"...thoughts here...."

November 12th, 2015

Yes, I guess I can say I'm gone now. It's been 4 months and I've looked at this site maybe twice. I have absolutely no desire to go into forest anymore. Herla and my other characters are alive and well, though they don't live here anymore. I'm as happy with them now as I've ever been and feel much more satisfied with my creations since removing them from this place. I used to think that would be hard or impossible and if I left, I'd lose them. I laugh now at that, the best way out is through as they say, and then you wonder what all the fuss was about in the first place.

Health challenges continue, and part of that is minimized computer time since it aggravates my conditions to sit and type and look at screens. After a decade dedicated to digital art, I pretty much exclusively do traditional art now. Loving my Copic markers. It has really helped me to find alternative creative outlets like the Ball Jointed Doll Hobby. Starting to sculpt and sew too.

Please don't leave messages here, I'll be unlikely to see them. If you wish to contact me use the email below.

Please do not ask for any of my pictos.

The pair follow the other doe

The pair follow the other doe to.. Well wherever, apparantly. Gehirn had no clue anymore, they seemed to jump around like crazy. Finally they ended up at a collection of trees. "Where'd that lunatic go now." The giant mumbled, his eye falling on some hole in the tree. "Oh more trees with holes? Good." He rolled his eyes. As if he was going to let Herla crawl in there with Quadda. "So are you going to tell what the problem is now or what?" Losing patience.

((lol Rhhya you page stealer you! ))

Herla followed the other doe, losing her a few times in the darkness but catching up again several time as they’d moved through the darkness. Finally she caught up to Quadda with Gehirn in tow, and saw that the other doe had gone underneath what appeared to be some thick undergrowth, with the expectation that Herla would follow? At that the feathered doe balked, clearly anxious now as she shifted on her dainty blue hooves. She didn’t mind tight spaces, but she did mind tight spaces with an unknown surprise in them. It was very dark behind Quadda as well, even if she did go in there it was unlikely she’d be able to see anything, how was she supposed to help something if she was blind? Yes, time for you to tell us what you’ve got,” she echoed Gehirn’s sentiment, ”We’ve followed you, but I’m not going in there until you tell me more.” Ruby eyes narrowed, waiting for a reply.

Quadda to looked startled and

Quadda to looked startled and stepped back. It's been a long time since she had seen him up close and forgot his real size. Hypnotized watching him for a moment, as if seen for the first time before they shook and took one step back and then 'wake up' and looked at Herla and took a deep breath.

"That's... what's inside... I do not know how to describe it. It's not a creature, which we know or do not know which, but it's alive... and now it dies. Yet I do not know how to help it. Water not help, sun or moon light not help... perceives it but feeling it pulls something hidden inside all of us - and what is not to be hidden... From something that draws energy without it, without being robbed someone... But now that the energy lost and with this comes the loss of life..." explained Quadda jerkily. It was not a very good speaker in hectic situations and still trying to maintain a cool head. "Can you please go inside, Herla? Maybe you help more than I do. I believe it..."

For a moment she looked at Herla, before she turned and went back through the narrow young trees and bushes.
Mis's picture

Gehirn frowned at that

Gehirn frowned at that explanation. "Yeah, right." A colossal hoof set down in front of Herla, between the hole in the tree and the doe herself. "I don't think so. Herla is not going to crawl in there with you to save some vague monster. She works medicine, not miracles." He was clearly put off. How many more creatures was this odd forest going to spawn? "I think it's time we leave." His gaze turned towards Herla. Of course, he was not going to order her around. It'd be her decision too. For a moment he turned back to Quadda. "Can't you drag it out in the light?"
Sighthoundlady's picture

Herla’s ears fell back at

Herla’s ears fell back at Quadda’s description. This wasn’t a deer. Some sort of creature? Seemed she was saying it fed off the energy of others? That didn’t sound very safe to her. Seemed Gehirn held the same opinion as he positioned his hoof to block her going inside.
“I’m sorry Quadda, but this all sounds a little strange to say the least,” Herla had become a careful doe for many reasons. Impulsiveness was for youths. “I want to help you but yes, can it be brought out here? At least there is some light from the moon? she frowned, clearly not wanting to go into the dark hole with some unknown creature within. She’d fit, but Gehirn most certainly would not.

Quadda shyly withdrew when

Quadda shyly withdrew when she asked if she should bring out. She hesitated. It was wise to do such a thing? She knew it was not a problem, bring it out, just very scared... What if something goes wrong? What if someone wants to do harm? She looked alternately at both. She acted as if she saw them for the first time and she was just some quiet pet hidden away from anyone else.

"Whether he goes a little further..." said her condition and slowly backed into the darkness. Something rattled and rustle before Quadda appeared again. In the mouth it held a kind of twisted flower. She went straight to Herla and after eye on Gehirn than that "something" put a bit before Herla. It was actually a flower, just weird twisted when she was holding. But when Quadda dropped her to the ground, one part of the stem is stretched and its roots are put down again into the country, only flower lay. Its stem jerked several times as she tried to pick up and there was a strange, very subdued clinking sound. Quadda silent and look at flower.
Mis's picture

Finally the doe was going to

Finally the doe was going to work along. He was slightly curious about what she'd drag out, of course. After all this build-up and tension, perhaps it'd be interesting.
Then he saw her drop a flower. And couldn't help himself. He snorted loudly. "Hahahaha! It's a plant! It's a damn plant! What do you think Herla can do, water it for you?" He couldn't stop laughing. What the heck was she thinking? "You do realise noone can help a plant right? Hahahah! Oh man this is hilarious, great story to tell the guys."
Sighthoundlady's picture

Herla’s tension eased

Herla’s tension eased slightly when the other doe finally agreed and went back to bring whatever it was out so they could see it. Her brows certainly did raise quite a lot when what was brought to them turned out to be a flower.

She couldn’t help a smile of amusement at Gehirn’s reaction to this, but Herla was far too polite, so she quickly schooled her features when she looked back too Quada and her flower. It obviously wasn’t a normal plant, normal plants didn’t move like that sending roots back into the ground once uprooted. Normal plants didn’t move at all in fact. Well not that quickly. A magic plant of some sort then. And that could be tricky. Possibly dangerous.

“I’ve never seen anything like this,” Herla admitted. She did have extensive training in plants used for medicinal uses of course but she was no horticulturist. The plants she used where wild growing and she harvested in a way that was sustainable but she did not treat plants. She treated deer. “But as Gehirn says, I don’t think there’s going to be a lot that I can do,”

Herla lowered her nose closer to the flower, but not too close to inspect it closer. “Perhaps it does not like being in a cave so much though.”

She looked at Gehirn almost

She looked at Gehirn almost with tears. She was that his laughter hurt her, as if laughing at someone she liked... Shook and looked at the plant. "Something about this plant I know, but not quite all... She does not live with the sun, neither of the water. Neither does not live in the country. Lives of energy..." she said. Her voice lowered briefly...

Who knows what happened, but something inside plants began to glow softly. Quadda eyes lit up a bit. Sep slowly gathered strength as well muffled clatter that sounded. Margins flowers began softly lit. Glow gradually grew and it was seen that putrid color of plants is changing and gradually returned to its plant life. Plant petals suddenly twisted inside and the plant will slowly straightened. Very slowly. However, once got into an acceptable position, suddenly its petals suddenly parted and the world launched a blinding reddish glow that gradually faded. Everything around is cleared as at sunrise and then slowly pulled back light to flower. Echoed a quiet tinkle when one of their number plant emit a small white lights. Around the plant remained faint pink glow.

Quadda a while back and it apparently took to respond, before suddenly squatted and jumped joyfully into the air. "It's brillas! I knew it! I knew it!" and cried every time he fell, again all four bounced.
Mis's picture

Amazing, now it did a light

Amazing, now it did a light show! But it seemed Gehirn's patience quickly faded again, his laughing stopped. He just looked annoyed. Now it had a name and Quadda was jumping. "So what on earth did you need us here for? We have better things to do than to watch you and your magic flower." The giant sounded annoyed. "Seems it's fine now, can we go? Before I accidentally step on it, preferably." "Accidentally", yeah.
Sighthoundlady's picture

Lives off energy? Again this

Lives off energy? Again this just sounded troubling to Herla, she was not too keen on a plant that might try to take her energy. Or anybody else’s. The sudden light show had her backing away with caution now, maybe it was going to leap on her face and attach itself like a leech. Quadda led her here to become plant food maybe.

Quadda seemed to suddenly know what kind of flower this was. Herla’s ears pinned back again and she looked at Gehirn who at this point was understandably put off as well. “Yes, well it does seem to be ‘better’. I’m not sure I did anything, but it seems you know more about it then me anyways. Be careful though. Mysterious glowing plants may be dangerous. ” Unknown magics were always pause for concern. Herla backed further.

"It's brillas!" she said

"It's brillas!" she said enthusiastically and stopped. "When she first lit up, I was scared that it's one of erchibres, I was not sure, but as I see it is not. Unlike her sister - erchibres - she can empathize with the feelings and copy that transform her life. Lives of the good things about herself. Otherwise it is just another jewel among plants.

But about brillas no one knows too much. Grow so few and rare... One in a thousand years to few years of any such plant appears and then disappears." she said and looked at them and slowly motioned to plant. "Herla... Please, accept this plant as a gift for you... and your family."
Mis's picture

"So you knew everything about

"So you knew everything about this weed, and still you drag Herla over? How considerate." He sighed. God this was getting boring. He was already turning to leave; his family was more of his concern than this flower. He didn't really understand the whole story of it being rare or having an evil twin. However that worked for a plant. He rolled his eyes again. "Why do you concern yourself with us. Not sure if I trust that thing either." But, it was for Herla, he was mainly ignored in this conversation so why not keep it like that. Plants and herbs and whatnot were her thing, not his.
Sighthoundlady's picture

Herla found the whole

Herla found the whole explanation a bit odd as well. Quadda apparently knew all about this flower and its properties and there had been the possibility it could have actually been an evil flower? And Quadda had wanted her to go into a dark cave after it, not knowing what might have happened? She frowned.

Gehirn was not as subtle in his displeasure and she couldn’t blame him, she wasn’t sure she trusted the strange magical flower either. Nor did she like seeing her loved ones put at risk. She looked to Gehirn and back to Quadda, letting out a sigh. The doe meant well it seemed, just perhaps ill-considered in how she went about it.

“I will take the flower if you so desire,” it was rare apparently and potentially had an evil twin, who knows what that did, “Perhaps I can find something of it in my books,” and in the mean time it would be kept someplace hidden so she could study it in relative safety…and away from her family in case it could bring harm. “Is it harmful though Quadda? You seem to know so much about it, if there are any risks, would be nice to know what those are.” she certainly would like to know what the evil twin sister might have done too.

Quadda looked at Gehirn. She

Quadda looked at Gehirn. She had no reason for him to answer, she beneath his words felt like a fool... "Why do not you believe me...? Why?" whispered anxious.

When Herla spoke, she looked at her. "Try to learn something about brillas." nodded. "And then, tell me if you know something that I have not known. Brillas is truly unexplored plant and also legends and beliefs - and some of my experiences - all I not know," she replied.

"Risk? She left me a sign, that you ask that?" she said confused, and finally smiled, very gently and tired. "When you're going to take away, take it easily. Their roots she withdraws and allowed to voluntarily pull. Did you know that you will find a place for roots alone."
Mis's picture

"Why? Because you and Herla

"Why? Because you and Herla have never been on good terms, why the heck would I believe you're now suddenly so cosy with her? This is all quite ridiculous to me." Ugh, really. This just seemed like an ass kissing attempt to him. He wasn't really fond of those. "I'm going to make myself useful, you know, coaxing our son out of hiding. Perhaps talk to my daughter about what happend. I really don't give a damn about your plant." Yep, he was grumpy now. There was no reason for her to suddenly be nice to his mate after all they had gone through. He didn't trust it. Not when knowing who Quadda showed her face around. The stag walked away, not even bothering if Herla was going to follow or not. If she wanted to put up with this; fine by him.
Sighthoundlady's picture

“Gehirn is right Quadda,

“Gehirn is right Quadda, every one knows you and I have never gotten along very well,” her brow furrowed, “He’s concerned and has good reason. And you have to admit, this is a bit odd. What if this flower had been in fact the evil twin sister? Would it have harmed us?”

Herla observed the flower, she really wasn’t too inclined to pick it up at all, too many unknowns still. Perhaps she could leave it here for now. She looked to Gehirn, they had been looking for Johan when Quadda had approached telling her someone needed help. So she had allowed herself to be pulled away. Like him, she was worried for their son also and that was definitely more pressing then a plant. A possibly dangerous plant. This was no medical emergency. Her family came first.

So she backed away and inclined her head to the other doe, “My family needs me right now and that is always my top priority. The plant seems fine now, I’ll leave it here for now, perhaps return when there are not other more pressing matters I must attend. Goodbye Quadda.” and the feathered doe turned to follow her mate.

When he was far enough

When he was far enough Gehirn, she looked at Herla. "Once I told you that you're still family to me, even though we can not see me happy, Herla." she said softly. She was apparently their words quite paralyzed. When Herla left, just quietly watching for it. "I would never hurt you or your family... Would rather die for you..." she said. Still loud enough to hear it, but rather it belonged only to the silent spiritual ideas. "Goodbye, Herla and say hello from me for your children..." she called to her voice trembling and guarded them until she lost in the dark, before she turned and climbed into hiding place.

Caden huffed along behind the tiny fem, hauling his bulk through the forest, somewhat clumsily. When he at last caught up to Buttons, who by now had already approached Herla, he paused, catching his breath. His saturated blue gaze rested on the beautiful medicine doe, the familiar cool colors of her pelt and head crest a gentle relaxation for his vision. Of course, that was, apart from those omniscient, fiery-red eyes that seemed to delve into one's very soul. If they weren't so intimidating, the raven stag would say that they looked like those of a tree frog, which inspired a smile to cross the brute's countenance.

Caden shook himself to regain his composure; the importance of the reason he and Buttons were here in the first place returning. He watched the two talk, and wondered if he should go back to where StarScream lay injured, or if he should stay and add to the conversation.

The petite black doe looked

The petite black doe looked at the two deer standing before her. Buttons was an acquaintance she’d known for some time, not closely but usually in groups, the other doe was small also and entirely non-threatening. Herla had no reason to be wary of her. But when the large stag arrived, Herla was a bit more uncomfortable, she’d met Caden when she’d been mid-wifing for Flail, friends of the family apparently and she’d never quite been properly introduced. She remained reserved, nodding her head in acknowledgement of the stag but turning to Buttons when the doe spoke and keeping her attention directed to the doe. She found herself confused though.

She’d been picking up a few supplies as Button’s spoke but then looked at her, brows raised, “A robot? Is that anything like a magical flower then?” she’d already been led to ‘treat’ a flower that week. She scowled. Maybe she should get Gehirn or Ciel to escort her again. “Is this dangerous Buttons?”
mismatched's picture

When Caden sensed the

When Caden sensed the discretion the doe carried, as she acknowledged him with a curt nod, he lowered his head carefully, as not to make her any more uncomfortable than she already was. However, when Herla replied with such innocence and seriousness in her tone, but with the words 'magic flower', he could not help but snort in amusement. Surely, he didn't want to have the others shun him, but he just couldn't hold back.

In order to save his reputation, he quickly answered for Buttons, "I don't believe that this robot is a threat...but I have never seen anything like it in the forest. I don't think you should have to fear though, Herla, he is barely conscious, and very weak," he said, hoping the gentle soul would comply.

"Well he looks like he's covered in oddly shaped shiny rocks. His body isn't like ours. But...." she sighs, "I want to help him somehow. While I was him when he got here, he sounded more desperate than aggressive". Dangerous? Well this could indeed be dangerous. Buttons knew that, since he doesn't know much about the robot. "What Caden said, if you feel it's dangerous, bring someone with you".

The large stag responded with

The large stag responded with submissive body language that did indeed placate Herla to some degree. She always appreciated submission, it certainly went a long way in making her more amendable to rendering aid.

Buttons sounded very sincere in her desire to help this entity, though the female’s description did little to help Herla understand what it was.

“I don’t know what a ‘robot’ is,” she addressed the both of them, “But I’ll follow you to observe it. And see if I can help.” It was the most she could offer really. Neither Gehirn nor Ciel where immediately available, she’d use caution and her best judgment. Medicine Doe was her job after all.
alcinda's picture

He’d been watching the scene

He’d been watching the scene unfold from a distance, quietly lurking within the shadows of the trees. Ramsus might’ve been big, but he was a master of the art of stalking. Creepy stalking, that is. But it wasn’t without good intentions; he’d simply been keeping an eye on the medicine doe who always seemed to attract invasive stags. Normally he would have been with Isiel, but she was absent and the stag had to find something else to do with his time.

His white eyes narrowed as the unfamiliar stag and doe tried to usher the medicine doe to heal some kind of unknown creature – a robot, they say. Naturally Ramsus was suspicious of it all, but he was especially untrusting of the other stag. Was this a trap of some sort? And what the hell was a robot? And was Herla really considering going off alone with these deer?

Finally the sharp-toothed beast emerged from the darkness, his presence most likely given away by the twigs that had been snapped beneath his massive hooves and leaves that brushed against his sides. He cleared his throat but did not speak, instead scowling and staring judgingly at the other male. It may or may not have been evident that he planned to stick with Herla to ensure she would not get hurt.
gglidden's picture

She tilts her head down a bit, "Sorry if my description wasn't very helpful. I don't really know what a robot is either". She lifts her head back once Herla finished, "Thank you for helping Herla". Just then she notices this large, intimidating, sharp toothed beast appear from within darkness. Buttons took a tiny step back and fights the urge to back away any farther, standing her ground, and retain her composure.

Herla nodded to the other

Herla nodded to the other small doe, she knew the other female meant well and only wanted to help this creature whatever it was, it was hard for her to refuse such a well intentioned request. The medicine doe tensed, her head swiveling sharply around when the rustling of undergrowth and snapping of twigs alerted her to the approach of something very large.

Once the toothy stag revealed himself the feathered doe noticeably relaxed. Not too long ago she would have likely fled encouraging Buttons along with her but things had changed, the unlikely stag now a trusted ally to the petite doe. Buttons looked rather terrified, however so Herla spoke up to calm her, “This is Ramsus,” she introduced, observing the ram stag’s determined stance, she added, “My escort today it would seem.” She wished body guards were not required but on more than one occasion the doe had been attacked/injured in the execution of her medicine doe duties.

”If you’re ready, we can go?” she asked the other doe.

Caden felt relief wash over him as the gentle doe accepted their inquiry. He decided that it might be better to go ahead of the does, to announce Herla's coming to the agonizing creature who still rested near the playground, or as far as Caden knew. Just as he turned to go, his ears pricked, picking up on something crashing through the undergrowth.

His chest lurched as a fearsome Ramsus emerged from the shadows behind the medicine woman. The beast's lips were curled back in what seemed to be a permanent snarl, for Caden had never seen him otherwise. The raven brute may have had Jax's barbarous bloodline, but he didn't seem to carry the heart of a fighter. Still, the stag pinned his ears back, feeling alarm cloud his icy gaze, and though his heart pumped panic through his veins, he kept his disposition passive, and his voice steady, "Very well then, he's by the Playground." With a motion of his nose in the direction where StarScream lay, he waited for Buttons to join him in leading the way.

(I just made a rhyme...|D)

Ramsus’ tired eyes stared at

Ramsus’ tired eyes stared at the small doe who seemed determined to stand her ground. The large beast didn’t have a problem with Buttons.. it was Caden who he didn’t trust. Though he supposed, from past experiences, that even does could pose some kind of danger. Sianna was a good example, for one.

With furrowed brows and an unmoving scowl, the stag’s attention was quickly placed back upon Caden; staring him down before finally settling his gaze back on the medicine doe. On cue Ramsus would follow Herla to their destination, most likely glancing back at Caden every so often to make sure he wouldn’t try anything strange. He said nothing still, but there was really no need to. The beast’s gawking expressed everything that needed to be said. Don’t do anything stupid.

I know this is quite random, but I never got to say how much I admire this character. She`s so developed and her design is amazing, and the CSS is simply awesome. I`d love to maybe rp with you one day, but my characters aren`t as nearly as epic as this. Mostly because of no CSS skill XD

Thank you, that’s very kind Poppyflower. I’m not much for RP’s out of the blue though, I usually do better with some sort of in-forest interaction to lead things off.

And I just have to say, CSS is nice but it certainly is not what makes a character. I am completely grateful for the beautiful CSS that Misako made here, but a character can be wonderfully developed and played and have no CSS at all in fact. Just like with anything there is no short cut, time and energy into a character is what will make it come to life for yourself and others. Fancy art and CSS is just icing on the cake. Eye

Yep, I guess so . (:

It`s sometimes hard for me to actually develop a character because I don`t usually draw, so I can`t actually post pictures so others can see what my characters are supposed to look like.

Since there was a time when I didn`t connect to the forest at all, I got quite used to rping. I don`t think CSS is as hard as I think it is, but you`re right when you said it takes time and energy rather than CSS. Smiling

I believe that I might have seen you in the forest... twice or so XD. And during Halloween.
