While sitting in my car waiting for time to go to work, I listened to the first track of a CD I got from my trip to the Grand Canyon. The band is called Burning Sky and they are native flute music. While listening, my mind wandered, I saw the desert we visited in Arizona and New Mexico on the trip, and saw a creature running endlessly. Not a deer, pronghorn, or goose...but a coyote.
What was he trying to tell me as I watched him run? He was not hunting or pursuing anything, just running through the wild desert.
I remember hearing once that the coyote was a
storyteller much like myself. Maybe another totem of mine like the deer and goose...
I later got to meet him while having time to think at work. He sat on a small hill, waiting for me. I asked, "What do you represent?", and he replied with a riddle, "What do dreamers do?"
I stupidly answered, "Dream?"
He chuckled and said, "Clever, but no. They aspire."
"So you represent aspiration?", I asked him.
"Bingo.", he replied. "I know you have the generosity of the deer and the loyalty of the goose, but do you have a coyote's aspiration?", he asked me. Before I could answer, he turned and jumped off of the hill, running quickly into the distance.
I will dream of him again tonight and see if he has any more words or clarification for me, but I'm curious about him. I've had totems come and go before - snakes and dolphins for the longest protected me before I found goats and deer.
Maybe the coyote is another protector.
In any event, I do lack aspiration. He is absolutely right, and maybe this was a wake-up call to do my best to get my goals done.
He was telling me to aspire.
We have something in common.
Dolphin and Snake were also passed 'companions'. Dolphin has protected me in my dreams when I was younger. And I can’t say snake and I get along. I think he was more to help me get over my fears. He had come to my dreams often in the passed but I have not seen neither of them in a long time.
I hope you liked my home
But, I love the coyote. We have eagles and hawks here, but I just loved how wild and reckless the coyote is! The tarantula is to help me get over my fear of spiders. There feet are soo soft. I used to be terrified of them, but, since Saturday (The day I actually got over my fear!) I have had no issues with them. <3
I love you, Tarantulas!
<33
PrairieWolf - I'm curious
SentrySeb - I loved the west on my trip. It was the first time I had ever gone past Texas, and the endless desert was just beautiful. I'm so used to having woods here in Alabama that it was amazing to see so far into the horizon. I bet your sunsets are gorgeous. Out of curiosity, which state is it you're from? I got to go to Taos in New Mexico and then Flagstaff and North Rim Grand Canyon in Arizona.
That's a great accomplishment to overcome your fear of spiders, too. I overcame my fear of needles by donating blood to the Red Cross. Now if I can only get over my fear of bees and wasps, I'll be set.
Nm
You don't know how badly I
I loved the people out there, too. You have a great mix of culture over there.
Thanks! Yeah, I love it
Yeah, I love it here too. It's like the wild side of nature. You can jump mountains. You can be reckless. You haven't lived until you have climbed Sun mountain and moon mountain. <3
Same here with Dolphin. Since
Snake came to me on and off. Though, unlike SentrySeb with spiders, I never feared snakes. I grew up with them. My folks still have a snake who is older then me! I'm not sure if back then they were trying to help me over come my fears of people or if they were warning me of people. The last time I dreamed of Snake was when I was still in grade school. You could say I hated school because of the poor "socializing" it provided.
I'm curious if you have any other totems close to you? Coyote, Deer, Dolphin, Snake, Goose.
I have several totems that came and gone from my life. Coyote always seemed to be lurking about before I even knew him and came to appreciate what he had to teach. Ant is one and is where it seems I get my work mentality from. Though I hate it. I let myself get taken advantage of at work too much. ~_~; Fox seemed to come to my dreams with images of family.
There are others but I’m getting a bit rambley. >_>; Sorry about that. ^^; I don’t talk to many people about totems and such. My current position in life doesn’t give me much of a chance.
Yeah, I get that. Okay, I
Okay, I love...
Red fox,
Coyote,
And Spiders. Of all kinds.
Snakes are my life. I want one sooo badly.
I especially love the blue tarantula. Look it up. Or i'll eat you. ;p
I mostly see goats, deer, and
As far as insects, I feel an attachment to moths. Haven't read on what they represent yet but I find them to be pretty.
I always loved bigcats. I was
Butterfly is one of my totems. I guess she represents all the changes in my life. When a spiritual group of mine were doing our ‘spirit quests’ I never seemed to be able to ‘take the journey’ as it were. All I saw was butterfly with changing colors overpowering my vision. I told my spiritual guide and she said it must had mean a lot of change was going to happen but she seemed kind of crude about it. As if I ‘did it wrong’ or something. Pff.
Crow you could say is one of my totems who came to me as a living animal. Back in grade school there was this specific crow that seemed to follow me from school to the school bus stop near my house. He/she seemed to do this often and it kind of made me feel safe and not alone. Ever since that first day he/she did that I felt rather close to crow. Probably next to Coyote, crow would be the next closest to my heart.
SentrySeb - you guys over in
Srsly! They were crawling all over my tent and I was so surprised how BIG they were!
Lol, it's only in the
Just wanted to add this
I've always loved great blue herons. Through childhood, whenever I saw pictures of them I loved it, and I was delighted if I was able to see one flying. For the past few years, going up to the barn where I ride, we pass by a nesting ground for them, and in the spring, I never fail to get excited seeing the silhouettes of the babies in the giant nests.
Today I was stressed. I had turned off my alarm by accident, which caused me to miss the last morning train before my classes. I had to rush to get the buses and I was worried about being late. Once I finally got on the bus, I looked out a window, and there, in a place where you wouldn't normally see them, was a heron flying.
I took this as a good sign.
I got to school with time to spare, and didn't miss any of my classes.
I've had experiences like
I think on my trip to San Antonio in October I want to look for a coyote something to bring home. Not sure what yet but maybe a little something to put into my meditation box, or something I can put somewhere that is easy to see in my room, so I know he is watching out for me.
Yeah, it's weird, we really
But I just did a project on all the different life zones. >_> Worst nights ever.
