Pictograms: Rough Numbers pt2

This post is a continuation of my previous blog, Pictograms: Rough Numbers, which documented the use of pictograms on TEF during Gen2.

Some of you might remember my old post about pictogram numbers. It is time for an update!

47,233 is the number of Gen3 Pictos created at this moment, as of Aug 5 2013.

16.1.2012 is the day Gen3 Pictos were made available.
There are, overall, 50,625 possible combinations of Gen3 Pictos. That's 3,392 combinations left, aka about 6.7%.

That means 47,233 pictograms were created in 568 days, or 1 year, 6 months and 21 days.

For Gen1, an average of 32 pictos were registered each day.
For Gen2, an average of 71 pictos were registered each day.
For Gen3, an average of 83 pictos were registered each day.

If we go by the average numbers and assume linear growth ((read: this is a really inaccurate number)), that's about 40 days left until all Gen3 pictograms are used up.

magnanimous-- I think it hasn't been all that bad this gen considering the game's popularity. The number is only slightly higher than last gen. The main reason Gen1's average is so low is probably due to the slow first years. Other than that I believe the numbers have stayed roughly the same during the past three-four years or so.

yeah, we're running kinda

yeah, we're running kinda low. In the past 10 days about 800 new pictos were created. That's pretty crazy if you think about it.

We're currently really low on

We're currently really low on pictograms. Not sure on the exact numbers but there's only a few dozen left. I'm expecting registration to close down again either later this week or next week. Gen4? Would ToT ever close down registration completely?

I wasn`t around for this, but

I wasn`t around for this, but wasn`t registration closed when the Gen 1`s ran out?

Either way, I too keep getting duplicates whenever I go to look at pictos. I wonder if we`ll get a new gen soon? C8

Yes, registration was closed

Yes, registration was closed both times when Gen1 and Gen2 ran out. Between Gen2 and Gen3 it took about two weeks for the new generation of pictograms to be released.

That is very worrisome

That is very worrisome indeed.

I hope that if they have to come out with a new gen they can either incorporate some old things(dots/swirls/shapes) or put in some more squiggly lines/curves(Not likely but I can hope a little).

Either way it looks like gen3's coming to an end. I'm pretty happy that I stopped making picto's after a while but it does bring up some worry.

I find this quite interesting really, seeing all these numbers. I wonder if there's a way to track how many pictograms of a certain generation are active during a day/week/month/etc.

Not to be a bitch, but if they can remove old, unconfirmed accounts, they could surely bring back the last two generations worth of pictograms that are rotting away.

That said, it's really just buying time until this generation is done. Sooner or later, either registration will be closed off for good, or they'll have to come up with a new generation.

Really makes me sad that so many people registered but never bothered using their accounts.. we certainly don't have THAT many new players, not even a small portion out of the accounts made..

If you took a look through

If you took a look through the old TEF forum memberlist, there were hundreds of pages of members. I think that originally there were far more gen1s than any other generation pictograms and it is indeed a shame to see them all gone.

But it also feels sort of refreshing to have a new generation of pictograms introduced. It feels like the start of a new phase. I just hope M&A can keep up with it.
