Hello! Been a while since last time, Rothrust was made in secret so no process pictures of him here
Well, I do have process pictures, but that's a bit after the fact now!
But we do have a new project to show off! Working on
Keepiru's Brook! He's going to be a simple doll, and the first one with resin eyes. I've been a little slow with process because work is getting more hectic, and of course easter. But here we go, first update.
23-04
The head is getting the first basic apoxie layer. From there on I sculpt on the details. One resin eye put in to show what that's going to look like! It's cast by me, painted on the back so the eye dot follows you around. I'm very happy with the outcome myself. But it is a lot of sanding work, which is dull so the other eye is still in it's little cast. It'll come out soon.
Second picture is the fabric that just arrived! Camera did not want to capture the colors very well, just look at my glowing fingers. It's really cool, one is a short black fabric with a green sheen, and the other is a very long haired green fabric that's also pretty shiny. But this picture makes it a little too light.
Third picture is my unsanded, unsculpted, freshly carved hoof base. One out of four. They need to be sanded and get a first apoxie layer.
Tomorrow I'm free so hopefully I can get to work on the head further! Most fun part if you ask me, ALL THOSE TEEETH
13-05
Ahh, the shaame of how long between these updates are. I had an allergic reaction to the apoxie I use and had to let the rash calm down for a little while. So now sculpting is a lot slower to keep that in check. Some other rushed projects had to get in-between and blabla, I'm trying to get back on track! His other eye is now being sanded, which is the worst work argh haha.
Hooves are pretty much at their final stage, this guy needs a mass amount of sanding and some corrective sculpting left and right. Then hopefully sculpting is done! Did also just order a new pot of clay because I am nearly out. It's still the best stuff regardless of my allergic reaction. It's so expensive though :"D
Also, that keyboard; It's washable. Best investment ever. If you're like me and your worktable is also your desktop, lunch-corner and everything inbetween, nothing is as amazing as giving your keyboard a wash at the end of the week. Makes me realize how filthy the ones I couldn't do that with were. Hoboy.
25-05
Clay parts are pretty much done! I sculpted the little hangers from his horns, those have to dry now. I think they will look cute. His hooves are really neon green :") Took me about six layers of paint before it started to get that way. They're not as ohgod-my-eyes as in the picture, there just was no way of capturing them right. They look better in the background of the second picture.
He uh. Came out a bit big. Of course :"D...
30-05
Test pattern left, you can see where the short fur will change into the long fur. I just really felt like I needed to test if the head would fit inside the hole. And it does! Suprisingly well even, usually I have to add an extra triangle to get things to fit. Only thing that annoyed me was the butt. As you can see, it isn't perfectly round. Test patterns are good to find out about stuff like that and fix it before ruining your actual fabric.
All four legs have been sewn, not filled yet or jointed. But figured I could attempt to photograph them again. NOPE. The desk they're on is actually dark grey, I don't know what those neon green hooves are trying to do, but it looks like whenever a camera points at them, they just go PWOOF white.
You can atleast see the hints of green in the black, shorter fur. It's like a green sheen, and dang is it soft. The long-green fur is terror to work with compared :")... It's like 10cm/4 inches long hahah.
I was originally only going to work monday this week, but got a few days extra. But I hope to finish him pretty soon! Still got the hangers to go, and definitly gonna try my hand at his lil lantern XD
6-6
I don't know why I'm even showing these shamefully bad pictures, I'm pretty sure I even had my finger near the lens in that last one or something. ~Mysteriously misty~
He's very nearly done now! The doll itself is, he even has his little horn hangers, but now it's time for the lantern. I don't think I'll be able to make it light up, but I'm determined to try to make somewhat see-through windows with either transparent polymer clay or this cool meltable plastic I bought.
He's also proof that these just keep getting larger. Stretched out from hoof to hoof, this guy is nearly 50cm/19 inches long. He's hefty, but keeps his head up way better than previous dolls due to some pattern changes. Gotta keep learning. I swear though I am shrinking this pattern or they are going to cost me more than they earn me XD
17-06
And he's finished!

hey there - i have a
would you ever be willing to make a horse plush (with or without clay for hooves and with or without wiring, whichever would be easiest or even possible)?
not for sure, just a question to explore possibilities
(i can provide a picture of the horse id like you to make if i do decide to go through, if that would help?)
thank you!
Thanks everyone! Din: Why
Din:
Why not? I've never done a horse face before, sculpting wise, so I couldn't offer examples of that. But I started somewhere with deer faces too. A horse-face as just a plush I could do. Frankly, I am up for trying anything! Experimenting is fun. But I suppose with a horse, especially if it's realistic, the pelt might be tricky? I am not that experienced with my airbrush yet, so perhaps what the horse looks like might play part in it all. Otherwise, I mean, a horse can be done. Could do many things with it! Poke me sometime regardless, I'm curious now!
i will! shes pretty simple.
one, two aand thr/ee
