The lynx had decided for a moment to slip away from her viking companion to retrieve some belongings from the forest. Her thin frame slipped through the open field of the birch, heading toward her den, when she noticed the clutch of eggs. Blue and silver eyes glanced around the area, ears perked, before padding closer to investigate. Lowering her skull covered face to the clutch she sniffed them curiously. Lebannen circled the eggs for a moment, pondering something. With one final look around she lay beside the clutch, her eyes narrowed and ears perked. She stayed with the eggs almost all day, always alert and always careful. When she knew the viking would be looking for her, she forced herself away, snagging an egg to carry gingerly in her jaws. Perhaps she could get it to hatch for her, or, if not, she could empty it and keep it in a display case.
The rhino-head had been encouraged by his father figure to look for a couple of eggs in the near abouts.
Finally found them, he gobbled one up right away and then nabbed another for keeping, maybe eats maybe just keep cause pretty egg. :->
Tavis will steal one too, but the smallest... of the very large eggs. cough.
Since he's human faced he can do nothing but roll it away, happy brain scrambling if there's anything inside.
The slender, raven-like stag suddenly pushed himself through some bushes and to where some eggs lay, very large ones. Caesar tilted his head side to side trying to smell or hear a mother but nothing came to scent or to ear. He moved swiftly, closer to the eggs, curious to observe them. Why isn't there a mother here protecting these eggs? There are a lot of creature s in the forest and Gods know what they could do to these eggs, he thought looking at the egg shells that lie around the eggs. This may be a terrible idea.. I should at least try to save one, hopefully it won't hatch to become a dangerous creature, he thought as he gave a quick glance around his area. He then started quickly, and very quietly, started rolling one egg away with his beak, being very careful not to hit it against anything. After a moment, he finally came to his "nest" next to a large birch tree. He settled the egg down and curled himself around it. Then he thought to himself, Am I a father now?
[ PSSST HELLO i hope you don't mind if the Asset takes one of these B) I'D LOVE FOR HIM TO BE ABLE TO HATCH IT, ACTUALLY. it'd be good for him to have a new 'mission' to take care of, whether it hatches or not. -w- ]

There are two things that eggs are good for:
1. Hatching things.
2. Eating.
As it is, the Asset isn't particularly hungry at the moment, and it's not entirely sure whether or not its cervine body can handle eggs, anyway. Do magical, human-faced deer eat eggs? Note to mission head: ask charge if eggs provide sufficient nourishment for cervine inhabitants of the forest. The mushrooms in this place are disgusting (the asset is convinced they have at least minor hallucinogenic properties). Alternative provisions would be...acceptable.
So. No eating. Which means function #1 is all that's left, and there are no parents that the Asset can see (and it would see them, he's confident of that) to keep the oversized eggs warm. On that note- are the eggs birds, the Asset wonders, or are they reptiles? Giant platypuses? Maybe--
(Likelihood: 13%)
Maybe not.
It leaves MISSION: ASSIST/PROTECT with the eggs, stalking off to retrieve an old, crumpled cloth sack from a stash of Useful Things the Asset has created elsewhere in the forest. With the help of MISSION ASSIST, it does not take long for it to carefully roll one egg into the cloth sack and carry it off.

The vixen had seen them early on, eyes watching from a distance as others visited and eventually, taking an egg. Confused at first by this, at first sight she entertained ideas of taking this nest, raising her soon to be young here along side of what was in the eggs. Worst case scenario they'd be a good meal after her young was born, but after seeing so many taken she panicked, reaching the nest and frantically trying to cover it before coming to her senses and taking one egg ever so carefully in her mouth and carrying it back to her den.
Whatever the future held for the rest it wouldn't do for her to worry much about them, at least she had one.
[Hope you don't mind if Edith nabs one of the new ones ;w;]
A being watches from the shadows, silently regarding the outsized eggs with fascination. She makes her way closer with light steps, inspecting the nest from every angle. Fixing her gaze on one particular egg, she gently nudges it away from the others, carefully picking it up with her mouth. With this new treasure secured, the being slips off to the ruins.
The fate of the egg is uncertain, only known to the lithe little being. And she isn't telling.
I've resisted for a while but I'm very curious about these. And so is one of my characters.

Isobel came to visit now and then; she'd made a place for herself deep in the forest and she felt best at home there for now. She hunted better in deep forest; became skilled at killing birds and small animals and didn't have to live on bugs. She stayed fuller longer.
Wandering out into the regular forest one night, while most was quiet, she came upon a nest, seemingly abandoned. Some eggs were disturbed, a few broken and eaten. The smell of yolk made the chimera's stomach growl, and she couldn't help but tear into one and eat herself, savoring the egg as she lapped it up. She wiped at her muzzle to clear eggshell off, and her ears swiveled, listening to nearby noise. Should she risk taking the bite of another? Or should she take one back? Gingerly, she picked up an egg, having a hard time fitting it in her mouth without breaking it because of the size. Encumbered, she made her way back to her own little nest deep in the woods, where it was warm. She would stash the egg there, where it would most likely be forgotten for a time.. maybe given a chance to hatch, if the conditions were right.

not sure what your plans are, but left some openings there for you for whichever. Thanks for letting me and one of my characters take part in this.
I've been checking on this every now and again.. Just gonna write a small blurb.

Odessa had noticed a lot of activity through this part of the forest lately. Curiosity finally got the better of her and she went to see what all of the hubbub was about. Treading carefully she came across the nest, some of the eggshells were broken and scattered while there still seemed to be a few eggs undisturbed. She tilted her head and bent her head down to see if she could catch a scent. Nothing strong enough to be anything but passers-by... Curiouser and curiouser. With a gentle claw she moved the broken shells away from the whole ones, giving them more room in the nest. She decided to lay for awhile, spreading a large wing over the remaining eggs. Maybe this little bit of warmth would help them to hatch in the future....
She awoke from a light snooze later on in the day. Yawning she looked around. There still didn't seem to be anyone around. With a shrug she took one of the eggs gingerly in her claws before winging off back to her 'home' near the Crying Idol.

Curious to see where this goes! Couldn't help but to take one.
The witch had noted the whereabouts of the nest after her daily ventures in the Forest, stumbling upon them in the twilight air. The outcome of the second visit was for now unknown. Rin had mouths to feed in the burrow, but yet, the curious thought of what could be within them was enough to cease the temptation to feast. Carefully, she clutched an egg with her talon like claw. Slowly, she made her way back to the burrow, the egg held tight in her curled hand and then placed amongst the mossy bed, surrounded by her collection of precious items.
Whatever was within, she knew at least it was safe from harm.
//
I've been coming back to this post again and again. Can't wait to see the outcome! uvu
The young goddess picked her way closer and closer, having watched the eggs be broken or taken from a distance. What sort of children would these be if they lived long enough to hatch? Birds? Reptiles? She tipped her head to one side in thought, peering thoughtfully at one of the unbroken eggs. Perhaps she'd try to hatch one. Glancing around, she shifted into her centaur form, gently snatching up the closest egg and headed off. Once she had an acceptable nest for it, she'd change back into her deer form and brood over the egg, keeping it nice and warm until it decided to hatch. If not...well then it'd just be an unsolved mystery.
Been watching this for a little while. Hopefully it's okay that Tas took one. Curious to see what becomes of it.
The downpour has the old one's joints swollen and sore, the chill has seeped itself into her bones but her size makes it impossible to hide from the rain. Instead she wanders around the forest. There are no familiar scents lingering today and even if there was it would have been washed into the dirt quickly. She streaches her shoulders, sending a splatter of droplets into the air. When the sun comes again her fur will dry in matts and tangles. It will take a long time to set her apearances to rights again but at least it will give her something to do in the long days. A quiet sigh slips out as she passes the old oak and sees the huddle of warm bodies in its shelter. There will be no rest for her there either it seems, and the doe moves on to the playground.
Lilith stands on the tallest stone for hours, watching the rain fall with only the barest twitch of her ears. It's when she finally turns to leave that she sees the egg. Ears flick up with curiousity and she aproaches. The egg is larger than the various bird species that make their home here, not a dove, not a crow and certaintly not one of the tiny trilling songbirds. A quick survay of the surroundings shows that there are no parents there, no protection for the tiny life that may be begining its life within the fragile shell. The doe touches the egg gently with her nose, feeling the moisture beaded on the surface against the already soaked fur on her face.
A slow blink and a shiver travels across her spine, she can not leave this little egg here for the preadators to destroy. The cold is likely negitively effecting the small thing too. With all her realtions either gone without a trace or taking shelter in other worlds what does she have to lose? It would be nice to have a young life to keep her company and her heart is big enough for another. There is room to spare in her old lair and she decides to take it there. With one reluctant glance over her shoulder she leaves the egg to fetch something to carry it. The scattered eggshells show the fate of the other eggs....she would do well to hurry.
Relief fills her when the egg is still where she left it, no one has snatched the fragile thing away. A gentle roll into the shawl and a extensive check to make sure it is secure and she hoists it on to her shoulder and away. Her steps take her to the ruin pit and below, into the other world and the spacious dungeon. A fire is started in the hearth with considerable dificulty, the absense of hands getting in the way and the egg placed close by on a soft cushion. Lilith curls around it and watches the flames flicker for a long time before falling asleep.
This egg will be safe.

Oh, I'm just a girl, trying to find a place in this world.
The young kabuki faced lioness made way past towering branches in the forest, lazily dragging her toes through the grass. She approached a cluster of rocks, still warm from the usual endless sunlight of this forest, and flopped herself down on them. Closing her eyes she stretched out forepaws, and placed them on a soft smooth stone, unlike the one she rest upon.
Opening stark yellow eyes once more she saw that this rock was much different from the one she rest on, and there were quite a few there in fact. Curiosity begot the feline and she grabbed the stone-like object in her teeth to take it back to her den, where it lay with countless furs, feathers, and stones.

Darcia had gone without food for what felt like ages... he hadn't even attempted to snack on a living thing in months. His stomach felt like it was being yank out from inside of him at best. He could wait no longer, the pain had become to numbing.
Like some kind of heavenly gift a hoard of eggs caught and drew him near. He crept close, making sure no guardian could be found protecting the eggs. After thoroughly confirming nothing was near he lifted a inky black hoof, placing it gently on an egg around the outside. Slowly he rolled it away but only just a few feet away from the nest. He took a moment to smirk before pressing down hard with his hoof. The egg started cracking under the pressure.
He sat down, ready for his first meal in a long time... his mouth watering from the anticipation... he couldn't wait anymore. He ripped the egg open hastily while the insides began to spill out, quickly he devoured as much he could.
When he was done, the only trace left behind was the shattered shell, not a drop of yolk was wasted. He left quietly.

Darci stole and ate an egg : D He left the shell though.
Out of all of the things to expect in the forest, eggs were not one of them. Akan's eye twitched. The more he learned about the place he inhabitated, the more uncomfortable he felt with everything else inside of it.
{Eggs. What would lay eggs? Something terrifying, for sure.}
He reached out to splay his paw on the hard shell of one of the things, rolling it pensively in thought. It'd make a good meal; after a very unsatisfying week of eating half-starved rodents and scrawny birds that contained more feather than fowl, the thought of an egg sounded pleasing.
{And something terrifying could hatch from them. Like giant birds. Or--oh god, gods knew what kind of horrible and complicated things could come from an egg in THIS place.}
After sitting there with an aloof expression on his face for some time, ears flicking, he suddenly pulled the egg being hooked by his paw towards him, a smirk on his face. Pushing down with his paw forcefully, he waited for the thing to crack in front of him, before immediately devouring any of the contents inside without a second thought and licking anything left off of his lips. As if almost rubbing it in the world's face that he had made such a discovery and profited off of it, Akan shoved another egg out of the clutch, turning back and using his hind hoof to smash the shell into pieces. Staring back behind him with a sigh, he eventually took off again, not wanting to linger and accidentally come across whatever might've laid them in the first place.
(thought i'd have akan eat/smash two of them because he's a jerk whynot.)
Just poping in her to leave a note; Lothair grabbed one of the eggs and took it with him. It'll hatch, but the specimen will die in his arms shortly after it hatches. (I got permission from Claw c: )
