Spell Saver

I play 3.31 version of the forest, and I have several characters, (accounts) but I don't want to have to get my spells back every time I switch a character (account). So I downloaded Spell Saver v2.0. But I simply don't know how to use it. xD So I just play as one of my characters, because it's a hassle getting their sets back.

But... What I'm basically asking, is how Spell Saver works and for someone to explain to me how to use it. The whole purpose of having it is for being able to SAVE sets for your characters right?

Thank you. ;u;

That's right, it's for saving your sets, and everything is explained clearly in the readme. (Just click on the Readme button) Smiling

Ah! *face palm* I'm such a fail. xD

Well. I read all of it, all of the directions, and while I had the game open in a window playing as Atticus I just went to "Save Spelldata" and said OK, typed in "Atticus set" and it said it saved both the Preference file and the spell data file. Well that seemed easy but when I closed out TEF, logged off as Atticus and then logged back in, just to see if it would work... I was naked. I went to "Restore Spell Data" and the folder was there, I "restored it" but... Nothing happened. He was still naked. I know I'm just doing something wrong. Probably something simple and stupid. ;n; Any tips on what it could be?

Thank you for helping!

You have to close TEF first

You have to close TEF first before using Spell Saver. (Don't log out first, exit the game using the white "X" at the bottom-right of the actions bar, then save your spelldata)

I was logged in as Atticus

I was logged in as Atticus and I was naked, but managed to get a random pelt (nightfall) for the sake of testing. I hit the white X and closed out of The Forest. I did the same thing, went to "Save Spelldata" and did the steps, it said it saved it. So I went back into the forest, logged in as another character, (who was naked) then logged back in as Atticus, and the same thing happened. The nightfall pelt was not there when I logged in and he was naked.

I don't log in and out every time I close TEF. The only time I would ever do that is when I'm switching characters (accounts). I just want my sets to be there like they are in 3.4. (Is that possible? We're on the same page right? xD) I'm only using 3.1 because of Atticus, who had the permadevout pelt.

I hope I'm not being a pain. I'm like this with most things, unless there are step by step directions and unless it's thoroughly explained I won't get it. :C

then logged back in as Atticus,

That's where you went wrong. If you change accounts, you must quit TEF whilst in that account, then restore your spelldata. (You might have to do that again, as I get the feeling you've saved the default set)

Changing accounts makes you lose your set, and when you quit TEF, that default set gets saved, so you have to restore your spelldata again.

... I think I understand

... I think I understand better, but, could you explain what YOU do when you change accounts? If you could tell me what you do when you change characters, from beginning to end I would probably get it. (: Again, I'm very visual, it's hard for me to understand if I can't see exactly what you're doing unless I'm told exactly. xC

Of course if you use the

Of course if you use the latest version of TEF you don't have to worry about all that. But I can understand why you might prefer to use an older version.

So what I used to do is this:

1. open Spell Saver
2. Restore the spell data for the character I want
3. Open TEF
4. Log in with the account for that character
Then, for switching characters:
1. Log out/quit the game.
2. Open Spell Saver
3. Restore the set for the character I want to switch to
4. Open TEF
5. Log in with the account for the character I'm switching to

I hope that helps.

Ah, yes! ;u; Greatly. I'll try this.

How would I save a set?

THANK YOU!

You have to make sure that

You have to make sure that your deer is wearing the set you want when you exit the game. And then there's an option in the Spell Saver to save that set. I don't remember exactly. It's been a while since I've used it.
