Met Þórhalla. Company feels strange to him now after usually roaming alone, having only met hostility from the friends of his escaped prey's or the escaped prey itself as most of his experience with social interactions. Doesn't mind it, nonetheless.

After his failed attempt to hunt, he struggled immensely, though he could be thankful for the strength the winters provided him that kept him from falling victim completely to death. It managed enough for him to find a slightly fresh carcass which replenished a little more than half his energy but it wouldn't be enough to suffice his everlasting hunger. His appetite has been growing again and his search since winter continues and now that winter is over, he would be on his own with his strengths.

Was traveling from the pond when the sound of stamping and digging at the ground caught his attention. What he saw surprised him, he felt a spark of resentment but also pleased to see his old enemy (Varis) still around. The fawn he had tried to hunt back in winter had survived.
They were taller, older, their double-pupils had been healed and they had grown feathers along with a beautiful headdress but to him, their headdress paled in comparison to his own, a part of him which he took great pride in. They threatened with their fangs which weren't the tiny pathetic rows he remembered.
His voice was a chill calm as he said. "Can you speak now yet?"
“Can you restrain yourself from mauling the innocent yet?” Along with their height, their confidence seemed to have grown since their last encounter. His 'escaped prey' had retorted without a second wasted but the comment had little effect on Nemphlèx as he said, "So you can speak." with a smug crooked smile and a huff of laughter. His tone of voice became more playful when he responded to their 'question', "I'm afraid not, I'm getting hungry again. Won't be long until I find the next one."
Nemphlèx felt no guilt for the lives he had taken, it was a game of cat and mouse for him, he needed to catch the mouse before he became the mouse itself and he didn't feel a twinge of remorse for the poor families stricken by their loss and in such a horrific way. Instead, he felt pity that they could succumb to weakness such as empathy and love but to this, he was invincible.
Something different about his enemy had caught his eye when he examined them beneath the covers of his blindfold, he noticed their stomach had swollen quite largely. Could it be? It surely was.
Their feathers twitched and they continued to dig at the ground, "Rotting corpses would suit you better with such a rotten soul.” they insulted with bared teeth but the words again had little effect against the cold-hearted buck.
"Unfortunately, my rotten soul doesn't get much energy from rotting corpses." He said with a slow shake of his head in false self-pity. "What a shame."
Remembering their last chase, the will to live they had when they were young and how they managed to outmatch him and comparing it to the display of threat and confidence, he said. "You put on a much bigger show now than you did that last time, you weren't very scary but you were faster than I would've preferred at the time, I'll give that to you."
“Surprising.” They replied flatly, “You look like less of a threat since last time, but just as abominable.” their fur had ruffled and their headdress had as well, making them appear taller and more of a challenge. "Guess you’re not strong enough to go for prey your own size.”
Their attitude and sharp comments amused Nemphlèx, such a sharp tongue they had developed, much different than the weak and struggling prey he had savaged.
"For now," He admitted. "I could easily go after you, can't move much but I have no interest to, it'd be a waste. I could feed off you then be full for months then whatever you're growing in there would've been left to rot."
"Or eaten by something else, doesn't make much difference to me." He added.
He could feel their anger grow, “Like hell that’d ever happen.” it only kept his smug smile on his face and even more so as they stomped closer to him. They growled quietly and he could see their feathers ruffle. “Consider yourself lucky I didn’t find you earlier.” The threat only sounded like child's play in his ears, he was cold, uncaring and unphased. He was only surprised by the amount of confidence he would've never guessed they could ever have, standing up to the [=]monster[/] that had nearly slaughtered you at your weakness but they proved him wrong.
“I’ll be off now. Your rotten attitude’s bad for the baby.” They only said as they sharply turned away from their childhood monster, they had begun to retreat back the direction they came from when Nemphlèx gave them a chilling and haunting warning. “Count your days. Count the little ones too. Once they’re born, I’ll turn the hourglass.”
Nemphlèx never felt the urge of impulse, no matter how strong the need to wreak his havoc in exchange for what he lost that day, he would lie in wait like a wolf in the shadows and he'll wait until the fateful day comes but vengeance was to wait for today was not that day.
At his threat, they turned back to him with a snarl and yelled, “Keep dreaming, bitter icicle!” before with their head held high, they strut off.
The buck laughed, a loud enough laughter to carry through the forest and ring in his enemy's ears. He as well turned his back, “Until next time.” he called after them as he parted his own way with a slow but proud posture.

Followed the scent of weakness with the lingering craving of blood tainting his tongue with a faint taste. He'd become dull and weak himself with malnourishment and the contemplation that he'd been chasing his own tail came in mind, only to be pushed away with the refusal to accept any flaw within himself,n whether obvious or not.
He was in his worst state, frail but mad, his brain scrambled with a debilitating sense of self-awareness but what was different was the cold that strengthened him far more than he would be in the summer, although a pity for himself that he endured the coming colds in his weakest state but at least the cold kept him on his hooves.
Another scent that followed the smell of weakness had appeared stronger to the buck now and he had begun to grow excited.
He spotted exactly what he was looking for, something smaller and more delicate than himself but despite its youth, it was smarter than Nemphlèx would've guessed as it let out chirps of fear when it spotted his arrival, "Smart thing." he had remarked under his breath. Though despite the fawn alerting the buck that it was aware of the danger he presented, he didn't let that phase him to try and manipulate. Fawns have soft minds and he pitied their pathetic gullibility.
The fawn had opened its mouth in an attempt to unsettle Nemphlèx with its rows of tiny but sharp teeth, it amused Nemphlèx though he inwardly applauded its courage against something strange and bigger than itself. It tried to speak but it struggled, "Wh..wh...o.." not letting the young being get its chance to finish speaking, he quickly answered. "Nemphlèx."
With his eyes hidden behind his blindfold, he examined the fawn, though the blindfold wasn't able to be seen through from an outsiders view, behind it, Nemphlèx could see just fine. The fawn was bleeding and it was difficult to keep a growl from rising in his throat. Its eyes were peculiar as well, bloodshot and green with two pupils.
Repeating Nemphlèx, it tried to speak his name, "Ne-- Neeee..... Pleh.... hhh..." but it gave up quite quickly. There was a vibrating sound on the fawns lips as his speech stalled and Nemphlèx grew increasingly impatient as he waited. In his good state, Nemphlèx could wait for a thousand moons and more without a single twinge of resentment for the long, boring hours passed but this was different, he was dying whether he wanted to admit it to himself, he was starving and Nemphlèx became more of an animal than civilized as all beings do when they grow desperate.
"Neee... want... Wha-uht." Its speech was strange and barely intelligible for the buck. To hear it speak was gruelling and he didn't want to hear much more, “Don’t try to speak child, it isn’t your strongest ability, is it?” he said with his voice flat but mocking. His tongue swiped across his teeth as the phantom taste of blood intensified.
"I-iiiiii... Caa...nn..." The fawn began to inch back when Nemphlèx had taken steps forward.
“Sure, you can, just not that well.” His words were harsh and bitter, full of poison and resentment, "Wouldn't it be better if you couldn't speak at all?" with his threat, he had begun the chase of his hunt as he burst an echoing snarl and a lunge.
The fawns eyes had widened opened when he had lunged and within an instant had flung its body in an attempt to escape the bucks deathly jaws. It began to run from Nemphlèx but had quickly tripped and fallen on its face as its unstable legs gave way.
He always enjoyed the hunt and he always chased with a sneer on his face, only when it would end in failure would it drive him harder with bloodlust. He lunged again as the fawn had fallen and snapped his jaws on its back leg, followed by vigorous pulling as with the strength he had left, tried to drag it with him. In pain, it bleated loudly, a piercing cry while to others would be heartbreaking and chilling to hear, only further satisfied his sadistic nature. The fawn had begun to kick and thrash, it broke free but not without the bucks savage teeth dragging along the rest of its leg to the hoof.
"That's alright," He had said while licking the blood left behind off his chin, "A chase is fine with me!" and he set forth after its trail.
Though he was fast despite exerting what was mostly left of his energy, his gracefulness had depleted along with it. His run was clumsier than normal, he could feel how unstable every sprint was and he knew one sharp turn would leave him in a tumble.
He chased the fawn from the ruins to the pond and the ground spit beneath him in a blinding blizzard of dust and churned up ground. If this chase ended in shortcomings, it would bring him once again to the edge of the cliff of fate.
Once caught up, he gave a powerful shove with the last of his energy into the side of the young creature, as it fell, his attempt to turn and latch his teeth on the child's throat ended in catastrophe as his hoof gave way beneath him, a fiery sharp pain was sent up his leg and he was sent in a rolling tumble.
"Agh!" He had shouted in frustration and his pelt now tainted with dirt. When he came to, he saw the fawn already retreating ahead of him once more though he could smell the agony thick like the blood that trailed behind the child. He attempted to follow but was met with more pain. Desperation and hatred overwhelmed Nemphlèx, he let out a screech fueled with his bitter and burning ferocity that he hid deep inside behind his formalities and would be only released when the caged animal in him grew stronger off his despair. He could only watch as another prey had escaped.

Was being all >:V when a stranger named Shardous came and chilled with him so that's cool...
Later on was being >:V at the pond when another stranger, Italia also chilled with him for a bit so that's cool too.
Went to the pond and a fawn had showed him a bit of attention,, less cool bc ur my diet. Took a drink from the pond then left to chill in the old oak where he stores Levant's torn feathers.

Was passing through the birch forest when he happened upon a group of youngin's, intrigued by this and possibly his next meals in the near future, he stopped to observe this group(Sindile, Levant, Jude, Allie, Nawfar).
The buck was immediately met with skepticism and aggression from the pup(Sindile) who began to bark hoarsely. A "Get lost" was tossed to the buck.
"Why don't I? Don't own the forest."
The pup spat back with a remark, saying Nemphlèx didn't own his time either yet he was wasting it. Nemphlèx curled his lip back in a snide smile, showing his teeth that had been mutated to that of a wolfs. He commented about the group, mockingly calling it a "little posse."
"A little posse, a much get out."
Nemphlèx dared to take a few steps closer, saying perhaps he only wished to pass through or was no one allowed to without upsetting their babysitting session.
A white fawn with a glitchy eye(Allie) had begun to growl in the background. The pup warned Nemphlèx to pass through the other side, threatening his face will be upset if otherwise... what this meant, Nemphlèx wasn't sure but what he was sure of, it was a threat. "I think the only one getting upset is you and your friends." Nemphlèx mentioned with his gaze flickering to the rest of the group.
That's when he saw the shine of sandy-brown wings, the same physique of the prey that had out bested him when he was nearly on his last legs. He felt his lip twitch involuntarily.
Nemphlèx felt the fact of reality became a blurring wall, all but the figure in front of him. Levant.
His snide attitude to the pup turned to poisoned tar on his tongue. Again, the pup had warned the pale buck to leave but the words were mumbled gibberish in his ears.
"Earth to crazy?" The buck had been degraded but he didn't answer, lost in his trance that the very embodiment of his hate stood before him with feathery wings of striking hues of health. His head-crest had lightly ruffled in disturbance and noticeably raised, "Him. I know him." his whisper was cold as the billowing breath of winter. Then, by the canine, Levant had been ordered to run. With noticeable fear overwhelming the being he had history with ran away. The pup said he knew him too but he didn't make a fuss about it as Nemphlèx was eerily making.
"He should've died a long time ago." This was said as he took a deep breath to relax the tensing muscles that urged him to chase and tear his lost catch limb from limb in an act of quick revenge and taking what had been stolen from him. He manages to convince himself that revenge tastes sweeter the longer he waits and he mustn't waste what would be something so beautifully sickening. He takes in the scent, remembering each characteristic that created Levant's personal aroma.
The command of the glitchy fawn in the back called for the pup, shouting. "Dog!! Doggy! Leave him alone!!"
The pale buck noticed the tension within the canine begin to mix and subside with confusion. The pup ignored the cries of his friend and said. "So should I. I still dun't see yer problem..."
Again, Levant had returned-- realizing his cowardice to flee from his friends, Nemphlèx guessed.
He grit his teeth and shifted his jaw, with a voice croaky and raspy in his throat like a soft wind, he complied. "I'll be on my way." His tone, hauntingly ominous.
Nemphlèx retreated from the birch forest and came to a stop at the ruins. He laid there, contemplating as an itch burned under his skin. A great disaster was coming. Fear never matched the itch. Would this disaster be of his own?

I'll put speech colours in later,,

A warm afternoon. Nautican had been waiting for one of these. It wasn't particularly sunny, but the clouds had parted just long enough to warm up the shallow waters some more. Seeking said warmth, the little sea-fawn wiggled her way up among the fronds of tall grasses that grew in the shallows. The shore seemed further than usual, maybe the bit of rain had filled the Pond some. She wasn't too sure. The fawn could sense other creatures stirring, attracted to the change in weather. Some hung in sunny spots while others laid out in the shade. For a moment, she watched them carefully, in awe of the leisure.

A force every creature, every living thing was familiar with had driven the pale buck from the shadows of the ruins. Thirst. His tongue smacked the roof of his mouth in dryness. Water is what he needed. He'd begun to journey through the forest, departing from the ruins when he began to admire himself and the new energy he possessed. A walk that in his worse, would've been a gruelling hell, was now a way for peace of mind.

Her big-almost-weird fawn eyes watched carefully at the land-dwellers. Speech wasn't her thing. Social settings weren't her thing. Nautican spent alot of time alone in the bottom of a boggy pond, so she didn't get alot of social time. To compensate, the child would spend her time watching others enjoy their social lives. It seemed fun. She had hoped to be more like them. For a few minutes, she pondered over this--but it was broken by the approach of something new.

Nemphlèx pale eyes through his blindfold pierced a hard stare when the Twin Gods came in view. His lip twitched to slightly show the beginning of savage teeth and his ears pinned backward to show distaste. The only thing that broke his icy glare was the pond as he approached closer. Frogs croaked and sang and little plops from disturbed water could be heard as one leaped in, leaving small ripples that would soon settle.

It was a bright deer, for sure. His bright pelt and even brighter crown of feathers was entrancing. All Nauti saw all day was stupid fish. And stupid bugs. Nothing was ever so colorful here. She admired it for a moment, not even registering his odd glance at the Twin Gods statue... until it did. What was that odd creature behaving like that for? The doe decided to do what she always did--watch from the reeds. She followed his eyes as they stared at the rippling water...if she moved, he might see her ripple effect.

He came to the barrier where the solid ground became soft mud. Nemphlèx ventured further and the mud became water until it rose to touch above his ankles. The pond was cold and refreshing, it refused to become one with the warmth of the sun. That, he admired.
His head stretched forward to the mirroring surface, his lips touched the water and it danced from the dip of his muzzle in the form of a small, wavering current. Free from his on-the-go routine from ruins to water, Nemphlèx had the opportunity to take in the scenery. The willows swaying gently in the subtle breeze, the log that laid in both worlds of ground and water, then the marshes. For a moment, he caught the sight of something rather odd, however he turned his gaze away. Then, the fact he'd caught something odd clicked and he looked once again. Nemphlèx raised his head, it stood high and alert with his ears switching forward towards the tall marsh.

Spotted. The approaching Pond visitor's head rose up like a serpent from a cave. With the buck's head rose her heartbeat. Panic swept through her. Her face burned with fear. She had been seen. Did she hide? No, he'd definitely see her splash. What if she just swam away... Could work, but maybe he was friendly. Maybe he was friendly! The fawn dropped her head low and laid her ears back. Perhaps her sudden movement had alarmed him. If it had, she supposed that lowering her stance would show him she wasn't any kind of sea-monster. Though she looked odd, she didn't feel like she was some kind of monster. Nautican figured for sure she had been spotted now.

It for sure wasn't a side-eye trick of the mind. He'd seen something off among the marsh, now the movement had proven him right. Nemphlèx felt no predatory instinct to whatever it could be. He had been filled by his last kill and it was certain it'd last him for quite a while, a few weeks, maybe a month. The tension in his muscles slightly relaxed, however they remained vigilant if it had ever proven needed. The buck approached, the sun glistening off the reflection of the ice-shards imbedded within his thighs.

Ow, she thought. Bright lights that glinted from his hind shot right into the back of her eyes. For a doe that spent most of her time at the bottom of a rather murky pond, sparkle wasn't really her thing. Nautican blinked her big fawn eyes repeatedly to adjust to the stranger's dazzle. It took her a moment to realize he was approaching her. Her instincts flared up in her. She should run. Definitely. But he didn't seem that threatening...so maybe she should give him a chance. Another streak of light flashed in her eye and triggered her flight response. The tiny doe all but exploded out of her reed hiding place and splashed unvoluntarily about.

With a jolt, Nemphlèx jumped back in surprise. It wasn't what scared him-- but how fast it had burst out. At first, he glared at the tail as it thrashed about then at the hybrid half where tail and fish became legs and doe. It appeared rather helpless, something like this would've been a gold-mine for Nemphlèx in his dire time of need but this no longer was a dire time. He would have no use for such a killing and such a waste would be pitiful. When the pale buck adjusted to the bizarre creature and understood what she was, he once again dared closer.

His eyes looked hungry, then seemed apathetic. The fawn swore for a second that she was prey, but hoped it was just a misunderstanding. The fish-fawn tried to wriggle her way in the shallow water back behind her hiding spot, but realized quickly that he was approaching. He seemed too obvious to be stalking, so she decided she was safe for the moment. "Not eat," she declared, feigning confidence. She was an ugly creature, and maybe that would deter him for the time being. "Not tasty for deer." As unfortunate as it was, she had finally settled with the poor speech skill she had. Perhaps they would continue to develop. The fawn shook her head in sweeping motions. "Not tasty." The words were followed with a curt nod. "Did not mean to scare with splash."

"I'm not hungry." He reassured although his tone of voice was of heavy solemn. His voice was like a loud whisper, it came to a rasp that ran in his throat and down to deep tones. Nemphlèx raised his head, he no longer held it low in study, but held it high in dominance. "Didn't mean to scare you either."
The buck turned his head to the left, then to the right. No parental figure was in sight. "You're here alone?"

Not hungry, he said. Not hungry, she assured herself. Not even for a second did it register in her naive mind that the answer meant that there was a circumstance in which he might eat her. His raspy voice was alien yet interesting to the child. It almost reminded her of the familiar gurgle deep in the water. "It okay!" she said, exclaiming her acceptance of his apology. His next question was no surprise to her, as she was usually quite alone. "Alone yes"

"No parents. That's a shame. You just live here? Nobody comes around?" His conscious mind hadn't sniffed suspicion yet within his subconscious mind. His subconscious mind would always be hardwired as predatory and already was marking its check for its next prey when the time comes. It must've been lonely, especially for such a young mind. Nemphlèx was alone as well, but his mind wasn't as young. For now he was contempt with his life of solitaire.

"All alone," she said simply. "Land-deer don't stay long." She shrugged some. She had had friends come and go, but few really stuck around the Pond. She was used to it by now. Fish and frogs became fast and faithful friends, and they never tried to argue with her. "Are you alone, too?" Nautican had always felt like a sore thumb, bound to the water like a helpless animal. Perhaps she wasn't alone in that truth. She spent alot of time finding out if the strangers she met didn't see her like a freak, but perhaps could share some of her tale.

He flicked an ear. "I am. Consider that something we have in common."
The buck looked at the water again. He observed the frogs. "Did you come here the same way as them? Were you an egg?" He couldn't explain his curiosity. He would've guessed himself to be aloof, but this interaction turned different. Perhaps, interesting things happen when you're not trying to eat those in front of you.

"Alone. Together," she pondered quietly. Her nervous gaze tracked his eyes as they watched the frogs. A question. One she wasn't suspecting. "Like them? No, not an egg." The fawn shook her head to emphasize her poor words. Her past was foggy to her, but she had finally in the last few months begun to remember what it was. It was an unusual tale, and she was never sure on how to talk about it, but she could sure try. "Witch," she said simply. "Made in pot, a brew."

"So you were just some cruel experiment?" He remarked in calm exasperation and added under his breath, "Another thing we have in common." but that wasn't the full truth, or at least, a clear and known truth. His origins he knew. He'd been crafted from the softness of a snowflake, ironic of how the snowflake became a murderer among the forest, but he never knew why. The buck naturally assumed the Gods had something to do with his birth.

"Weird. Together," she said. "Experiments." The word seemed odd to her. She never felt like an experiment. A witch had brewed her up trying to make some potion. If anything, she felt more like a botched project. A little too many deer teeth, maybe too few dog's ears. Perhaps the fish scales were too shiny. Nautican didn't see her own creation, but seemed to know it very well. Her entrance in to the forest was the vague part, but she never worried over it. "She made mistake," the fawn sighed. In an unsurprising lack of consideration often found in a child, she asked. "You mistake?"

The word mistake caught Nemphlèx unawares. He never considered himself a mistake. What mistake could one make with a snowflake? But now he considered it, "I don't know, but I guess I don't really know much of my existence here. Don't know why I'm here. Don't know how I'm here, but" he sighed. "I don't really think about it. No need to think."

The fawn nodded. "In common," she said sweetly. "You are here and that is how it is." Another nod. She was used to just existing. Swimming, eating, watching. No matter how lonely it got sometimes, she just was used to it. "You do what you do." A simple and concise answer that she always repeated to herself.

He squinted his eyes underneath his blindfold. "You're a little too wise for the youth of your flesh, aren't you?"
A scoff lightly grunted in his throat. "Maybe it's a good thing. There's an awful lot of stupid, not enough of smart." Nemphlèx began to step back into the water, further into the pond and jolted his head toward the depths. "If you ever want to go, you can go. You look uncomfortable on land."

He changed the subject and she barely noticed. "Very smart," she repeated with a sharp nod of her head. "I am." He made a kind gesture and she wasn't sure on how to approach it, but she tried using the same kindness-its how she liked to be. With a curt shake of her head and smile, the fawn tried to make it clear she was just fine with chatting. Deep within her, she felt a tug of fear---fear of loneliness. However, she attempted to mask it with her words. "Not uncomfortable," she stated. "I'm used to being with land deer. Do you like the water?"

"The water is my family. I am water." He found comfort within the sharp cold of the pond. Others would jump back or complain their distaste, but not he. Wherever he found cold, he ventured further inside it to search for more. Perhaps, somewhere in his mind, Nemphlèx was trying to return to the state he came in. "I suppose, water could be like family to you. It's your home after all."

A snowflake, right. He really was water. That was a shocking reminder to her. How odd this stranger was... Water was his family? She didn't feel like she was from water, too, but perhaps he had a point. She wasn't water, but she sure spent alot of time in it. And it stuck around alot longer than her witch. "I guess," she said, almost concedingly. "Water is home, could be family." It was a pleasant way to put it, like she wasn't always alone, but had watery company.

"Well, I suggest you head back to your family. I can't stick around for long." Nemphlèx felt the sun scorch straight to his skin. It made his head light and feathery and he couldn't wait for the cool of the shade to fall upon his back again-- but another reason... a fawn is a friend forbidden by his law. A herbivore wouldn't form a friendship before it snipped the unfurling fronds of a fern away from its roots. Why would he do the same with a fawn? He did it for his own good and for the fawns own good. A trusted friendship broken with teeth and death was the most traumatic, a pain so great that none should suffer such a thing before their mind blacked to the awakening and to life. He needed to survive and forming friendship with the very necessity of it would be a mistake, a mistake he didn't need to learn the hard way.

The fawn frowned. He was leaving already? She knew she was a freak of a deer, but didn't expect him to try and escape so soon, and so soon after they had bonded over things! Once again she remembered why she lived in her watery solitude and resolved to once again concede to it. Oh well, another one comes and goes. "If you must," she sighed. Wait, her family? Nauti was confused, she didn't actually mean it. She could totally live without it. And didn't he say he had water for family too? "Water not your family too?" Surely snow-boy would love the cool water. As much as she hated it, her desperation for someone to stay was too strong.

"Water is my family, but I live on land. I fell on land and I was created upon it." He peered at the sun but only for a quick second before the light seared blinding floating spots. "And I belong in the cold. The sun is not my friend."
The buck blinked his eyes in an effort to try to escape the spots that lingered. It screwed his vision and left him straining to see past the annoying spectacles of light.

She nodded, trying to understand. What a weird guy, she thought. Oh well, good chat. "Sun can dry fins out," the fawn added in agreement. "Cool pond is good for me." Once again, they were agreeing. Perhaps she'd see this odd stranger again. For the mystery he was, he wasn't unbearable to speak to. "You get back to shade then," she said simply, nodding her head. "It is safe."

He gave a simple nod of his head towards the fish-tailed fawn, "Goodbye." and turned away. He began to pursue his journey back to the ruins. The winds that ruffled through his fur as he ran brought a sweet relief from the heat. The shade brought a stronger relief and underneath it, he came to a stop. The buck sighed a relief, not only did he escape the heat but he escaped the fawn. There was no room in his heart for the young, the only room was between his teeth where they'd be devoured by his murderous jaws. Nemphlèx began to dread his next drink, often he'd journey to the pond, almost daily for a drink of the sweet cold water that brought him mercy when the Gods didn't.

A tiny smile. Like she said, he was strange, but she didn't mind him much. Nauti always tried to see the good in people. Perhaps she'd give him some space next time if he was so ready to leave this time, but once again she'd like to speak with him. Anyone could use a friend, right? At least, that was a policy she tried to follow. The fawn finally began to realize that being half out of the pond was starting to dry her out like a wrinkled leaf, so she wriggled away into the reeds, giving one glance over her shoulder at the stranger. She never even learned his name... Oh well. She prioritized her dry fins and slipped back into her pond without a splash.

The angry eye that was the sun beat down on the peryton even by the time he made his way from his shaded resting spot to continue his journey. It wasn’t long before he was panting from the heat and had ripping his feathers out meant that he would be even the slightest bit cooler, he would have strongly considered it.
He was a young peryton, smack dab in between being a fledgling fawn and a proud cockerel stag, but he already bore the traits well known for his kind; an elegant wedge shaped head with large, thin ears, a short but pretty neck, the sleek body ending in delicate hooves in the front and naked talons in the back, large feathered wings and the kind of tail that would be more fitting on a heraldic unicorn. He was a unique looking creature outside of his flock, but it was there with his extended family group that he was often overlooked, even though he was a rare piebald, they knew that this came with health concerns and besides, he was just a simple liver chestnut at that. The one unique attribute he could count on others noticing were his primaries which were such a translucent pink that one could only expect that they were put there by a fae with special concerns with the delicate hue of roses.
He truly was a charming looking creature, but not at that moment or any moment after he’d been cast out. True, he was old enough to fend on his own, but a peryton’s strength was in their flock, and now he had none. The hot forest around him seemed like it was far enough away for him to claim his own territory and no doubt there was plenty of food here, but something urged him to continue on, to keep looking and testing the air until he--
A large rock came seemingly out of nowhere and he tripped over it hard enough to halt his progress and force him to look up and actually take notice of his surroundings. Strangely enough, the air felt.. different here, almost, and the temperature had dropped enough that after a few moments of walking he was able to pant much less and conserve his fluids.
That’s when he spotted it--a pond, and looking around he saw it was fed by a stream. Eagerly he followed it until he came to a strange shaped rock where the water was coming from. Wasting no time, he leapt into the cascading water. He drank and splashed until his thirst was slaked and his body was cool enough to lay in a sunbeam and stretch out his wings to dry them. There was grass, too, and he chewed on some thoughtful while looking around from his lay-down spot. Where was he?

For his daily drink, the buck had abandoned the shadows. The sun now peered on him, its rays of heat bore deep into his skin. It reflected off his pale pelt and glistened off his ice crystals, his feathered-crested head appeared to gleam beneath it. It provoked a snarl or irritation. He hated the sun and he yearned for the day when winter would cast its bitter winds and delicate snowflakes, either gently and gracefully falling or whipping harshly in a fierce blizzard.
Each time he neared the pond or crossed its presence, he tossed a glare to the Twin Gods statue. The place where his murder had tainted the purity of their carved alabaster stones, turned scarlet with the blood spilled in the sacrifice of his victim in order for him to live.

A noise caught his attention and he cupped one ear towards it, though he didn't know where it came from or what sort of animal made it. A part of him felt it unwise to linger here, but he was so tired. His exile had been a few moons prior, but he hadn't had time to stop and rest except to sleep briefly when his legs started to fail him. Even though he knew he wouldn't be able to camouflage well with the land around him, he covered his body with his wings and lowered his head to the ground, much like a fawn would when left alone by their mother and told to stay put. Maybe the uneasy feeling would pass..

Nemphlèx had spotted the figure by the pond but he ignored it as he approached quicker. He had no need for them and no use. His stomach no longer growled a command to kill and eat and his ice shards no longer cried their colours away until they greyed. Nonchalantly, he entered the realm of the water. It’s current rippled from his hoofsteps. He leaned down, beginning to take advantage of the waters nurturing nature.

He looked up, curious now that he saw it was a very striking looking creature as opposed to something that could easily hurt him as he'd felt it must have been previously. Clasping his wings to his sides, the young peryton regarded the pale figure as they drank. With still-tired limbs he clambered to a standing position and stood watching from a distance with his head cocked to one side.

“What’s your name?” Nemphlèx spoke suddenly. His head raised from the water. He didn’t care much, but it couldn’t hurt to start conversation.

The question took him off-guard as he'd been slowly approaching in what he thought was a stealthy manner, but apparently not stealthy enough. "P-Paurus," he stumbled, voice soft with just a hint of boyishness left in it. "I'm sorry to stare, I haven't seen any life for a few nights now.."

“That’s okay. I’m Nemphlèx.” He turned his head to look at the creature, his eyes were hidden by his blindfold, however he could see through them. They hid his gaze, his spark and intention his pools of pale ice would betray.

He offered an uneasy smile. "Pleasant to meet you, Nemphlèx." There was no bow offered with his greeting, only that wan smile and a nervous shuffling of his hooves. "I'm, uh, sorry, but I just arrived here, and I don't know where I am..?" Young Paurus cocked his head at the pale one, waiting for an answer to his implied question.

“I met another like you. Had no idea where they are. I one day had woken up suddenly but haven’t caught the name of this place, but it seems to be a forest that never ends.” Nemphlèx turned away, each step splashed water away from its body only for it to quickly fall again as he began to walk.
nem hasn’t been one for conversations lately

"Oh," The disappointment was audible in his voice as he trailed after the other like a lost child. "Have you been here long? Is it safe here?"
sweet summer baby....

The buck stopped but he didn’t turn around to face the forest newcomer. He simply replied with a voice of a simple tone, uncaring and bluntly honest. “No and no.”

There was a splash behind Nemphlèx as the peryton stumbled. "N-no? What's dangerous here?" Images of human hunters, beautiful and with terrifying weapons of silver and metal came to mind. Surely they couldn't have followed him here?

Nemphlèx was silenced, but not from loss of words but of himself. He was a danger. Images of the throats of fawns catching between his teeth came and went in his mind and the blood that had been forced from his latest victim, it splashed against the Gods and it stained. “Let’s just say not everyone is fond of plant here.”

"Well, neither am I," He offered naively. True it was that peryton were meat eaters, but he wasn't exactly the kind to intimidate. so the statement didn't do much "Are there humans here?" In his eagerness his feathers poofed up and his ears cupped eagerly to catch the buck's response.

“There’s human-faced creatures here, but no humans. There’s bigger things to be concerned about.” Nemphlèx turned back around, he stared into the ponds depths and the fish underneath, their tails slapping and whisking side to side as they slithered beneath the blanket of water. “Hungry?”

Bigger things to worry about he repeated the words in his head. The largest animal he'd ever seen was a particularly large cockerel stag. It certainly was disappointing that there were no humans here, but maybe that was for the best, considering how much trouble they'd already gotten him into. Paurus whisked his tail about nervously until the pale buck spoke. "Oh, um--" A beat. "Yes," He admitted with a sigh. "Perytons don't just eat humans, but.. a fish does sound good, though I've never caught one." He approached carefully and watched the sleek forms that seemed to fly in slow motion through the water.

“Perytons? Is that what you are?” He cocked his head to the side. Nemphlèx examines the newcomer, their wings, their whipping tail and their back feet that came in the form of a birds. The creatures here were certainly strange, every one of them seemed to never belong to one specie or at least appeared to be the only one of their species... or a bunch of species combined. He was water. More accurately; water. He had been created to become fur, skin and flesh. Nemphlèx was a lie. A body was meant to be warm. Down to his core, he was bitter as winter. He took after the cold mother, he was beauty no doubt but cruelty still lie to those unfortunate enough for the bite of frost to turn their flesh black.

A breath flashed out of his nostrils in an almost silent laugh. "Yes, I'm a peryton," It was funny to think that he wasn't quickly identified, but then again.. he hadn't seen any of his kind for a long time. His ears flattened against his skull, making his sagittal crest more prominent. The thought made him nervous so he fluffed his wing feathers again and quivered all the skin on his body to release some tension. Changing the subject he asked "Uh, how do you catch a fish?"

“With patience. Stand back and don’t let your shadow fall over top of them. Maybe they’ll be stupid enough to think you’ve always been there.” Nemphlèx observed from a distance, his pale eyes flickering from the peryton to the fish. He wanted to see how the efforts would pay off.

Being told what to do felt much better than he thought it would coming from a stranger. He was learning more things about himself every day. Paurus took his advice and stepped back to stand as still as possible, eyes eagerly watching the fish below and trying to ignore the keening in his stomach.

“Don’t strike too soon. They’re the professionals of the water and they’re quick. They’ll be gone before the muscles in your neck even twitched. Let them get used to you being there and remain still.”

He nodded briefly and crouched low. The sun became hot on his back as he waited there a long time until one koi came up to the surface to gulp at the air. In a flash he jumped forward and his mouth darted out, lips pulled back and canines shining for a moment before his entire body crashed into the water. For a moment it was chaos as the water churned and wings beat against the surface as he struggled to pull himself out. But pull himself out he did, but with no fish. With a long sigh he dragged himself to the shallows and shook off before going back to where he'd been standing and crouching down again.

Nemphlèx flicked an ear. “That’ll happen sometimes. Don’t feel bad. Try catching a frog or turtle.” He nudged his muzzle towards the banks of the pond, sometimes frogs would desert the waters to come to land. They were quick but might be easier than a fish, although he hasn’t caught any himself. Turtles for sure would be easy but the hard part was cracking the shells that enclosures it’s body.

A frog would be a small morsel and a turtle was something he hadn't considered, but he was hungry enough to try. It didn't take a long time for the fish to resume their leisurely paths through the water and for peace to resume for all the small pond residents. Eventually a frog hopped near his front hooves and managed to let out one croak before his hungry mouth found it, crunched once, and then was swallowed. He sighed pleasurably as the taste of actual meat, the first he'd had in a long time. "Thank you," He breathed and sniffed out where more frogs might be. Might as well have a few more before trying to fish again.

“You’re welcome.” He tossed a glance behind him back towards the woods. Nemphlèx shuffles uncomfortably in the heat and yearned to get back to the shelter of the woods and the ruins that laid within them. “Will you be fine by yourself?”

He was almost too distracted to answer. A particularly fat frog was gobbled up before he had time to turn around. "I think so," He turned around bodily and whisked his tail leisurely with a tiny grin on his face. "Thank you again, Nemphlèx.."

“No problem. If you need me, I’ll be at the ruins. It isn’t far into the forest.” With that, the pale buck turned. Nemphlèx turned and kicked against the ground with his back hooves. It launched him into a bounce, a bounce that repeated as he bounded from the pond.

Returned to the scene of his crime days later, still covered in the evidence of his sin. He stared at the statue and the splatters on its stone. Rumbled a thoughtful growl in his throat before moving on to the pond to wash the blood off his pelt.
Afterwards, left the pond to escape the sun. Retreated to the ruins and hid in the shadows of it.

Jolos was bitter. After his long search for a new home and a new guide, he had found what he thought was home. Two twin spirits, and a peaceful forest of strange animals which resembled his new form. But he had been waiting on the two twin spirits to reveal himself, for weeks now. Without rest, food, or water he had been waiting. The two white statues seemed cold now, rather than symbols of hope. He hadn't moved for days since he had returned from getting water. He had just been lying down, watching them. Bitter, distant, and now weakened by hunger and thirst.

Hunger scored deeply and painfully, it wretched itself inside his body and the burning acids of his stomach felt as if they began to eat him from the inside. He walked with a mad-driven mind and hoof-steps slow and weak against the ground. Fear bore itself into Nemphlèx and he often contemplated if this shall be where his life will end. As quick as it started, it shall be over. His pelt no longer had the snowy glow but was rather now a dull, unkempt melancholy. At first, he stifled his hunger with rabbits but soon he became too weak to keep up with the speedy creatures, his limbs failed and quit on him and his mind was unfocused and exhausted.
He journeyed to the pond, his tongue had become baked like desert sand and begged for hydration. The road to it is gruelling, it felt he had been travelling for years by the time its embodiment, sparkling and glaring underneath the sun, appeared over the top of a hill and waited expectantly. The water urged him on but he came to a halt when something else also called to him, it called to his instincts, his curiousness and peaking insanity. A figure laid by the twin gods statue, who now, Nemphlèx stared with vexation at for daring the young buck with a harrowing and difficult start of life. The figure was unknown to him and didn't seem to budge. Subconsciously, his breathing slowed and his steps grew quieter and slower with bleak eyes hidden beneath his blindfold, observing and studying the state of this sudden presence.

Jolos felt a presence, he always felt the presence of others. But it wasn't the one he was longing for. He longed for a guide, and this presence was not this. So he didn't care. All he cared for was his longing to be guided by another greater being. Another angel, another god. His heart ached when he thought of his mother, her disgust when he defended himself, his fall from the heavens. She failed me. The words were quiet in his mind. And I failed her. His head, which he had held up before, dropped to the ground. Bitter, regret, and sadness washed over him. He stared intently at the statues, having completely forgotten the presence behind him.

They look defeated, more defeated than he. Not yet, had he been defeated, however. He still had a wildfire scorching the blue flames in his eyes. It was his body that looked conquered by the cruel affairs of life and this one came with strings attached. The last of his energy became summoned immediately once he felt the excitement of adrenaline pumping through his body. This stranger was much larger than what he'd usually take, but he was crazed enough by hunger to take such a chance. Slowly and silently, Nemphlèx stepped around the creature, pausing only when he saw his opening. His sadistic natures shall be suppressed. His sadism became angry and furthermore intoxicated his sanity and calmness-- however, Nemphlèx knew he must remain intact, as much as he can in his weakness. There would be no tortures, no wild rendezvous of flesh and gnashing teeth. Only a quick kill.
With a start, he calculated his distance between himself and the figure, before he launched with energy compacted into what he needed for his pounce. With a snarl, Nemphlèx parted his maw to flash white haunting teeth and attempted to encompass the throat as much as he could manage.

Jolos started and whipped his head to see the stranger basically flying at him. His instincts kicked in, and he jolted upwards, dragging his body towards the statues and away from this attack. "Oh god, what's happening?" His thoughts were screaming as his body lurched forward. He saw the look in the other's eyes and panicked, jumping to the statues and trying to hide behind them. Praying that the twins would have mercy and save him. But he stumbled a little, not quite adjusted to his new form. And then it hit him. New form. He had just started this life, was it going to end?

His teeth clacked against empty air and he snarled with indignation. As quickly as he landed, the agile buck whirled and followed his target. His hooves scrapped and skid but he held true to his balance and kept sure-footing. He met head-on with the stranger and with another leap, he attempted the same bite. He hoped to score a firm and good hold, what would follow would be suffocation-- or complete annihilation of a severed jugular.

Jolos heard the snarl and clack of teeth, this smaller creature was intent on killing him. It was agile, fast, and it certainly had balance. For a second he shuddered, a cold feeling hit him, a pit in his stomach. I'm going to die. He let out a horrid screech, not sure if he was asking for help or angry at this intruder. He leapt forward, his tail lashing out towards the strangers face as he tried again to get behind the statue. But he stumbled slightly, his new body was still foreign to him. His antlers scraped the statue. He had hit it, rather than getting behind it.

The body he lived in, cold to the core, now burned afire that shamed the sun. His growls repeated, fiercer and more rabid than that of a wolfs. Surely, he'd send one into hiding with its tail tucked between its pathetic legs. He still gave chase, a one driven with a strong force-- stronger than his own body. It made his heart race in a chaotic whirlwind of a tornado that would seem it would kill him. Again, he made another attempt, his scrap of energy, all of it that had been mustered for this one last chase, began to diminish. His adrenaline with excitement for the hunt turned deadly into now a panic. A scared creature was always the most dangerous. He made a dash again to his prey. Then, a feeling so gratifying clenched between his teeth. Soft flesh and skin of the throat pinched between his maw and with the rest of his power, he locked his hold on the vulnerable spot.

A scream erupted from his very soul, a sound so horrific and shattering it could stop someone in their tracks. Pain, fear, panic. His eyes burned, the light from them erupting in a violent manner. Heat. His throat was between teeth, his body was vulnerable. He whipped his tail around, smacking where he assumed the other's eyes were, kicking at the others legs. The scent of blood filled his body with fear. "Mother, why have you condemned me to this?" A scream, no longer were his thoughts internal. He tried to shake off the other, despite knowing that his efforts were hopeless. This was going to be his end.

The thrashing attempts drilled anger into his jaws and teeth, it caused him to clench and bite down with a strength he was sure was to break his own teeth. Scarlet, thick, oozing and warm stained his fur. It trickled from his mouth, down his cheeks and to his throat. It betrayed the story of murder, or as of right now, an attempt. A horrific story nonetheless of the tale that one being clashed against another with intentions of destruction. Every cruelty Mother Nature and the Twin Gods had cursed upon Nemphlèx had now been released in a vicious wrath and this stranger had now fallen victim to it.

Pain. Hot, red, flashing pain. His screams were stopped and as he felt his body dying his mind went blank. Nothing. This was it, his new beginning had come to an end. But as everything went blank, he felt something, through all the pain. A horrible tugging sensation, from his core. His essence was being torn from him. Painfully. He tried to scream, all that came from him was blood. As he stared at the stranger, he felt anger. You've killed me, the thoughts were piercing, but I'll come back. The lights in his eyes started to fade, his vision was blurry and darkening. His body, not by choice, sank to the ground, defeat. As his essence was finally torn from him, as his life faded, he heard it. Thunder. "Damn you, mother."

She was not phased by this place. Her untimely demise in her previous life was merely a door to this one. It was a belief she'd always carried with her and here it was proven to her in perfect detail. She stepped lightly through the birch, learning the powers of her new body and taking in all that she saw. It was quiet here yet burned with such brilliant energy and light. She was curious as to what she'd learn about this place and what beings she'd encounter here as well.
ok brb gotta pick my mom up from work but i'll be on after dinner

The ice-born buck with steps like a graceful dance that came naturally and as elegantly as when he would've once drift through the air which such precious fragility ventured. He wasn't exactly going anywhere... but all he could do was move. Something was pushing him, but to do what? Nemphlèx couldn't guess. A slight wind buffeted against his pale fur that falsely glowed in the light, causing his nearly translucent draping scarf to raise and flow backwards rather than hang straight off his body. Nemphlèx was thankful for the cool breeze, although the Gods wouldn't just leave him so vulnerable to the sun anymore, the sun still wasn't quite on his good side. The feminine cervidae would much rather the bone-chilling and unforgiving grip of a winters day. Relentless and callous but in such a beautiful way.

A pale shimmer caught her attention and the doe stopped, turning her eyes this way and that to find its source. She moved forward slowly, silent as a phantom through the heavy brush till she emerged. Her mismatched eyes scanned the strange feminine being before her. Though after long enough looking she could see that he was no female. Stepping from her hiding place she approached the lovely stranger. "Hello" she said, her voice deep and cordial. Adrasteia's head dipped in a light greeting motion.

Nemphlèx immediately came to a halt. A greeting caught his attention. At some point, he knew he'd have to engage in socializing but he didn't know it'd happen so suddenly. Perhaps when he wanted to socialize was never in his grasp but in the grasp of the gods and the forest, deciding when they thought he was ready to mingle. "Hello." He replied with a voice of youth, with that of a late teenager transitioning to young adult. It was smooth but also a bit breathy, adding a dash of mysterious to his persona-- depending on who spoke to him.

She watched him silently, gauging his reaction to her presence and stood there tall and proud for some time before continuing. "This place is new to me, I was hoping to learn some things about it from another though something of your scent tells me you are in a similar situation as I." she said keeping her multi toned eyes on him with a cold , intimidating stare.

"You would be correct. Arrived here not long ago." With hooves shuffling uneasily to the new experience, he continued "I don't feel helpless or lost but I don't have any information that another newcomer would be helped by."
In the back of his mind, Nemphlèx wanted to ask where this stranger came from but he didn't ask, afraid the question would be inappropriate for a first time interaction... especially if this interaction is a first time interaction with anything.

"I see." she nodded and glanced around before looking back at him with her intense eyes. "I am Adrasteia, what do they call you?" she asked stepping a few paces closer. While relationships were few and far between, she knew their value and it was due to forming such relationships in life that she had lived so long in the first place. Might as well be a good place to start with another new soul.

"Nemphlèx... or Nem for short, I suppose. Not that spectacular of a name but it's a name, right?" He gave a quick cock of his head, mimicking a nonchalant shrug. The pale buck felt he began to grow more comfortable with this "socializing" thing. A natural at it, maybe. Although he'd never admit it, he silently bet to himself he could become quite the charmer.

"Nemphlex," she repeated slowly to be sure she said it right. Her head nodded again in acknowledgement. Age was not something easily guessed here she'd found just by observing and so kept that question out of mind. "Have you seen much of this place already Nemphlex?" she questioned .

"I'm not sure, how much is there?" So far Nemphlèx had come across the pond and old oak, really nothing else he came across. The newborn didn't know whether he even seen a quarter of it, he was completely in the unknown about how large the forest was and how much he discovered.

"I've seen only the rocks and the birch." she explained. The forest seemed large as well as small. An odd paradoxical feeling for her though she did not let the concern show. "I am sure there is more" she shook an ear in the direction of a sound. It came from the drink plaats but she paid it no more interest than needed.

A quick glance was shot towards where the doe had flicked her ear, although his glance was covered by his blindfold. Although it wasn't much blinding, as he could see through it but he had to admit-- he liked the way it looked on him. Besides for looks, the blindfold served a good way to hide his emotions that his eyes could betray-- perhaps he'll need that at some time in life. "Have you interacted with one of the older residents here? By the looks of them, I can tell they've been around a while..." These "residents" he referred to were those whose bodies had paid their price in age, or battles. Bedraggled and life-worn.

"I've not, you're the first I'd met." she replied with a slow calm voice.

A gentle sigh through his nose was the only thing in reply with eyes dropping to his pale ice-blue hooves. "I guess we're both outta luck for information. You're just as clueless as I am. Maybe we have to learn on our own." Part of Nemphlèx didn't want to, the other felt stubborn with independence and courage that he'd get the information he needed on his own. The two disagreeing parts of him conflicted. One making a good and obvious point that pointers, tips and guidance from an experienced individual in the forest would help him greatly. The other, looked down upon with a raised nose, urging that Nemphlèx do it himself.

"It does seem that way." she agreed. Her eyes never leaving the other as they spoke. "What is the harm in learning something for ones self, depending entirely on others will only skew the information in their favor."

"Guess that's true. That's what's worrying and kinda-- lonely about everything. Never know who to get your information from. The other person could be screwing you over as much as the next one." It disappointed the ice-buck knowing this.

"If you let loneliness drag you down you will never accomplish anything." She said bluntly. "Learn to stand on your own four legs first and once you have your feet no one can take them out from under you."

"I'll be sure to do that." A spark of malignant fired a hardening emotion in his heart when a flash of the possible future came into view for no more than a second. A tale begging for revenge. Nemphlèx didn't want to be hurt, nor did he have intentions of hurting those he didn't need to. He could be quite the good friend if one got to know him, but it never disdained a cold-heart at the core.

"You seem intelligent, that is good you will need that in life." she said shifting her stance slightly to walk closer to the other. "I admit I was worried the beings and beasts here would be dull witted and slow but It is a relief to find I am wrong." Her voice sounded cheerful though her face remained cold and emotionless.

"Well, call me the saviour of your relief, I guess." He said coolly and nonchalantly. Taking a glance at the doe, he wondered why her face didn't match what her voice said about her emotions like two different sides to a story. Perhaps others were just like that. Perhaps they had to hide for the sake of reputation, or perhaps it was a stone-shield formed by traumatization. Whatever it meant, he didn't question the doe on it. "Are you forest born?"

"I am not, I came from another world." she replied simply. Such information had no effect on her if others new it. "My soul passed there and found its way here it seems. Another step in life."

"Live through one life then kicked into another... I was forest born. I woke up not long ago, like this." Nemphlèx couldn't recall any memories of a juvenile stage in life. He'd just been chosen and crafted as a child from winter.

She tilted her head and nodded. Adrasteia was sure there were many many more like him. "I assumed this was the case and so I am neither shocked nor bothered by this direction my life has gone."

"What was your other life like?"
How many time has this happened to others? He thought. Was this a land of afterlife? Were there more lands that the deceased went after they passed? He was sure the creatures here were both of negatives and positives, making him sure this wasn't a heaven nor a hell-- so why did others end up here? It confused the petite buck and most likely it always will.

"Does it matter?" she asked. Her life then was ended. Thinking on the past and what was had no merit to her existence as it was now.

"I suppose not, though I'm sure it'd be a great story to the young and curious." With a new beginning, he could grasp the understanding as to why the doe wasn't so eager to talk about her past life. Although, in his own scenario Nemphlèx would've told when asked, he didn't see it as a bother. A lack of understanding is a possibility for this, as the buck had only just awoken without any memory of a life beforehand-- besides his creation.

She gave a light, short chuckle. "Perhaps...though dwelling on the past is pointless when one has a new future to move onto." she said shifting her hooves and tilted her head slightly as she looked over him. He had quite the zest of youth about him, an energy she recalled having once though after life and experience it had all been chased into a very specific part of her heart. Only those most dear to her would see such a side.

"I guess without a past of your own, you want to hear the affairs of another. In my case, at least. I have no story to recall." He felt cheated in a way because of this. To have been forced into the circle of life with a body and mind of an advanced adult with no chance to be youthful. When he looked at fawns, he often envied the experiences he'd miss out on and the early relations that stick to heart for the rest of their lives. It wasn't a jealousy that would hold him back, however, mostly Nemphlèx carried on normally with calm collection and aloofness.

"Don't look at it as a bad thing." she said flatly. "You have an opportunity to make a future...which becomes a past." she said pacing to once side of him. "A past defines us but you have the mind and opportunity to define yourself without the weight of such useless information. Our life is ahead, not behind...and if there is a story there it will reveal itself eventually I am sure."

The words held a truth that gave light to what Nemphlèx thought of as an unfortunate woe of a lost childhood. Yes, it was an opportunity. Nemphlèx nodded in understanding, the movements of his head being small but noticeable. "I don't remember anything before waking up besides what I used to be, but I wasn't anything that breathed air, grew or had a heartbeat."

She did not expect an answer like that. And while it was a curious thing she pressed it no further. "You are wise to heed my words." she nodded and offered the smallest of smiles that vanished as quickly as it came. She knew very little of her past. The horrors, the joys, most of it remained but only what stood out, like a slideshow of her past life. He need not know this however. She neither pitied or envied the other. "Come.." she said turning and walking away from him, one ear angled back at him waiting to see if he'd follow.

With ears flicking forward, he gazed onward in the does direction, curious and confused as to why he needed to follow but he didn't hesitate for long. The sound of his hoof steps were almost silent as he followed, catching up to her side with the willingness to follow.

She was quiet for a while before glancing back. "Perhaps seeing more of this place together will yield more answers for us both." she explained in her round about way.

"So, that's what we're doing? Looking for answers?" With all the answers and mysterious secrets of this land, that would take an entire lifetime-- or perhaps a couple lifetimes. Maybe an infinite amount of lifetimes... but Nemphlèx knew that wasn't what the butterfly doe meant. She didn't want to uncover all secrets or answers, just answers to make basic sense of life in this world. Though the pale buck was uncaring about a normal life here, he'd like to hear answers himself-- ones that didn't come to him naturally like he spent his true newborn days and childhood here.

"If there are any." she said with bored flutter of her eyes. "Rather I am not so cold as to leave another new soul like yourself alone upon first meeting and I do believe you said you've not seen all of this forest yes?" She asked, stopping to turn and face him for clarification.

Nemphlèx stopped in his tracks as the doe turned around to come face-to-face. "No... I haven't. Only a small part of it. However, I found a peculiar statue perched atop a steep ravine with running trickling down inside it to the pond. The water came from the statues eyes... like it was crying." Nemphlèx earlier had taken a journey to the pond to relax under the shade of a weeping willow, forever hunched in a hauntingly beautiful display of depression and melancholy when he spotted an opening that led to the pond. The opening was wide and carried enough water through. Pushed with curiosity, Nemphlèx circled around the pond and then followed the streams path, the steep ravine growing thinner and tighter until it stopped in front of an ancient stone statue, greened with moss and wet from its endless gush of tears. The area was sad but beautiful. The sun shone brightly there, only to be abruptly cut off by the trees not far from the statues and radiant poppies stood proud, growing all over around the statue and the stones that accompanied.

"Let us go there first then." she said unflinchingly, "Then I can show you my finds and move out from there." she questioned with the lightest tilt of her head.

Giving a dip of his head in acknowledgement, the feminine appearing buck gave a bound or two to catch up to the does side, waiting for them to set off again.

She was silent on the walk and only glanced at the other now and then. Once they reached the crying idol she descended its slopes to get a drink.

Nemphlèx hung back, feeling no urge to drink. He wasn't thirsty. Instead, he was almost mesmerized by the statue, he stared at it long enough for its gushing tears to be a transport to another world. A world in his head. He stared with his body unmoving and his gaze unblinking and a hard stare while his mind simply went blank. Nemphlèx no longer seemed to be aware anymore, he was here but at the same time he was somewhere else far, far away that nobody else could reach the destination to besides him.

When she returned the doe stared at him for some time wondering what had him so captivated. She turned to look at the stone with him and found it average. There was magic for sure but what didn't have that here. "Is everything alright?" She asked as her gaze returned to him.

The voice felt like an intrusion on his minds personal space, a shocking halt that snapped him from his trance-like state. "Eh-ye, I-I'm fine." Though his words were stutters, there was nothing he was hesitant, anxious or saddened about. It was more because of the aftermath of his "trance", causing his speech to be muddled in the process when it was forced back to reality.

She looked at him for a long while before sighing and moving away, letting him follow at his own pace if he desired.

Giving himself a little shake, he became well aware again. Then, a question popped into his mind, "How did you feel when you came here?" in his own experience, Nemphlèx felt nothing. No bewilderment, just a drive to be alive and feast to keep going. The only thing in his few first moments of being a newbown was wondering why? Why had he been chosen to live and why something that wasn't alive at all?

"How did I feel?" She repeated the question before thinking on it quietly. "I felt as if I'd woken up, this was my life now and I accepted it." she replied. Really her arrival was nothing extraordinary to her. It followed much of her belief previously.

"So it was like a dream? Your old life, or your rebirth?" He could understand that feeling, only his was just a little different. He felt as if many days had passed by him, he felt as if he truly had a life before he woke up that day but he couldn't recall any of it. He could feel the days there, but they were missing from any sort of memory in his mind. The only memory Nemphlèx recalled before his awakening was what he was before this... just a delicate white crystal on a slow journey to the ground surrounded by millions if not billions of others on the journey with him... but none of them were chosen, and if they were, where were they? Did they awake sooner before he did? Or had none been chosen at all?

"You could put it that way I suppose." she nodded and looked forward. She then approached the playground. "I found this first." she said stopping to look over the massive boulders then looked to him for his reaction.

His ears flicked forward in a sign of amazement. The boulders were huge and better yet, created shelter. He'd ought to visit more often, perhaps even make a nest. At least he knew where he'd be able to go for shelter whenever he needed it, besides the old oak. The pale cervidae didn't reply, instead he kept gawking at the playground.

She gave a short smirk before walking up the inclined rock and rushed at the gap, jumping gracefully to the other and landing as if she had wings to aid her. She repeated this till she was on the largest boulder at the end.

The petite buck followed in effortless grace. His steps focused and careful yet quick and light, almost as if Nemphlèx planned how exactly he'd climb up these stones and rehearsed it. It came naturally to the snow-born. His mind wasn't focused on where his hooves were placed although he carried himself almost without fault, like his hooves have a mind of his own and carry him like a birds wings carry it through flight.

When he joined her she nodded in approval. "You're quite elegant." she complimented. The doe was grateful of this. Otherwise she'd have had some great trouble on her hands if he'd gotten hurt.

"Thank you. I try." But he didn't. Coming across as arrogant was the last thing he wanted with his newfound company. Undermining what he knew was a natural talent with the notion of "trying" seemed to be a good place to start. After all, he was sure that modesty and humbleness was much preferred over cockiness and narcissism.

She nodded and made her way down the slopped end of the stone then continued on to her favorite part of this new world, the silent Birch forest.

"It's beautiful here..." Nemphlèx whispered as he gazed upon the forests heavenly appearance. He appeared to be lost in the scenery but he still kept pace with the doe and his sure-footing despite his ever wandering eyes.

"Yes tis true..." she nodded, "I like this place the most" she said closing her eyes and lifting her head. Her ears swivelled to catch each sound, including that of the surprising sounds that escaped the magical drink plaats. "There is a magical spring here..you can find it through the sounds it makes and the blue mist that surrounds it." she instructed, "The water changes your shape from what I've seen, I've not tried it myself" her voice went lower. "I'm sure it is safe..." she reassured though her tone was not as comforting. She waited a bit longer in silence before pressing on slowly.

"Sounds weird and-- scary," He said with a glance around the forest. It appeared he was trying to nagivate where the Drink plaats were. "but you never know, I suppose. I'm fine with the shape I have now."

"It seems that way but it is not as much as you think." she replied. Her walk took them around the entirety of the large birch then out into the shaded side of the forest making there way toward the ruin. She stopped short when she first lay eyes on it and it was her turn to be stunned into silence.

A hum vibrated in his throat at her words. Perhaps once he got used to it, it wouldn't be much but discovering more of the forest for the first time was definitely an experience. He stopped when the butterfly doe stopped, with his gaze following hers until he caught sight of the ruins. "Are you sure?" He asked, recalling her earlier words about the forest.

"No...I suppose not..." The place had a familiarity about it even though she knew she'd not step foot in this place specifically.

"Well," For the first time, Nemphlèx took the reins as he bounded forward and closer to the ruins, only halting to turn around and say ."Let's explore." His bounds became slow walks toward the ruins, waiting for Adrasteia to tag along as he did in the start.

She moved slowly, looking at the stone, the metal. It brought back many memories for her, not all of them were kind either.

The clack of hooves against stone sounded when Nemphlèx leaped onto a broad, almost square shaped platform. The clacking continued when he used the platform as almost a launch pad to a long line of fallen wall low to the ground. Like a fawn he observed curiously until one thing struck his attention the most. Graves. With a need of a brief investigation, he dropped down from the platform and approached slowly.

She watched him then glanced at the stones. "Those that were here before are burried here." she instructed. Somehow she felt it a good time to help teach the other with no past as to what he was looking at.

"Huh..." His eyes narrowed at the stones and the carvings. "I wonder who they were, what they were.... I wonder if I'll be buried someday. I hope I get my own stone at least."

"We all will be buried someday..." she said rather cold though her tone had a distant, sad sound to it as well. She glanced at him when he added his wish to have his own stone and said nothing.

Silently, Nemphlèx jumped up another platform, taking his attention away from the mysterious stones that represented those that lived and lost. "What do you suppose happened here and what built this? And why?" Gods know how ancient this forest could be and the ruins themselves, the history they must hold. Nemphlèx was anxious to discover it, however it was unlikely he'd discover anything.

"I could not begin to even guess." she said watching him. "All I can assume is humans were here once...as I doubt deer without great help would build such a thing."

"Well, some of the deer have human faces. Perhaps something weird happened here."

"That is true, as I said I cannot even begin to guess the truth." she shrugged and looked at the stone a bit longer before looking back at him.

"Maybe it was a blessing, or a curse." In his head, he began forming multiple ideations of the wide range of possibilities. Were there humans here at some point? And were they turned into the deer you could see today? The faces ranged far from just deer though. It appeared in a variety of dogs, cats and those ambiguous.

"A curse..." she repeated silently. That surely was a likely cause no doubt. "Thinking on it too much will drive you mad..." she then said seeing the ideas whirlling around in the other's quick glances around. She almost imagined their eyes being wide though she could not see them.

"Then I can imagine how one must feel when all they can do is think. Eh?"

"Yes. I've known of many like that in my life." she chuckled flatly.

"Must be hard." The buck began jumping from platform to platform until he reached the butterfly doe again.

Where does one get such energy.. she wondered to herself as she watched them move about before rejoining her. "Yes it was quite difficult." she smirked slightly before turning quickly and leading them on again away from the ruins. It felt to heavy here for her and she're prefer to be elsewhere.

"I haven't really endured anything difficult. Besides losing my pr--" Nemphlèx sentence cut off when he realized what he was about to say. Yes, Nemphlèx was about to say prey. The buck had cannibalized upon one fawn, but failed to catch another. A bad reputation he knew he'd earn if word ever broke lose about what he'd done but it was necessary to his survival. Nemphlèx felt no guilt for it, either. He didn't gave any guilt implemented in him with this sort of thing-- how could he survive if he wallowed over every meal? "I'm glad I haven't gone through anything that tough." Nemphlèx said instead.

"Yes, it is that reason alone that living for now and not wanting the past can be a good thing." her tone flattened near the end. Her life had not been a clean happy one at the end. Not in the slightest. She envied the younger buck his exuberance and hope and wondered at what point she'd lost hers.

Life besides his lost prey was going well for him. Although usually calm, there was an underlying fear that although small-- was still there. The fear that one day, he knew, life would beat down on him. Hard. Maybe he'd lose himself in the process. He hoped not, he was just finding himself now, could he ever start from square one again? "Y'know, I'm kinda glad I don't have a past. I mean... sometimes I'd rather have one, but it doesn't seem so bad now."

"You are wise, I am glad to see that you are not as loose witted as I'd first imagined." she said glancing back at him before a loud, deep hum stopped her and caught her attention. It was then her eyes followed the massive height of the great oak. She'd heard it faintly before and seen others speak of it but this was beyond what she'd imagined it was like.

"It's great, ain't it?" He spoke when they reached the old oak. He gazed upon the trunk as well, the tree was a source of comfort for him. "I woke up here."

"Oh? what an odd place to wake from." She commented, looking him over before looking back up at it. "It is ...I've not seen one so big before."

"I sometimes sleep here, you can find openings where the bark has split and the bark is so thick that the crack itself is a shelter and not just inside the trunk."

"The hum is relaxing.." her voice dropped several registers and she moved forward to inspect the large cracks he spoke of.

He watched her with his gaze flickering every now and then to the crack he'd sleep in. A few brown feathers that resembled a sparrows laid there in a way he hoped they'd be protected from the wind. The feathers had come from his failed hunt, he'd torn them off of his prey and kept them as possessions afterward. It wasn't a big deal if Adastreia found them-- depending on the type of information she could pick up from the feathers alone. Nemphlèx felt his heartbeat begin to rise in speed and begin to thud hard against his chest. He'd be able to find at least some sort of excuse, but he didn't know if the butterfly doe would believe whatever he'd told her, in case she ever got the notion that something was peculiar.

She saw the items, glanced over them a little then moved on ignoring it all together. There was not much interest in them for her. "This hum however could get bothersome over time..." she said more to herself than to the other. "Does it not bother you?" she asked glancing over her shoulder.

"I guess it could be annoying at times... but I usually come here to sleep. The hum helps, so it doesn't really get annoying-- so far, at least." He calmed down when she passed over the feathers. He didn't have anything more that could betray how exactly he survives. He acknowledged to others that it was a heinous act but it was necessary.

"Each to their own.." she shrugged then moved on past the pond. She then settled upon the hill that overlooked the small body of water.

Nemphlèx raced after with hind legs kicking up in almost a fawn-like fashion. When he came to the rise of the hill on which she laid, he stared distractedly at the pond which an ice gaze and his ears pinning back. His hunt replayed like the suns cycle, repeatedly and a hunger began to rise once again in his stomach, the rabbit hadn't hold off his hunger long and his teeth began to ache in longing.

She sat quietly till his rumbling stomach came to her ears. "Hungry?" she questioned without glancing his way.

"A-- a bit. I'll be fine." If she'd offer to find food with him, it was definitely something that was off his menu, a menu for a desperate appetite.

She wasn't stupid, she could tell he was nervous. "I eat meat too if that is what worries you...we are not true deer here...I'm sure, at least not all of us." she said having picked up the scent of blood back the oak, the fact of the others diet however had been of little interest to her.

"I can find something later, it's no big deal." He insisted.

She turned to look at him a moment then nodded in acceptance.

His front legs tucked as he laid down on the ground. He spoke with his gaze still on the pond, "What do you think you'll discover here?" he asked.

"I'm not sure, I was brought here for a reason I am sure and that reason should make itself known eventually." she shrugged. She wasnt sure if there was a reason at all. This could simply be a middle place, or a final death.

"Then maybe I was brought here for a reason..." Nemphlèx often speculated reasons why he was alive. Perhaps for some super important god mumbo-jumbo... to help others? Something about that felt like a no, considering he'd killed a fawn a while ago and tried to kill another. The reason was still possible but it felt unlikely. Another reason he formed in his theorizing was that he was just here for no reason other than being another body tossed inside life, the cycle and the food-chain.

"If this is the gods way of showing mercy I spit on them.." she said under her breath, a bite of anger in her words. She then shook her head, "Forgive me...you are kind, do not let anything take that." she said turning her intense eyes on him. "NOTHING...." She went silent for a long pause then turned away again. "We all have a purpose...it is finding it that is the difficulty."

He wondered if the butterfly doe would feel the same if he knew about his cannibalism. Nemphlèx squeezed his eye shut almost as if he was in pain, but instead he was trying to change his thoughts from focusing on his survival that was viewed as a crime to others to-- anything else. The shut eyes opened after a second, "I wonder if some never find out who they are." the thought of someone forever searching for their true self summoned pity for those suffering in the dark of unknowing to ones self.

"Some do not...life is not perfect nor beautiful all the time..." she nodded. "It is good to know this as truth."

"I wouldn't want to live a life like that." He said with a voice growing to a whisper.

"Many never have the luxury to make such a choice...though here." she glanced around "Here all seems equal..to some degree."

"I hope so... I hope I find myself someday, who I am, why I'm here." Though he wanted to know, a new unsettling fear arose like the first spark of a devastating forest fire. What if the reason why he's here, and who he truly is, is something that of a monster?

"Good..." her ears flattened and she took a deep breath and sighed.

"Your past is troubled."

"And none of your business..." she said low and firm as she looked at him. Her gaze remained on him before looking forward again.

"Your body language tells a story that your words don't. Business or not, you tell it either way."

"You see it because I am allowing you to..." she said slowly

A chuckle of humor brought a grunt from his lungs, "Alright." he averted his gaze back to the pond. He watched the glimmer of the suns light reflecting off the pond and the warmth it brought to the forest. Nemphlèx caught the sight of a small frog perched on a lilypad in peace, unmoving besides the cycle of the vocal sac blowing up like a bubble to create his song.

"If you think on it too hard sometimes your fears will become truth meerly by your own willing." she said feeling his fear through his words. "Let it go and live..."

A hidden gaze turned to her, he was silent for a moment as he took in the words she spoke. "I'll remember that."

"Good...take it from someone who has done it to themselves or ignore me and find out how right I am.." her tone was sharp and cold, eyes focused on the deep pond, distant and angry.

"I don't exactly have a choice to ignore anything. I'll depend on learning information I don't know, especially now."

Roleplay ahead with WildflowerDeer.
Warning!: Contains violence towards a character equivalant to a child.

Besides the knawing emptiness of his stomach, his dulling pelt and faltering shine of the embedded ice-shards were signs that he needed to feed again. For now, he wandered calmly, searching for various scents or something that catches his eye. Eventually, his search drew him outside of the woods and to the pond where the suns rays beamed freely instead of cut into small sections of light where they could penetrate through the tree's canopy. As he appeared out in the open, his blank and haunting eyes covered by a blindfold in which he could see through caught the physique of what he judged was someone young, or perhaps just small prey. Nemphlèx raised his head, taking his nose away from the ground and began approaching quicker. Hopefully, this one would be the same as the last-- naive and trusting because of mere appearances.

The pond has become a favoured spot for the winged child, something about it brings peace. Maybe its the koi fish who remind him of home. He remembers Sin and Val's desire to collect a water lily from the pond and today that's what he's decided to try and do, carefully raising his wings out of the pond to prevent them becoming heavy with water. He notes the being who has appeared nearby and spooks slightly, jumping in alarm. However he quickly regains himself and offers an apologetic bow to the other. Nothing about the nearby being strikes Lev as particularly scary looking. He offers them a nervous smile and a nod as he returns to his game's in the water. Still a golden eye is watching the stranger from it's corner.

So far, so good. The being didn't seem to see Nemphlèx as a danger but he wasn't close enough to know for sure if it'd be like the last. The closer he came, the more anticipation and adrenaline began to pound at his heart and energy but he tried to keep it under control, to pass off as a calm being. He was calm, but the thrill of the hunt was still new to him. After all, this would only be his second feeding-- if successful.
Nemphlèx gave a nod back in reply to the greeting. His hoof-steps began to harden against the ground as if his legs waited for him to break into a chase and his ears began to pin back, his hard-stare although was very much there, was hidden by the blindfold.

Unfortunately, for Nemphlèx, it didn't go as well as he wanted to. Levant caught wind of Nemphlèx's off behavior and broke off into a run as quick as he could. Nemphlèx began his pursuit, not wanting to give up his fight for food. Away from the pond, both of them ran and jumped the streams ravine that connected to the pond. Nemphlèx got a good bite at the curve above Levant's knee on his back leg which tripped the fawn. Levant's rapid kicking to get back up made Nemphlèx hesitant to dive in for a bite, giving his prey opportunity to get up a run. Nemphlèx chased Levant all the way to the old oak where Levant tried to lose Nemphlèx by going inside the old oak and racing through a split in the trunk only to find Nemphlèx went around the trunk and caught him just in time, gripping his shoulder with his teeth and forcing the fawn to the ground. Again, violently kicking, Levant got another chance to escape and he did, leaving Nemphlèx in his dust. Nemphlèx didn't pursue, not wanting to waste his energy on a hunt that just wouldn't go his way. Instead, hunted a rabbit soon after which will last him temporarily until he finds another fawn.

After his first meal, his first kill, exhilaration and a full stomach returned new energy and life to his newborn body. The ice crystals embedded in his skin on his hips seemed to glow a new light and his pelt appeared brighter as well. Nemphlèx guessed these were signs he'd have to be wary of, for when his pelt grew dimmer and the ice didn't glow their magical light. He hadn't noticed or paid attention to these signs when he first awoke from his long stage of creation-- he certainly noticed now.
