47.811 is the number of Gen2 Pictos created at this moment, as of Oct 29 2011.

30.12.2009 is the day Gen2 Pictos were made available.
There are, overall, 50.625 possible combinations of Gen2 Pictos. That's 2.814 combinations left, aka about 5.5%.

That means, 47.811 pictograms were created in 669 days, or 1 year and 10 months.


The first Beta test was released at 10th August 2005. I am going to assume this as the date of first pictogram registrations.
I cannot find information on when registration was closed, but the oldest post about it that I found was 21st December 2009. I am going to assume from this date.


If all 50.625 Gen1 combinations were used up and if the dates are correct:

50.625 Gen1 pictograms were created in 1594 days, or 4 Years, 4 Months and 11 Days.

For Gen1, that's roughly 32 pictos registered each day.
For Gen2, that's roughly 71 pictos registered each day.



If we want to get really, really, really inaccurate, just for the sake of making this shocking and dramatic:
If every day 71 new pictos are registered, and only 2.814 are left, that's less than 40 days until all pictograms are used up.

Luckily things just don't work this way.
