I love La. La loves spells. Consequently, she ends up looking far from her preferred spellset much of the time. So I'm working on drawing all of them. There's no space on her biography for all the Las and it's hard trying to explain how her colors change with her between transformation spells because she keeps certain motifs in all forms.
Deer and Other AnimaLAs, Transformations: La is often turned into other creatures, though she cannot change herself. She maintains her monochromatic coloration (her favorite spells stick; less favored spells will get shuffled off by the transformation magic) across any form that she takes thanks to the power of the Forest magic, and is black in the same places and white in the same places across different animals. When not a deer, her handprint shapes are replaced with hoofprint shapes to reflect where her heart really is. There are always hairless or featherless white circles where her antlers should be. She always maintains her voice and book-scent.
SpelLAs: Even without the black and white, hands creep into the designs of anything that gets cast on La. In antlers this usually means fingers and hand forms while the shapes appear on her pelt. It's more subtle in some spells than others but those hands seem absolutely impossible to shake. Not all are finished.
Peacocking is a favorite prank that people like to play on La, probably because they know she'll be a good sport about it and because she sleeps so often and leaves herself open to hijinks. It brings out her fancy lady side and her attention-desiring side.
La luchadora! This remarkable mask was given to La on October 30th, 2014, by the God Auriea after La found her and nuzzled her. La considers it a symbol of her faith and devotion to The Forest and believes that it was given to her as a sign that she should take a more leaderly role, though she doesn't know how to do that.
She likes to wear the mask with candles in her antlers and a red pelt from The Crying Idol.
All NaturaLA: La is a perfectly normal TEF Deer (except that she is female) underneath her spells.
Well, she does retain some of her handy motifs... I guess that's not quite normal. You might not notice them unless you were really looking for them and knew what they were supposed to be--many Forest inhabitants probably just see splotches. Her default antlers are perfect for holding onto things like candles and flowers and anything else that any pranksters want to stick in there.
FLAwn: No hands here. Oh, wait, nevermind, her little fawn spots are teensy hands. They weren't when she was actually a fawn before her obsession really took root, but these days when she uses magic (or her Glitch Skull does) to be a fawn, they're there.
Oh my god this is fantastic. I long considered doing something like this -- except without the code, because that just seems beyond me -- for Seed, since he has those woody bits that adjust to different spells being cast on him, but I am super impressed by your ability to follow through and actually start doing it. I will watch this forever.

I think my favorite is the crow. And the human is just fun.
Y'all should give it a go if you have the time, it's a lot of fun playing with the in-game stuff and seeing how it can be interpreted from the game. There's just so much pretty stuff it's hard being confined to one look.
Seed and ben both have such potential for dynamic change, I'd love to see what this would be like with them. I also tend to imagine that spells are never quite the same twice. It's a good thing we can tell each other apart by pictos.
This might just make me get off my butt and do so! I just need to find a good "default" pose I can easily manipulate to show off all the different effects; there are some, like the default "magicless" look that I've put a lot of thought into how Seed looks with it (his usual design is his look with his saved in-game spells, of course), but less so with other features. I bet his woodgrain changes color a little, ha ha.
I can buy magic looking different each time. It's a lot of fun to think about how all this stuff works and interacts.
Do his antlers grow different every time he gets spell'd? Or he could have knots in the wood in different places too and different antlers could even be like different species of tree. Agh I'm a bundle of ideas.
Hm, I think it depends on the antlers; since I see spells as being able to alter things pretty heavily, I see that some antlers would not really show a lot of sign of the whole "tree thing," though I think some would. I know that his default antlers are leaves, no flowers -- like he's sneezed them all off or washed them away. I think how like a tree, and what sort of tree with what sort of growth, would depend on the antlers. More natural antlers would be more tree-like, less natural-looking ones would be less tree-like.
...Oh, man. The giant antlers need to have some sort of world-tree look to them or something, or like a forest in winter.
The wooded sections have a few themes, but do change to better suit the position he's in. Masks are usually unaffected, I think: I might even keep them off, so I could more easily show how the designs on the different pelts interact with his face.
I am so doing this. I just need to find a "base" to start with. Also, time for art. I like the spell-Las, though.

Soli that's coool! I always thought La was the only one who did this but sometime she and Sonali should go be strangely colored birds together and sit in peoples' antlers all decorative like. They can flash their fancy wings and shake their tail feathers at all the jealous birds who see them. B)
