Will develop as she does!

Not very good at making friends. She sees herself as an oddity, and fears no one will like her.

Very quiet. Hasn't spoken very much.

Timid, yet curious. Growing to be more extroverted.

Nautican is the result of the unfortunate matching of an aquatic creature and a run-of-the-mill deer. She bears the front half of a deer and the rear end of a fish, making her quite the awkward mermaid. Her fur is a thick double-coat that often feels oily. The oils in her fur allow it to remain waterproof and trap in warmth. Her coat is light blue on top and white on the bottom, separated by a thick dark-blue stripe that runs the length of her deer half. Her tail is covered in smooth, iridescent scales. Oddly, though, it comes to the point more similar to a whale's than a shark's. Nautican bears odd, un-fitting pink hooves that don't seem the best kept for walking on the ground.

Relationships will develop as she does.

hey, hey, tossing my little

hey, hey, tossing my little energetic salad child at her

It was....snowing. Ird hated snow. There was...a golden fox.... - no. Best not to think about that, about them, about her. It didn't matter anymore. They were....gone. But Ird wasn't. And that right there was sure something right? Yeah it was. Really something. It tries to take Its mind off of the times before when It was warm, when It Kept others warm. But that too, is over. It no longer carries the willow branches and poppies on Its tines, Its pelt is no longer mossy and the blood of the forest no longer flows through Its eye sockets and down Its face.

Things have changed. Snow or not, there's a job to be done - and the Idol Spirit resolutely goes about Its rounds, checking in with flowers and telling the grass the snow would go someday. The forest is usually sunny after all. Ird mummers as It winds around the pond's bank, sometimes stumbling and falling due to Its blindness but It does well enough.
Oh, I'm just a girl, trying to find a place in this world.

A ripple in the water, the

A ripple in the water, the tiniest splash. The little fish-fawn's ears perked up. What was that sound? Nautican circled around to face the sound's source. The chilly water lapped at the fur on her body that was not submerged. However, the water's chill didn't seem to bother her much. First, her eyes had to adjust from the blinding shock of the snow before they focused in on what she had assumed had created the sound. She saw a creature recovering from a mild stumble and cocked her head. What was the creature doing here? Nautican, a bit scared, moved slowly towards it. She noticed that it had no eyes, and was shocked that it had arrived here at all. She didn't want to spook it, so she called out in the tiniest voice, "Hello."

It hears the water splashing

It hears the water splashing but ignores it, figuring one of the pond koi are having a splash. The vague sense It gets isn't dissimilar to a fish anyways. It continues on Its way, pausing to carefully prod a frog with Its nose. The voice manages to take the Idol Spirit completely by surprise - Ird lets out a startled whooping noise and nearly face-plants. "Oh woah! You're in the pond!? Are you alright miss?" It exclaims, scrambling part way down the bank before giving that up as a bad idea. "Hi!"
Oh, I'm just a girl, trying to find a place in this world.

The question perked the

The question perked the little fawn's ears right up. It answered her! "Supposed to be in pond!" she cried. "I am all right!" Her little head nodded up and down vigorously, a wide smile on her face. Concern then followed as she remembered the strangers fall. Nautican's head cocked to one side, and she then noticed it's hesitation to come closer. "No water?" Then she looked at its face again and remembered--it had no eyes! She thought for a moment and then called out to the stranger: "I come to you." The little fawn splashed to the shallower water and hoisted herself awkwardly up onto her two legs. This would be difficult, but she was determined to make a new friend.

"Supposed ta be! Oh!" It

"Supposed ta be! Oh!" It calls back, inching a little bit closer to the water. It'd love to come running, splash around in the shallows like before but - It had never learned how to swim. And now with It being blind....better be safe ya? "Ird cann'na swim - not at all!" It admits, ruefully shaking Its head. "Never learned ya know? An now can'na see so - better not try right?" Then the other said that they were coming! Oh! "But if you're supposed ta be in the pond - will ya be okay if ya come out of it?" It asks with concern.
Oh, I'm just a girl, trying to find a place in this world.

Can't swim! The little

Can't swim! The little creature was shocked. How unfortunate this stranger must be that they could not swim. Nautican loved the water. It was cool on hot days and kept her safe from the dangers of the forest above. How could someone live without ever getting in? That aside, she awkwardly hopped over to the stranger on her two poorly-balanced legs and smiled. "Will be okay," she said. "Not first time!" Ah--she hadn't even introduced herself yet. "I'm Nautican--Nauti to friend!" The little sea-fawn looked around at the shallows and shore around her. "Why here?" The question was simple, but she hoped the point came across in a more inviting way than interrogative. Unfortunately for Nautican, she hadn't quite grasped much grammar yet.

It nods at the other's

It nods at the other's reassurances but still can't help feeling a little nervous. They sounded pretty young, and doing something more than once didn't make things safer. Ird had died twice - and that had been just as dangerous both times! It's face is pointed more - or - less in their direction, maybe hovering a bit other their head. "Nautican! Wow, that's a real nice name Miss - Nauiti!" It exclaims, nodding vigorously as It does so. "[=yellow]Ird's name is Irdlirvirisissong - but everyone calls Ird, Ird. It's easier to say, yah?[]" The question makes the Idol Spirit wrinkle It's nose, a frown falling across Its face. Ird shifts uncomfortably for a minute as It considers an answer. "Well Miss Nauti, Ird is here in the forest and has been for four years or so now - all 'cause Ird died. Twice." It sounds mildly annoyed by this, like dying is some small inconvenience. "If ya meant why is Ird around the pond all'a the day - Ird came out of the Crying Stone! Yep! Just kinda got remade and came out there. Could see back then but couldn't leave the pond. Now can leave pond but can'na see - so stay by pond anyhow."
Oh, I'm just a girl, trying to find a place in this world.

Nautican shifted slightly,

Nautican shifted slightly, blushing in embarrassment. She was shaken by the annoyance in the newcomer's voice over it's own death and felt sorry for it. "I sorry I ask and I am sorry you died," she said. "It's nice to meet you--Ird!!" The two-legged doe did an awkward, poorly-balanced curtsey and smiled wide--even though the blind friend could not see it. "Thank you for liking my name." She pondered a moment over the idea of the fawn not being able to see, but now being free of the pond. Nautican was rather baffled on how to help, as she was rather stuck with the Pond. "Maybe we can try to explore...together? I help around Pond!"

"Ah, well Ird has done it

"Ah, well Ird has done it twice now - you kinda get used to it!" Ird chirps, smiling slightly, It hopes It's looking in the right direction! It thinks it is. "Well it is a very nice name miss Nauti!" The Idol Spirit listens carefully to the suggestion then nods vigorously. "Sure! Ird knows the outside of the pond real well - bet you know the inside real well! You ever been inside the Crying Stone? Ird has a garden in there! Wanna see it? You can even come up in the stream!"
Oh, I'm just a girl, trying to find a place in this world.
