'm very glad that Anjali now has an origin, and - as always - your writing is wonderful. <3333
Anjali, I would be honored
You're very welcome. It was a wonderful work to create and I thank you for letting me do it.
