So, I figured, why not make the deer I draw myself as into a pseudo-character?

I guess you can call her my deersona. She's an antlered roe deer doe... Wow, try saying that 10 times fast!

Does she look like a roe to you guys?... And does eyebrows+real deer face look strange on this one?...

Darkened it a bit in photoshop. Looks much better now in my eyes.

Incredibly detailed and anatomically correct :D Just the front legs seem a little too short and horse-like to me? I'm not sure, I used to draw them just like that but then I got used to drawing them thin and slender. I'm not sure about the size of the head either, but again, that might be just what I'm used to draw. Other than that I can't spot any relevant flaws Smiling

The eyebrows look a little strange but just for being so dark. Maybe if you lightened them a little or reduced their thickness? The rest is gorgeous, specially that shading, the fur, and specially the 3d feeling. I demand more!

Aww, Eternal, thank you so much! >w< And yeah, those flaws do look a bit weird and I'll be the first to confess I used to draw horses all the time, they were pretty much what got my drawing-ability started TwT;; I guess those habit die hard, eh? >w<

As for eyebrows, they're actually supposed to be maybe a bit too dark and thick because I am personally an eyebrow-monster XD

I get what you mean there,

I get what you mean there, really xD I used to be pretty much based on horses to draw durrs, mostly because I had just begun to have horse riding lessons when I joined the community c: I was at a "OMG FOUR-LEGGED THING WITH HOOVES, MUST DRAW" artistic phase xD the deer faces I draw nowadays are still very horse-like, along with some abnormally heavy, strong and sturdy bodies.

I fail too bad at drawing eyebrows, in paper or anywhere |D

I can definitely see some canine shapes now that you speak of it :D Something about the muzzle and shoulder. I can now notice some of that in your other drawings, but I think it makes them more graceful.

Yes, it's good to try blend

Yes, it's good to try blend very different things in a single canvas :] I often draw deers with a more felyne anatomy, with a tiger/cheetah like toraccic cage and spine; it looks really flowing and somewhat evil, unnatural. But I don't publicy drawings of that style many times because I've been inspired by the art of another person and I don't want more troubles |D
I also randomly add bird, rodent and jurassic elements here and there without noticing.
