A Forest Healer
In a quite part of the forest, not to far from a stream, there is the home of a large male deer. He didn't have the same appearance like most stags for his antlers were but nubs; but he was not to fear. He lived in a hollowed out tree, just big enough for his large form. There, beside his shelter was a garden of many plants. Each smelt different and all were used by him. No, he didn't claim he could heal everything someone might come to him for, but he knew a thing or two about certain illness. He welcomed all does and stags, and any other resident of the forest in need of a little something to help them. All he asks in return in a small payment of ether mushrooms, herb seeds or anything that is of a simple value to the other.

Notes to RPers
- Anything can go really, just if it can effect Radish to the point of serious injury, please inform in a small OOC post before hand so I have time to accept or decline the action.
- Also, I am not Radish and Radish is not me. So please don't take offense to whatever he might do. Tho, I do doubt he would be the sort of guy to be disliked.
Thank you ^^
"Come in, don't be afraid. What can I do for you this fine evening?
Is it a headache you have? A sore leg? Maybe you need something to help you sleep?
Whatever it is, I will do my best to make you feel well again. It will be my pleasure."
Update: 3/2
The snow has melted, and spring is coming soon.
Much joy that has brought the white buck; so you shall be assured his stock is being refilled as each plant grows stronger in the warmth.
Radish needs an intro to his
w00t. <3
And if you don't guess from the intro, Radish loves to garden and takes great pride in it. You can go to him for herbs and remedies if you so wish. He doesn't call himself a powerful healer, but he knows a few things or two to stopping a headache and curing a stomach ache.

As the sun rose high into the sky, almost to the point of mid day, a large male was walking quickly through the trees and over the small hills. His bright red apron swayed from side to side to the movement of his large form. In his mouth was a medium side piece of bark, almost a perfect bowl. He soon approached the stream that traveled throughout the forest and bent down to dip the bark into the water to fill it. Once filled, a smile crawled across his face and he turned around and went back the other direction from which he came. If one did follow the stag, they would see him walking to a part of the forest where a tree stood. Almost like the gigantic tree that was hollowed out, but smaller and could probably only fit a few deer inside. Next to this homey little shelter, there was a section that could only be one thing. A garden.
He walked over to it, and bent down to let water trickled onto each mound of earth that was in a few rows. The male seem to take his time, minding each mound to make sure each was given just the right amount of water. One of the rows already had greens poking out from the ground, reaching for the sky. As he approached the last row, he glanced over each of the rows then stood up, ears alert. Did he hear something? Probably not, and went back to work.
In this case, however, he
"Excuse me, but is this garden yours?"
Seed had smelt it from afar before, the rich smells of the herbs carried by the slightest of breeze. He had decided nor to check it out, and see its source.
Looking back over his
"Why yes, this is my garden. Something I have worked on for quite some time since I had come to this forest." Motioning with his head towards the garden. At first it might of seemed small, but if one looked around there were more rows in different places around his tree. "My name is Radish, and you are?"
"My name is Seed....And I
I mean, Seeds and Radishes and herbs, oh my.... Well, Seed had heard a lot of puns built off of his name, some good and some bad. A fair number heartwarming, too.
"This really is a lovely garden; what do you do with it all? Or is it simply for admiration of the plants?"
He sniffed at a flowering thyme plant with a thoughtful look.
Radish chuckled at the other,
"Why thank you, I do love how my garden is turning out. The weather here is just right for many of them to grow properly. Oh, I usually sell them, dry them, grind them into powder. Even make charms; but they are a hobby as well. A living you may say."
Moving to lower himself down on his belly, Radish looked at Seed with a smile. "Please rest, I do enjoy company after all." The large white stag chuckled warmly.
Placing a track here :3
"That sounds very nice. I
Seed himself was familiar with having an occupation, though his was far less practical perhaps than Radish's. Still, he did enjoy seeing others do things that mattered to them, to exchange ideas, to get a sense of their private and often alien worlds.
He did walk closer, as indicated, and continued examining the space of the garden.
"You sell them, though? What do you take in exchange?"
@Wocio; Thank you for taking

"So do I. It's good to keep the mind busy and not just sit around and do so little when everyone has so much potential. He paused. Yes, I sell them. It really depends what I do with them first. Straight from the ground they are worth slightly less then if I make something like medicine."
Turning his head, he used his back leg to push over an interesting stone bowl with a stone stick inside "I was given this as a gift from another from a very different forest. I use it to grind and mix different herbs. It takes time, but it helps a lot if making different remedies. As for price, I mostly just ask for more seeds, fungi, or anything that would been seen as simple value. Nothing much, unless it is a difficult job."
In some of the small trees around them, those which are short and young hung a number of different herbs bound together and out to dry. One could tell he took his time with each one.
"I see...That's really a very
He chuckled at the thrust of the business model, which was as good as any other: the deer of the forest needed little, in terms of survival resources.
Seed tilted his head and asked,
"I don't suppose you'd take a poem as payment one day, would you?"
Hmm, a poem? Any offer is
Radish nodded to himself. He could just go around and tell others about his work, but he knows if he left his garden for far to long, the rabbits will help themselves to a meal or two. Something he still hasn't figured out how to fix. Rabbits were to smart to be scared away from a potential meal. So if someone told a few about him, it would work out in the end. "Sound fair?"
"That sounds like a good
Seed nodded happily. It wasn't as if word of mouth cost him much, and he knew a few people who he thought might be interested in learning about such a place.
"Although I ask, I admit...I don't really have much use for medicine; I don't get sick more than once or twice a year."
Radish was glad to hear that,
The mushroom was a soft red color with white dots. "That is Agaric, a fungi that can be used in Fertility. Dried and worn around the neck or antler; but never eaten." The little mushrooms were only a few of the different things that lined his garden. Tho, the stag could go on, but Seed didn't have to buy anything if he didn't find interest medical herbs.
"Hmmm..." He looked around
He looked around and thought about things. What he thought he liked about herbs, besides the smell, were the taste, or the way they calmed, or...
"Do you make teas with your herbs? I'm a little bit picky about my choice in drink, and that may be just the thing."
He just tended to find plain pond water a little...Well...Unsatisfying, for one, and dirty, for the other. He knew people who slept in it, and the prospect of tasting water he, and his blood-brother, and his brother's mate, and so on, had slept in was...Less than ideal.
The large stag stood up,
Of course, teas are more of an aroma thing, but with enough flowers or herbs, they can even have a strong flavor to go with it. Radish even had a few 'bark' bowls that he would provide with a few tea powders if requested. Also, if there were some fruit trees in this forest, he could even make fruit tea as well. Apple tea is always seeming to be a favorite during colder seasons.
"Well, let me think... I
He said, with a hint of a sigh. Seed was a native of the forest, and so his knowledge of concepts outside of the forest came largely second-hand, and somewhat erratic.
It was a bit of a pain. Still, someone was going to the trouble of making something for him, he could try to be a bit more specific.
"I like things that are sweet -- would that help?"

Radish's grin was wide set as
Still standing, the white male moves over to a few flowers on the side of the hollow tree. Sniffing softly, he noted which ones that would be best to be dried for a tree that would suit the green stag. Stopping, he looked over to Seed. "As for time to prepare the tea . . . I would say within the next three days. A good tea uses dried leaves and petals and is crushed into ether a fine power or small lumps; depending on preference." He smiled, waiting for a response from Seed.

"That sounds very
Seed nodded, taking the information in.
"So, then, I will have a few days to compose a poem for you. That's a relief."
After all, he only had very rough ideas of the poem he would write; a sense of the smell of the poem, perhaps, an image of radishes and dark, fertile earth... But not the words just yet. He chuckled, to distract himself from the worry.
"I could possibly try and make a poem that is an advertisement, I suppose."
Radish nodded to the other,
"Hmm, which ever you would prefer, but if you think you could squeeze advertizement into the mix of the poem, go for it." The large male smiled, then added, "Also, how strong do you want the tea and how sweet?"
"Do you have a preference for
Seed asked, trading the questions of his craft for the question about Radish's. You could never trade a poem that had been written for someone else, on the rare days you could get a commission to begin with. You just had to remake it and remake it, and edit it and pare it down... Which sometimes did things well. But it was nice to get things right the first time.
"Somewhat strong -- not a weak tea, but not overwhelming... About a 6 on the Strength-o-Meter. And I think just a little bit sweet; not so much that it'd impose my taste...I may share it with a friend of mine."
Because he thought Sage would love to share some tea with him. He thought about sharing things with Sage a lot, lately, though he'd not noticed it.
Radish looked back over to
"If you don't mind, I'll live it up to you. After all, you are the poet and I just a simple herbalist."
He chuckled, nodding and taking note of the requirements for the tea that the green stag desired. A slightly strong, lightly sweetened jasmine tea. That is something that he was truly confident in creating. After all, teas were one of the first things he learned to make after medicines.
Radish already had a few flowers hanging to dry along with some green tea leaves, just waiting to be made into tea. He softly tugged some sweet leaves off of a plant with his lips and dropped them into a bowl. Looking over to Seed, he nodded.
"You are welcome to watch if you wish, but it is a rather long and slow process, so I doubt you would enjoy it much." The stag smiled, moving down to work with the sweet leaves in the bowl.
"Ha -- very well,
He laughed. After all, he was leaving the tea up to Radish, so that seemed fair; to each stag his craft, etc.
He sniffed at the drying leaves and tried to decide what to do -- on the one hand, the process could give him material. On the other hand, he could be waiting long for very little.
"Well, is there anything in particular you do in this process in the near enough future? Poems are physical things, really -- one cannot build a castle in the sky without one's hooves firmly in the soil, as they say."
Radish nodded over to Seed,
He thought about the question, letting the stick lay in the bowl and lifting his head. "Well, what I need to do is crush the sweet leaves to a mush, then I let them fit in the bowl as I gather the dried flower petals and tea leaves to add to it and crush them till they create a mixture. And after all of that, I use a ether large leaves or a form of fabric then I tie it all together and it just needs to be submerged in water and the flavor from the mixture mixes with the water."
Listing everything he said in his head, making sure he stated everything. Then his ears perked, "Oh, one more thing. If you want hot tea, all I can say is to leave a bowl of water out in direct sunlight for a long period of time." Radish nodded, then continued to crush the leaves with the stone.
"I was wondering about
He said with a chuckle. Things in the forest were not always as easy as the information he could get made it sound like they were elsewhere. And so craft became fascinating for more than just craft's sake -- he'd written about that.
He watched Radish's process carefully, trying to assemble a line. Maybe an acrostic poem? 'Resplendent in the air, the scent of / anise, the cool of mint, the tang of rosemary...' Darnit, he'd need a D. He scratched out a few pictoglyphs on the ground, trying to get it to work.
If Radish didn't reply, it
He picked it lightly and repeated the process of hanging it up on the string where other leaves, twigs and herbs hung. It should be dry nicely by tomorrow if the morning due doesn't damp it to much. He walked into his little hallow tree, looking around. Seeing a few spare cloths and put one to the side.
The male worked quietly to himself, a soft hum could be heard every so often, but the white stag seemed rather content and comfortable in his work.

"Good afternoon miss, how are you doing this fine day?" Tilting his head to the side, bowl hat stayed on his head only barely. It must have taken some practice to keep that from falling off since he was younger. "Can I help you with anything?"
As he approached the doe, Radish stood over her. He was a rather large fellow after all and has yet to meet another that was larger then himself. But this forest was full of many surprises and he just might meet such a person.
Nemonica smiled back at the

"Tho, I think I could make you some green tea bags, the leaves help with muscle pains and could sooth them till the pain passes. Maybe adding some peppermint for muscle cramps if you have those too." Of course, the tea wouldn't help her completely, and definably not heal her legs. Only help her with dealing with it, after all, he wasn't a miracle worker. He took notes in his head of the items. Oh, he also forgot. "I could also give you some white willow bark to chew on, that should take away almost all the pain . . . but you would need to be careful with it." Nodding a bit to himself, then looking to the doe, oh he almost forgot. "Oh, my name is Radish, and you are? Also, what do you think?"

"Well, it's nice to meet you
Radish turned back towards her, taking in her question. "Not that long to tell the truth. I think maybe a month or so, the level in the fertility of the earth surprised me some. I wasn't expecting some of the herbs to mature so quickly."
