It felt odd to return.
There was no ceremony.
No flashing lights no fancy magic nor any real fanfare of any kind.

He felt himself flicker for an instance before he opened his eyes and unsteadily rose to his feet.
Something was different, but he could not tell off hand what it was.

Furfur stared down at the pathetic heap of fur that was his previous life and stared in silence.
He really did not know whether the solitude was by choice, or whether his previous incarnation had failed to gain even one companion in the four months he had returned to the forest.

The forest around him was dead silent except for the lone song of the bluebird.
It was probably planned that way in retrospect.
Sometimes that being seemed to get a kick out of knowing it was the first to welcome him back.
It would never mention it at all, but there was always that underlying smugness.

He shook his coat a few times before stretching out and walking for the trees.
He was glad that the ordeal was finally over.
Not that he especially missed something from the forest, but the fact that there was another running about the forest giving himself a bad reputation as a meat head under his pictogram was maddening.

He cast his gaze upwards towards the glowing symbol above his head and tried to ignore the startled tweeting from the branches above.

He could not fathom why Atvana was being especially loud. It was out of character and strange considering the being was usually more reserved.

And then it, quite literally, hit him.
It, in this case, being the solid side of an especially healthy birch tree which he had just just ran head first into.

Furfur furrowed his brow and brushed up against the tree.
Normally he walked through them with ease.

He tilted his head and concentrated hard before passing harmlessly through the obstacle.

A flutter of wings announced the arrival of his welcoming committee and tilted his head to the side to peer up at the bauble of blue bird perched on the point of his antlers.

"I suppose you'll know what is going on then?"

The small bird preened its wing and cocked it's head to the side.
"Well they do say that a story strengthens one's character."

"That is just a figure of speech."

"As you wish."

Furfur considered shaking his head to dislodge the bird, but it was a petty and undeserved action. He turned his head towards the open clearing of the forest and set off towards the sound of trickling water.

It was the homecoming that he desired and deserved. No battles to be fought for freedom, no loud noise making or unnecessary fanfare to summon him back, nor even any kind words necessary on his arrival. He was content with the welcoming rays of the sun, the comfort of his pictogram, and the lone song of a bluebird.

It may be the end of his adventure, but never of his story. He would thrive in the forest and thrive with his new found "strength of character".

I am glad to see him return

I am glad to see him return <3 I cannot wait to play with him again within the forest.

"Furfur..." she trembled as she had awoken, spotting him. She moved to his side, leaning her head forward, touching his cheek gently before she slipped her head back around to her sitde, pulling his mask from her neck

"For you..."

I'm not sure how much he/i

I'm not sure how much he/i will be in forest though.

My boyfriend has become somewhat controlling and has pretty much decided that he thinks TEF is stupid and therefore I am not allowed to play it around him. :/

And he is here most days.
So I'm kind of fucked.

"...get a kick out of knowing..."

I got a kick out of that. > > -Loveloveloves that phrase.-

I wouldn't call it smugness. Amusement, but not smugness. Smugness denotes a sense of superiority. It feels equality. |D

As for the rest...

Flawless. "As you wish." Actually sounds exactly like it (ignoring genie references). I couldn't have said any better. o_o

o: A bluebird? I rarely see that form, but sounds adorable. X3

I loved reading this one, even aside from the obvious glee of acknowledgement.

Ahhh, welcome back, dear Furfur. And how humorous that the new-found addition to your character promotes an ability to run into trees. <3
