The Written Word.

Deer of the Forest.

I have found something the forest is not meant to know.

Is not meant to have....

I fear the wrath of our Gods should I reveal this secret to you.

Pages upon pages of a dialect resembling the names we carry.

A Lost Language, a Wirtten Word of the Forest...

I will speak the words.

[ A dialect left un spoken in thousands of years rolls off her tongue. Once spoken by the First Deer of the Forest, the knowledge of the Language resides within the mind of every deer. An uncanny ability to translate the words. You listen carefully to the voice narrating which has replaced Mystress'. A human voice. The First Ancestors of the Human-less Forest, you now dwell in. Chills run up your spine as you hear the last words ever written. They somehow know you, and you, know them. ]

The gound shakes beneath our feet....

"Lo you have been given too much!

You have become greedy creatures

and care no more for gratitude to your Gods!"

My hand shakes as I write this. Their voices crack and penetrate the walls around me. Soon to

become Ruins. Their voices return now, as I record the last written words of the Forest.

"You will no longer be able to become man or beast,

you are unworthy of being either!

No, you will become both, never to know the pleasures of either!

Man and Beast together.

You will not speak,

and you will have no name,

for you have tainted your privilege

and have upset your Gods with your ways!"

The forest grows silent and still... The stone walls around me are cold and stiff...

Wait.

A thunder.

I look out.

My god, Man becomes Beast and yet still Man! They call out in desperate crys,

voices melting into horrible roars. The black scribbles I write upon this parchment will be my last,

the last Written Word of the Forest. My hands are becoming stiff and the walls around me begin to

tumble into the darkness of the night and the candles upon my desk have been blown out....

A voice calls.

"You will wait Two Thousand and Ten Years, and Thirty One days

After the Winter Solstice.

It is then, and only then may you ask your

Written Word to be returned to you.

Gratitude is something you Man Beasts have failed in,

perhaps some reverence will get you somewere?"
]

This is our first task.....Great spirits... what can we do....?

(This in an interactive activity, I would enjoy it if your deer could play along and help Mystress unlock the key to asking the in-forest gods to allow Written Word again. The reward will be a symbol-based alphabet in which you can write in as a "code" which can be used in real life mostly, when giving out cards to other TEFers, in which the other person can "crack" the code to your message, or written on pictures-- whatever... Maybe scanned messages? And/or a more complex system that can be a SPOKEN language as well as written (Such as: Kut a veyer a lete oor!) there is a simple and fun way that anyone can learn, without actually LEARNING another language, trust me... You'll see... If you would like this for the entire community to use at will, whenever, wherever, help Mystress out! I need lots of people to be interested!!
I think it would be lots of fun to have a Forest Language with cool symbols you can scribble in whenever. Or, if your deer is a scholar and really wants to get into it, you could have them speak in the Ancient Forest Language for emphasis, and give your readers/RPers something to "crack"! 8D)

GIIIIRL YOU KNOW AEROS IS IN

GIIIIRL YOU KNOW AEROS IS IN but I'm in a bit of a fog so excuse me if I can't quit get this. XDD We're trying to unlock a code, yes?

Well, with what was read (in

Well, with what was read (in black) there are clues in the end as to how to go about/when to ask for the Written Word to be returned! Make sure your DEER comments with potential answers as it wasn't US that lost the ability in the first place. Eye

*Gives it some thought* If

*Gives it some thought* If the clue speaks of reverence, then the answer lies somewhere either on the Twin God's Hill or the Ruins, as both are by their nature, as I understand it, places of worship. Humans would have understood it as The Ruins, and the clue may have been for them more than us, I think. 'Reverence will get you somewhere'....It could also refer to the act of the deep, worshipful bow. The 'somewhere' implies a place, but the use of 'Reverence' there implies it as an action...what do the rest of you think? *thinks some more* Gratitude... That points to a bow, absolutely. A bow in either the Ruins or the hill as part of the request, maybe... As for the date, I propose the 21st of this month, a full 31 days from the Winter Solstice last year.

I would assume the Twin Gods

I would assume the Twin Gods statue - the Ruins aren't known as a place the Gods frequented. However, we could try both places, just to be safe. -nodnod- That seems to be a logical guess, Seed.

tracking for now.

tracking for now. Smiling

Yes, yes... Seed very good!

Yes, yes... Seed very good! It does indeed seem to appear that way. I do wish to gather any, and all deer willing to help us ask the gods. I do not believe only a few of us will be granted such a forbidden gift... And if what Seed says is correct, we have until the end of this month to gather all the deer we can, perhaps then we will be granted permission to reveal the sacred texts, and the key to reading and writing, once more... What secrets and wonders lie ahead?

Awesome you two!
Now, anyone who has read this and is interested in this idea, I'd really like a 'tracking' or 'useless' comment just to tell me who would be interested, its quite a bit of work to make this and I don't want to make it if not a fair amount of people are interested! Let me know and don't be shy!

Hm. So we have two potential

Hm. So we have two potential locations, an action, and a time. I wish the time were a bit more specific. When we gather enough people, should we try and go for broke with a big group all at once (over a period of time, of course, but all at once), or a lot of us go to those two places in smaller numbers?...Hmmm... Of course, there's likely a poem for the occaison...

As you guys can see, I love little interactive game-type things. I'm not sure how the subject interacts with Seed, given that I've always thought he's been writing poems in the pictogram language on the underside of the bridge...But then again, I don't know it, and Seed sometimes is known to possess unusual stores of knowledge from the trees (and possibly his own time as a tree), so that works. After all, a deer who knows the soundtrack to Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella clearly has access to strange things.

Traaaaack! Although it's

Traaaaack!

Although it's useless for Charlie, as she could neither read nor write in life, of course...
LB could probably convince her to try, once they're sorted out.

Zelig loved his human family, so he would be interested. Though, he'd be more interested in helping the other deer gain the knowledge.

I suppose we shall just have

I suppose we shall just have to wait and see. In the meantime, yes, it would be wise to gather otherswho are of the same mindset.

-Tracking- Cataract will

-Tracking-

Cataract will probably take part somehow, we find this interesting, only she doesn't really believe in the twin gods, so I'm not sure.
