Skokey fidgeted.
The tallish man sat in his chair, swaying back and forth, waiting for the clock to strike the next hour. His dyed black hair, aside from ginger bangs, was anxiously smoothed out in an attempt to calm himself. It was almost time.
Fenqua hadn't been home for quite some time. She had a few things she needed to take care of. A few things Skokey had no power over, even though he attempted to help. She even took the twins with her, for some odd reason. He thought she was going to show them off to her friends. He was eagerly awaiting her return. The man jumped when he heard a knock at the door.
Skokey made his way down to the door. "Oh, hey Fulu. What's up?"
The young woman smiled, squinting her black eyes slightly. "Just thought I'd drop by, see how you were. I know Fenqua isn't here right now. You must be lonely all by yourself."
"Yeah, well... That's what TV is for, right?"
Fulu looked behind him. "... The TV is off."
Skokey looked behind him, and blushed lightly. "Well, maybe I didn't feel like watching it..."
Skokey let Fulu in. She kicked off her skaters and hopped up the stairs. She looked a lot like Skokey, you could tell they were siblings. Their faces seemed to be the same shape, and their noses were definately the same. The only thing different about their faces were their eyes. Skokey's dull hazel eyes seemed always half closed, while Fulu's shiny black eyes were normally wide open.
Skokey sat himself on the couch, shifting his body so he was lying on it. He pulled his arms up and put his hands under his head, making his black shirt come up a little. Fulu, walking passed him, slapped his exposed stomach, causing him to yell and move his hands back down.
"So, anything new with you?" She said, twirling her dark brown hair.
"No, not really... Fen's supposed to be back tomorrow. That's something to look forward to." Skokey unconciously ran his fingers through his dyed hair after noticing Fulu play with hers. "Are you going to the Halloween party? I hear Aspen's gonna be there."
Fulu shuddered. "No, I don't think I could take it. I hear it's gonna be actually scary this year. Not just a costume party. I think Clock's going anyway."
"Somebody say my name?" A teenager, about 17 or 18, barged through the door. His black bangs swayed about over his pointed eyes as he dashed up the stairs. "Skokey!" He yelled before slamming his backside onto Skokey's legs.
Skokey smiled and bore his teeth, Clock, you lunatic, get off or I swear I'll-" He grabbed Clock by the arms and they commenced wrestling. Fulu watched in amusement as Skokey threw Clock to the ground and started a little victory dance, followed by Clock pulling him down to the ground.
Alright, you two, break it up!" Q suddenly appeared at the top of the stairs with a smile, clapping his hands loudly.
"Oh, you brought Q, too?"
"Pfft, he drove me, I didn't ask him to come in."
Skokey shoved him to the ground again, "It's my house, I can say whether he comes in or not." The other three stared at him for a few seconds. "You can come in, Q."
"Uhh, thanks. I guess. But I wasn't gonna stay long. Clock wouldn't stop bugging me, so I decided to dump him on you before I left."
"Left? Where are you going?" Fulu stood up, tilting her head.
"I might be transferred to another school soon. I'd have to move. I have to go meet with my principal and see what colleges offer the same courses."
"Aww, Q, I hope you don't move too far away..."
Q shrugged. "Who knows? Maybe I won't move at all. Depends on if my school can make enough money or not. I doubt it though..."
Skokey put a hand on his shoulder. "Well, either way, we'll still keep in touch... Right?"
The older man nodded with a smile, "Yeah. Definately." He lightly slapped Skokey on the back. "I'll tell you what's happening as soon as I find out."
Skokey nodded, letting him go with three goodbyes. Q walked down the stairs and out the door. The hum of an engine started, and soon faded away.
Clock by this time had gotten up and was standing behind Skokey. "Hey, isn't Vessel supposed to be here?"
Fulu stepped to the other two, "I don't know. He's had a pretty hard time lately. Lorak's been getting a little violent."
"He's got a few things to calm down right now. And Xylia's getting a little scared, I'm not expecting to see him for a while now."
"Maybe we should go visit him?"
Skokey put a finger to his lips. His brow furrowed in thought. "Maybe... I haven't seen him in a while."
"I don't think any of us have..."
The young man clapped his hands, he cheerily closed his already squinty eyes, "I think we should go then!"
"Don't make such rash decisions, you little Asian..." He patted Clock's head. He thought a little more. "But I guess we can go anyway..."
"To the Skokey-mobile!" Clock sped down the stairs and out to Skokey's small car. He was soon followed by the other two, and the car started.
The trip to Vessel's apartment always took a while, since he lived on the other side of town. Friendly arguments between the three seemed to shorten the trip, though. Soon enough, they were pulling into the thin driveway sprouting from the single garage. Vessel's beaten and worn car was infront of the garage itself, almost looking like it was about to roll down the driveway and into the road. The little duplex lay to the right of the driveway, a cheery little house that was just the right size for couple or two.
Clock slammed the car door and raced to the side where Vessel and Xylia lived. Skokey, yelling at Clock for slamming his door, came next, followed by Fulu. Skokey gave a knock.
An eerily tall man came to the door, his head almost above the door panel. His sandy hair blew slightly in the breeze, and his icy-blue eyes examined the three infront of him. "Hello Skokey." He said quietly, and noticed Clock and Fulu behind him. "Hello Clock and Fulu. What are you doing here?"
"We just came to visit. See how you were. We haven't seen you for a while." Skokey stared upward at Vessel, smiling cheerfully, hoping it would draw out a smirk.
"The truth is, I already have company. I wasn't expecting more. But you can come in if you want. We wouldn't mind." Vessel stood to the side to let the three in.
Skokey entered the little home, looking at the cozy living room. A TV in the far corner, and a small loveseat on the wall, next to a single computer on a large desk. The kitchen lay behind the living room, with a hallway next to it, and an unseen stairway down to the basement in the kitchen.
The TV wasn't on, but there was plenty of conversation. Xylia was sitting on one side of the couch with Tropa on the other side, talking away about a bunch of different things.
"When did Tropa get here?" Skokey asked, spying the tan woman.
Tropa was wearing a very form-fitting tank, along with skinny jeans. The tips of her chocolate hair were dyed dark green, that matched her eyeshadow. A brown and green jeweled necklace hung from her neck. Skokey saw her black heels sitting innocently by the door. It was the first time he had really met her.
Skokey kicked off his large shoes and made his way over to the other two. Fulu followed, taking her skaters off, and Clock after her, throwing his sandals next to the door.
Hey Xylia. Hey Tropa. How are you two ladies today?"
Xylia smiled sweetly, "I'm fine today... Nothing... special... has happened."
Tropa leaned back on the couch, "Same here. A fairly boring day today."
Skokey was surprised. With Tropa's appearance, he expected a more loose dialect from her. She actually spoke very well.
"Good to hear. I'm sorry if we're intruding. We haven't seen you two... three, in a while. We thought it would be nice to visit."
Vessel had already gone over to the couch. He sat down next to Xylia, putting his arm around her shoulders. "That was... nice of you."
Skokey smiled. Fulu stood next to him while Clock sat down on the floor.
Clock cleared his throat, "So uhh, Tropa... Why are you here?"
The young woman shrugged. "The two invited me. I go to school with Q, you know. So I kind of knew Vessel and Xylia."
"Oh, you're in that same school too? What are you going to do?" Fulu played with her hair again.
"Yeah, you obviously can't stay, can you?"
"Ehh, I decided to drop it. I wasn't really going anywhere anyway. I'll try again when I find a school that can actually afford itself."
Skokey took a breath after a long pause. Apparently no one had anything to add. "Anyone wanna watch a movie?"
