You should consider into looking for inspiration in false widow spiders.
Mostly black, and some have slightly yellowish, reddish, greenish?? or gray accenting on legs and back.
Though blackish-white pelts are many. Having another colour to the black like red or purple for example would spice the array so much nicer, like JD's design it's so fab.
Love JD's of course, as well as the way Orin's Red Panda pelt looked on the model when Margo was working with TEFc. Also want to mention another of my favorites from that thread, the 'Egito set,' particularly the mask, that was originally designed by Thais and is dark and fairly bestial looking while not being overly realistic! Would love to see something like it added.

i have to counter and throw in my vote for the wolf mask!
if it does make it into the game, it may be that it becomes one of the more frequently used masks, but i don't see the problem with that? if a large portion the player base likes and enjoys it, why not allow for that. isn't that the point of a game to some extent- giving the people who play and support it something they like?
tef is and always will be a game of perspective. it is always 'peaceful' no matter what's being roleplayed by the players. there is no 'damage' to your avatar and there's no in-game mechanic that caters to violence in any which way. none of the emotes are intrinsically aggressive, either. it's all purely perception and imagination that gives tef any sense of violence whatsoever.
there are already countless canine-based characters in the game right along with other predatory types and hell, even most of the deer-type in the woods are carnivorous. a lot of them aren't out for blood or to hunt others down, they're as peaceful as any other character.
adding the wolf mask in wouldn't change this or promote the creation of more carnivorous characters. it'd just be something that players could enjoy looking at and offer more variety. although it's ultimately up to m&a no matter what's sent in!
if aggression's a concern, softening the expression and 'feel' of the wolf mask could be considered! perhaps make it less snarly and wild-eyed.
personally, i think the current skull mask in game is very boar-like in shape! and we've already got the paper deer mask, maybe give thought to straying from deer-like facial shapes
On the matter of wolf masks and stuff, I don't see why it should be a problem if literally everyone wanted to wear a new mask. Even if there's an army of wolf faces, I'd say good for everyone for having fun and enjoying the content people paid $500+ to get into the game with the creator's approval.

I honestly wouldn't worry about it? Again, my priority lies mainly with dark pelts, so unless Soli decides to put in her Black Jaguar pelt, I'm probably not going to put a whole lot of focus on masks. People already use the 'scary' skull mask as a stand-in for carnivorous characters, anyway.
I don't think there would be much harm in having an actual wolf mask. It doesn't have to be an exact rendition of Rah-Bop's, either. It's just for inspiration. p:

I might make a concept of this idea later, but I had a thought of a dark pelt that is similar to a black jaguar with the black fur with the faded hint of shapes within, but in a pattern like a reverse dapple, or lace markings on a horse. That might be a lovely pelt idea. (For the mask, possibly a black knight chess piece, something very stylized and emotive.)

Yngve - REALLY DIGGIN' the horse chestpiece mask/overall set. Seriously wish I could send in an entire set, but alas. ;; I think the pattern might need to be a little less faded so the dapples are more noticeable, since I don't think M&A will be inclined to accept a dark pelt unless there's some noticeable differences from the BAN.
Vanilliana - Cool concept, love the horns! Unfortunately, I think the basic black pelt would be too similar to the special BAN pelt, and again I don't think that's something M&A would put into the game. :{

I lightened up the pelt, and added a bit more saturation to it. I also messed around with the mask detail a bit. (I hope this is a better concept. :3 )
I had thought of making a pair of antlers. Maybe something that looks like that bit of mane, but positioned and curved like antelope horns. Or, maybe a single horn, with the same mane pattern, like a kirin.
OR, maybe a set of long feathers. Like they sometimes put on horses that pull carriages.
So I couldn't help but real quick sketch an idea or two down...

I like both of those masks, but I do like the top one a bit better. I feel like it's more neutral and could be used for both feline and canine characters or even other predators.
Maybe you can add a stripe that goes from the eye to the nose like a lot of felines have. Or I could also imagine it with some badger-like markings.
Truthfully I kind of like the 2nd version more, the shape just feels nice to me. <3 Good source of inspiration/starting point for sure! Def helps me generate some ideas in my head.
